Chapter 80: The Alpha’s True Mate

Emma stood in front of a wall-mounted makeup mirror that was in her mate’s closet, adjusting her back zipper crop top. She smiled when she saw Brandon walking towards her, clad in a Stuart Hughes Diamond Edition suit, looking every inch like the Alpha of her heart.

He placed his jaw on her shoulder as they looked at the mirror together. His eyes were on her tempting waist while hers were on the diamonds that were on his suit...

"You look different, my moonblessed one," he whispered into her ear. She smiled and began to pin her hair. "I don’t want both of you to fight over that bedchamber. I want you here."

"No way, my starlit!" She turned to face him as though the mirror would break some of her words. That gave him the opportunity to grab her waist possessively. "She is moving out of my bedchamber this morning," she grinned meanly and turned to face the mirror again.

"Alright, I’m off to work. Just take care of yourself for me," he said and licked her neck, marking her with his warmth.

"Can I use your communication device?"

"Yeah, and that reminds me. Where is your gold device?"

"I...I...think I left it in the high Luna’s chamber."

"What? Did you go there?" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"Yes, she invited me."

Brandon turned her around to see her face clearly.

"Why?"

"To show me Lunara’s diamond ring, mating gown, banquet, and all the mating ensembles."

"Why did you leave your device there?"

"It fell off my hand."

"Why?"

"I heard your voice in Lunara’s chamber through the intercom."

"Are you sure it was my voice?"

"Did you go to her chamber that night?"

"Yes."

"I believed the high Luna when she told me you sleep with her each time you visit the royal den. I....mean....how do you expect me not to believe her, when you were in her chamber?"

"You are right. She invited me but nothing happened between us. What happened to you?"

"My muscles weakened immediately and the device slipped off my hand and shattered on the floor."

"Someone gave you a new device before you left the royal den; who was he?"

"The Alpha King."

"What? Why? Starlit, I told you he is manipulative!"

"No, you said he knows how to inject humor and pathos into some wolf. I was waiting for him to inject it, but he was very kind to me!"

"He has different strategies!"

"You didn’t tell me anything about different strategies."

"He must have figured out I told you about that old trick of his and decided to try a new strategy on you."

"Does it mean he hates me?"

"No, but he wants me to mate with your sibling because of the reason best known to you!"

"You are right."

"Where is the device he gave you?"

"I threw it away when I found out I was deceived. I couldn’t even reach him again. I’m sure he was behind the setup," she said, adjusting his tie appropriately like a devoted mate.

"No, he was not. Your sibling, Lunara, is behind everything. Don’t worry, I’ll order a new device today," he said, and gave her his own. She quickly dialed Brooklyn’s number. It had been a long time since she spoke with her last. She knew she would be trying to reach her to find out how the visit to the royal den went.

"Hi, Brooklyn!"

"Hei...Emma," she screamed happily immediately she recognized her voice.

"Are you busy?"

"Yeah, of course. Is this your new number?"

"No, my mate’s."

"How did it go?" She asked with a sharp tone.

"I want to see you."

"I’m coming there right now! I want to show you something!" she said and hung up immediately. She was so excited and couldn’t even give a hint of what she was coming to show her. Brandon kissed her forehead and took his device from her, ready to leave. She smiled and stared admiringly at him as he walked out of the closet in a perfectly tailored suit, radiating Alpha dominance.

She styled her hair and adjusted her low-waisted tight denim. She looked at herself in the mirror and was grateful to her mate who buys the best outfits for her. Her highlighted hourglass figure made her look like Barbie. She is expecting her best moonally, Brooklyn, any moment. She hit the intercom button and Bernard responded.

"Bernard, I want to change my bedchamber door and I have ordered a high-security door. The company will be here any moment. Please notify me as soon as they arrive."

"Alpha’s mate, are you going out?"

"I want to see Mr. Richard."

"Alright."

She left Brandon’s private chamber and walked gracefully down the stairs. The strange faces she saw stopped what they were doing and fixed their hawk-like eyes on her. None of them greeted her and she didn’t even care. She guessed they were the new workers Lunara employed within the pack estate.

Two guards followed her as soon as she headed towards the grand foyer. She waved at them to go back, but they ignored her. She shrugged and continued walking. Probably, her mate instructed them to guard her like the mate she is.

A gentle breeze began to blow as soon as she stepped out of the den. It was as if even the trees were happy with her decision to secure her territory. She smiled as she looked at the garden that was close to the lake. "No one can steal her joy," she said to herself.

She was admiring the beautiful trees that were swaying gracefully in the garden when her eyes caught sight of four she-wolves decorating four long white tables under the trees. The white tables were surrounded by silver chairs from her basement. She did not need anyone to tell her what was going on there. She sighed and continued walking towards Mr. Richard’s Quarter. The two guards walked behind her.

She hit the doorbell several times when she got to their quarter, but no one answered; she became afraid. She looked at the windows that were closed and opened one of them. Thalia, who was lying on a three-seater sofa with her eyes fixed on the vision hearth screen, did not bother to check who was knocking. She hesitated for a while before calling her name. The last time she did, she insulted her.

