Chapter 62: Emma’s Drastic Decision

"He wants to see you, but I don’t think you are ready to meet him," he whispered into her ear after a few moments, his warm breath brushing lightly against her wolf. She felt a faint tremor ripple through her, a quiet unease stirring deep within her thoughts as his words lingered.

"Of course, I’m ready." She replied quickly, though a small voice within her wolf questioned her certainty.

"No, you are not and I can’t imagine myself staying one day without you." His tone carried a weight that made her chest tighten, as though his wolf was silently pleading with hers.

"Does he want me to sleep over?" She asked, trying to sound composed, though her thoughts were already racing with possibilities.

"Yes, and I’m frightened you are going to take off after meeting him," he admitted softly.

"You think so little of the bond between us?" she murmured, her voice gentle but laced with quiet strength. Her fingers curled into his tunic, holding him there as her gaze locked with his.

"I have crossed moons and shadows to stand beside you... do you truly believe I would turn my back now?"

She leaned closer, her breath warm against his lips, her wolf stirring with certainty.

"You are my chosen fate, not a passing phase. No Alpha, no past, no ghost of who I once was could ever pull me away from you."

She swiveled and looked up at him. She could see quiet concern in his eyes even though he tried so hard to hide his expression. Her wolf stirred uneasily, sensing the depth of his fear. She became scared and nervous. He was her strength and strong foundation, the one presence that kept her wolf steady. She wrapped her hands around him and leaned on his chest, drawing comfort from his warmth.

"Brandon, you are my world! My definition! The first and only he-wolf my innocent heart fell in love with. What makes you think I’m going to take off after meeting your father?" She whispered, her voice firm, though her wolf silently prayed she wouldn’t be tested.

"He has a convincing power. His persuasion skill is second to none. He knows how to inject humor and pathos into wolves and make them see reasons with him."

"Is he manipulative?" She asked, her brows knitting slightly as unease crept deeper into her thoughts.

"Highly manipulative."

"Can we meet him together?" She asked, hoping to anchor herself to him through the uncertainty.

"No, he wants to talk to you in private."

There was silence as she kept leaning on his chest. Her wolf felt heavy, burdened by questions she could not answer.

"Why did he have so much power over you? You obey everything he says."

"I have more power over him, but you have the highest power over both of us and he would like to stop you."

"Which power?" She whimpered, still leaning on his chest, her curiosity now tangled with fear.

"You took all our powers, My Moonblessed," he said, brushing off some strands of hair from her face. "I can go to the moon for you, I can kill for you and he knows. It scares the hell out of him."

The hands she folded around his back began to vibrate. A strange warmth spread through her wolf, overwhelming and consuming. She slowly moved her lips to his and kissed him so passionately, as though sealing an unspoken vow.

"Don’t worry, I won’t abuse the power you gave me. I’d like to know what it is and how to use it. Would you tell me?" She asked softly, her voice laced with both curiosity and caution.

"No."

"Why?"

"You pushed me to make a drastic decision three years ago when I tried to convince you that your Oliver is back."

"What is the decision?" Her heart skipped, sensing something deeper beneath his words.

"You will figure out everything about me by yourself."

"Is this why you never said anything about Oliver again until I figured it out?"

"Yes."

"I’m sorry... please forgive me. I’m so terrible at mindlinking—I completely forgot that your dark mark could disappear after your awakening. I was so stubbornly fixated on it, even though it’s completely gone."

A wave of guilt washed over her wolf as the realization sank in, reminding her just how blind she had been.

"I bear no grudge at all; you know quite well, but I vowed never to get you provoked like I did that day at therapeutic den. You were happier when you found out that I am Oliver by yourself."

"Since you and your father are quite close, why did you drop his surname?" She asked, her curiosity now stronger than before.

"I told you before. My father is famous and I know I will be one day, but I don’t need it then. Growing up as a he-wolf, all I wanted was a normal puphood life. A life where I could go hunting with moonallies without gathering crowds. A life where I could fulfill my desire to draw natural scenery such as mountains, forests, cliffs, trees, rivers, valleys, and other natural things without spectators. I fulfilled my desire and also found a costly diamond."

"My alpha, I think you are becoming famous now."

"Yeah, gradually. I have a little feature of my mother and more of my father now. Even my sunglasses could not save me anymore."

"What’s his name?" She asked, curiosity burning within her wolf.

"You want me to tell you his name and be called a scammer or fake Oliver? We will meet him next Sun cycle," he smiled.

"I’m sorry, I won’t call you that again."

"I wanted to tell you everything about my family on your fourteenth birth moon before presenting the box to you, but I never got the opportunity. The Springfield territory wasn’t the best place either. I left the Santorini the day you came back."

"It’s alright; Sun cycle is here already," she said confidently, though her wolf felt a slight tremble beneath her calm.

She noticed a drop in his countenance. Probably because of his father’s invitation. Her chest tightened painfully. She slowly grabbed his hand as he would have done to her if she had been the sad one. She locked her gaze on him, silently promising strength.

"If something is fated to happen, nothing stops it. Our first meeting was a miracle and our coming together again as mates was also a miracle. The universe will keep us together if we are destined to be together."

"If we are not?"

"As long as Moon Goddess keeps us alive, we will choose our own fate." Her voice grew firmer, as though convincing both him and herself.

"What fate would you choose for us?"

"Being together forever," she whispered and kissed his lips again.

Brandon’s face lit up shortly and soon broke into a smile. She felt like a burden was lifted from her shoulder. She never knew his unhappiness would weigh so heavily on her wolf.

"What would you choose?"

"I will choose the same," he said.

"What do you think of my story?"

"The new one or the rejected ones?"

"The rejected ones."

"They are good, I like your logical flow but the story is..."

"Oh my moon goddess!" She stood up and moved away from him, her heart sinking.

"Moonblessed, listen; I’m going to be honest with you. There is nothing special about the story you wrote. It would have been if you had found your blood parents. Everything you wrote was rotating about you being an outcast and the challenges you faced growing up with an abusive Alpha. I love your decision to start a fresh novel. Write your true-life story again."

"I just did!"

Brandon pulled her closer and cupped her chin. "Moonblessed, you missed a lot of things."

"Things like what?" She asked, her voice softer now.

"Us! You need to tell the world about your first love. Tell them what transpired between your blood mother and your parents. You were not adopted. They also need to know why your sibling hates you and other things that are going to unfold soon."

"Wait...what? Do you know why she hates me? Did she tell you?"

"She did not tell me, I figured it out," he whispered.

"Please, tell me!"

"I’m going to be your editor in this new story; would you allow me?"

Uncontrollable tears flowed down her cheeks. Her wolf trembled with overwhelming emotion.

"It’s okay."

"Thank you," she gasped and pulled him closer again.

"I will never lose you again... not in this life or the next," he whispered, capturing her lips in a lingering kiss.

Her wolf purred beneath her skin, and she nodded, accepting the bond that tied their souls

"Then keep me... because I never want to be out of your sight again either. My heart skips each time I remember that tomorrow is Lunara’s show," she murmured.

"Do you know she is actually building fans for you?"

"What do you mean?" 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"When the time comes, all her followers would want to hear your side. Your story won’t be told on crystal screens. It will be written and sold at an outrageous price!"

Her lips curved unconsciously, hope flickering brightly within her wolf.

"We are going to the general territory park tomorrow and I have invited two wolves. We need to prepare you for Sunday’s meeting."

"Alright my alpha."
