Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 216-Two Can Play This Game
Iris:
I spent the whole day at the location of the shoot. They were filming a new commercial for perfumes. Kash and I barely interacted.
He was extremely busy as well. I watched him receive a lot of calls. Many people were congratulating him on getting crowned. I was not really sure when it was going to happen, but it had to be soon.
I began to remember what he had told me previously about his marriage to Lara, that it was not a serious thing. Then I also thought about his hunger for power and the crown. Was that his excuse? If that was his excuse, then of course it meant nothing to me.
"What are you doing here thinking for the past fifteen minutes?" Kash remarked from behind me as he approached, holding a mug of coffee for me and one for himself.
I gave him a quizzical look before staring ahead again, not accepting the coffee.
"You’re upset about the honeymoon thing, aren’t you?" he asked, and I scoffed, still not turning around to give him another glance.
"I’m going to the North tomorrow to get crowned. Then I will return in two or three days after all the celebrations," he continued.
As he paused, I started to chuckle.
"And then you will go on a honeymoon and all that. You don’t have to tell me all this. It is your life. You get to do whatever you want," I finished for him.
He did not have to come and say all these things to me as if he were trying to get my permission, while at the same time rubbing salt into my wounds.
"I want you to take care of yourself while I’m gone," he told me, and I rolled my eyes before finally turning around to look at him. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
I folded my arms across my chest to appear confident and not like a woman who had waited far too long for an explanation when cheating never has one.
"I will take care of myself. Do not worry. Or maybe you are afraid that once you leave, I will run away with my children again," I replied.
The moment I said that, I watched a frown spread across his forehead.
"You would not do that. You know everyone is keeping an eye on you now," he warned in a stern tone, then looked down to straighten his posture again.
When he lifted his gaze, a softer look crossed his face as he offered me the coffee once more.
"I would rather be caught dead than accept any kind gesture from you ever again," I commented, watching hurt fill his face as my words landed.
I stepped past him to take care of the rest of the things.
After the shoot was done, we returned home. The kids stayed with me throughout the day.
I did not leave them with Zoe, even when she tried hard to make them stay. The issue was that Markus was also back, and I did not want my children around him.
He never knew when to stop, and I was afraid he might say something hurtful in front of my children that would stay with them forever.
I came home in a separate car, and when I arrived, I quickly picked up both my children and stepped inside the mansion.
It seemed they were having a grand dinner for Markus’s return, as if he had come back after slaying a monster.
"Kids, go to your room, okay? I will come and freshen you up," I told them as I put them down, gently patting their backs.
I had only taken a few steps when I noticed something in the living room. In the hallway behind it, two shadows stood partially hidden.
From the shape of the woman, I could tell it was most certainly not Zoe. There was another person there as well, someone who was staying with us, and the silhouette looked exactly like that person.
I could have walked away, but something about the shadows made me so uneasy that I started to move down the hallway very quietly.
"I told you, I will do whatever you say."
My steps halted when I heard Markus’s voice.
"Just please do not tell Zoe anything about it, because if you do, trust me, she will ask for a divorce, and then she will stay here forever, spending her brother’s money. Would you want that?"
Markus spoke carefully, as if trying to trick someone into keeping the secret he was asking them to keep.
"And I told you, all you have to do is take Zoe and get the fuck out of the mansion."
As soon as I heard Lara’s voice, my breath caught in my throat.
For a moment, I thought it was wrong to listen to their conversation. But the context was odd. I had never played games with anyone.
All this time, I had been used as an object, as a tool, in everyone’s game. But this time, my hands started to feel restless, as if I needed to start playing.
With everything going on and Markus being back, I did not feel like I would be in safe hands.
Then I heard my children running out of the room, and I knew I had to step away, or they would see me. I hurried out of the hallway and into the living room. I was saved by only a few seconds, because right after that, Lara appeared.
"When did you guys arrive?" she asked my children instead of me.
"Just now," Amy replied, dancing happily as she jumped from one couch to the other.
"Kids, how many times have I told you not to jump on the couches?" I complained, reaching out to grab Amy, wrapping my arm around her small body and carrying her.
Then I did the same with Colin.
"Yes, please teach them some manners," Lara remarked.
Her comment made me put my children down and turn to face her.