"Thalia," she called with a calm and careful tone. She quickly rolled and fell on the floor. She wondered why her voice startled her. Maybe she was not expecting to see her. She quickly stood up and began to walk coldly towards the door. Emma noticed she had bruises on her face.

"Moonrise," she mumbled with her face lowered. Emma’s eyes opened wide. She had never greeted her since she got mated to their Moon Prince. She cupped her chin, lifted it, and examined her face.

"Who did this to you?" She asked. She responded with tears. "Thalia, talk to me."

"Lunara Greens, her role model, hit her for not bowing to her," Mr. Richard, who had just come out of the chamber looking pale, answered. "She also smashed her communication device."

"What? What is she even doing here?"

"She said you are not the real mate; she is," Thalia said with a quiet tone. Emma pulled her closer to her midriff and she held her tight.

"Don’t worry, I’m here now. She won’t touch you again, okay?" Thalia nodded and let go of her.

"Mr. Richard, what happened? You look pale."

"I mourn when Brandon is mourning and happy when he is happy. He is like a he-pup and a sibling to me," he said and gestured to her. There was a short silence in the lounge. She was sorry for ever taking that drastic decision.

"The secret exit that was in his chamber when he was young was created by me. His father allowed him to go out one Saturday. When he came back, he told me he had found a she-wolf whose heart agreed with his and he would like to see her again. I begged the king to allow him but he refused. Brandon was on my neck to do something. His bedchamber door led to a big hallway and the guards his father assigned to him always stood at his door. I created another exit that would take him straight to the western entrance. That was the reason why none of his guards and personal assistants except me knew he was going out every Saturday to see you. I watched him fall deeply in love with you and I became scared when I noticed he could do anything for you. My fear came to pass the day he traveled to a far north region to rescue you," Mr. Richard smiled with tears in his eyes. "I’m glad both of you have grown into beautiful wolves. That little Emma Greens is now a beautiful Luna," he grinned again. "And that young Oliver Frostbane is now a handsome alpha," they giggled. "Don’t leave him again. I will die of heartbreak if you do."

She lowered her head and nodded. She couldn’t believe how fast time flew. Everything Mr. Richard said, happened ten years ago, but it was as if it happened just moon-fall ago. There was a short silence in the lounge as she pictured how young Brandon was then.

When did you come back?" He asked.

"I came back this moonrise."

"I haven’t seen Brandon for a while now."

"Why?"

"I knew how devastated he would be and I would have been more devastated if I had seen him in that state. I don’t want to know what happened but I want you to know that both of you are one. Your mistake is his mistake also and vice versa," he said as he received a call that came in on his device.

"The company you invited has arrived," he said as soon as he brought the device down from his ear. "Go and see them. I’ll come and see both of you later tonight."

She stood up, fondled Thalia’s head, and headed towards the exit. She followed Emma and kept apologizing for disrespecting her with gestures.

"I’d like to be one of your maids when I graduate from high academy."

"What??" She grinned and fondled her hair again. "No, I’ll send you to one of the best academies in the packland."

She smiled and hugged her again. She waved at them and began to walk towards the mega-mansion.

A cab stopped right behind her and she heard her moonally’s voice. She stopped and slowly turned her head with a smile on her face. She ran towards her and opened her handbag. She couldn’t wait to see what she got for her.

"Take it!" She gave her two pictures. The smile disappeared from her face immediately and her eyes opened so wide.

"Her face looks like mine! Oh my moon goddess! Oh my moon goddess!! She is my blood mother!" She screamed. The scream was followed by uncontrollable tears. They could pass for twins. Tears kept flowing down her cheeks as she kept staring at the picture of a young naive she-wolf that gave birth to her. She didn’t need to be told that the she-pup that lifted her right leg as though she was taking her first step was her. She smiled amid tears. Brooklyn snatched the pictures from her and returned them to her handbag.

"Where did you get it?"

"She has been writing letters to your parents, but they hid them from you. When your pack-kins moved out of our neighborhood, she continued sending but the old she-wolf that moved into the apartment kept burning them. She saw this two moon-cycles ago and could not burn it. I saw her standing in front of her mailbox, staring at the pictures with a smile. I sneaked a peek and went down on my knees immediately. She gave them to me! Emma, I called your number but I couldn’t reach you."

"I must see the she-wolf! Let’s go in," she held Brooklyn’s hand as they walked towards the entrance. She looked at the party arena and found out the guests had started coming.

"What is going on there?"

"Let’s go in first."

"Emma, you look so cute, you know. Your structure is so perfect now! Lunara is no match for you at all!"

"Well, unfortunately, my mate and I don’t focus much on our physical beauty. We look at each other’s hearts. But....he thinks I’m the most beautiful mate in the whole packland and I haven’t seen a wolf that is more handsome than him," she said and they giggled. " What are you celebrating?" Brooklyn asked again.
