Chapter 123: Trafficker.

**Isabella**

"Luna, are you sure about this? The Star Moon pack is known for being strong warriors," Dan warned, his eyes pleading with me. I glanced at the black gate of the pack. He was probably right, but I had already made up my mind.

"I don’t give a damn, okay? I just want to find my baby," I fired back bitterly. I couldn’t afford to doubt myself now.

As we neared the gate, it began to creak open. My heart raced as I motioned for my men to take cover. We quickly ran and hid behind the trees and leaves, preparing for whatever lay ahead. The gate opened fully, revealing the interior of the Star Moon pack.

Five men emerged from the gate, their expressions troubled.

"What are we going to do, Beta Ken? Alpha isn’t back yet," one of the men asked with worry.

"I have no idea. I’ve been calling his line, but he’s not picking up," Beta Ken replied, frustration evident in his voice. "I warned him not to go to that place. I warned him that Alpha Tom couldn’t be trusted."

I listened attentively, realizing that the alpha of the Star Moon pack was among the foolish alphas who went to Tom and betrayed Upperville.

"I can’t let this slide. Come on, gather the men. We’re going after him," Ken commanded, determination in his voice.

This was actually great for us. If most of the warriors left, then we’d be able to easily get my baby out of there.

My eyes traveled to Dan and Cross. From their expressions, they shared the same sentiment. We had an opportunity, and we were going to take it.

After some time, several men began to stream out of the pack house. "Are you all ready?" Ken, the beta of the pack, asked them. They responded affirmatively, and almost immediately, they started entering the three SUVs parked outside. A few minutes later, they drove off.

I motioned to my men, and we all emerged from our hiding spots. "Now we just have to find a way to get in there," I said, scanning the surroundings.

"I have an idea," Cross said, and began to explain it to us.

"I think that’ll work," I agreed. "Everyone, hide and stay out of view."

They divided themselves into two groups, some hiding on the right, while others stayed close to the gate on the left. Satisfied with the plan, I walked to the gate. Taking a deep breath, I began to bang on the gate loudly. After a few seconds, someone shouted, "Who’s that?"

"I’m Macy, and I have news about your alpha," I called out, trying to sound confident.

There was a moment of silence before someone opened the gate and peered out. His expression turned suspicious as he looked at me, probably thinking I was crazy for coming alone.

"Are you alone?" he asked cautiously.

"Yes," I nodded, keeping my nerves in check.

Just as the gate was about to fully open for me, my men burst out of hiding and rushed inside the pack.

"Seize him!" I ordered, and Dan grabbed the man who had opened the gate before he could escape.

"Who are you people, and what do you want from us?" the man asked, eyeing us suspiciously.

"Where is the baby?" I gritted my teeth angrily. "Where!"

"What baby—" Before he could finish his sentence, Cross punched him.

"Now, are you ready to answer us?" Cross asked sharply.

The man winced in pain, holding his jaw. "I don’t know what you’re talking about," he muttered in a shaky voice.

"Stop lying!" I snapped, my patience wearing thin. "We know you have him. Tell us where he is, or things will get much worse for you."

"I swear, I don’t know anything about a baby," the man pleaded, fear evident in his eyes.

"Enough!" Dan stepped forward, grabbing the man by the collar. "You’re coming with us. Maybe a change of scenery will jog your memory."

"No, no, please don’t take me away, please," he begged desperately.

"Then start talking," I whispered, not wanting to attract attention. I glanced around cautiously. Outside, the pack was deserted, most likely because they had left with Beta Ken. However, I knew that some of Ken’s people were still inside, and if we didn’t act quickly, we might get caught.

"I swear I have no idea what you’re talking about, please believe me," he pleaded, his eyes wide with fear.

Dan sighed and motioned to one of our men. "Close his mouth," he ordered, pulling out a blade from his pocket. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"What... what are you doing now?" the man stuttered, his eyes fixed on the blade. "What are you going to do with that?"

"I’m going to use it to gouge out your eyes," Dan said coldly.

The man’s gaze darted to me, pleading for mercy, but my expression remained stern.

"Do it, Dan," I urged, and immediately the man cried out.

"I’ll talk, I’ll talk," he exclaimed with fear.

"Then do it," I barked. "Tell us everything you know."

"I think you should ask Lance; he’s the one who’s into that shady business of buying pups."

My fist clenched tightly. Some bastard was out there selling babies; that’s absurd.

"Where can we find this Lance person?" I asked.

"He lives in the pack house, but he left with Beta Ken."

"You’re going to take us to his house," I motioned to my men to pull him up. "Don’t forget to keep it quiet; we don’t want to attract any attention," I warned them as the man began to lead the way.

As the man led us down a path, the night enveloped us in its quiet embrace, broken only by the occasional chirping of birds.

Despite the man telling us that Lance wasn’t around, I insisted on going to his house. Nathan might still be there.

When we reached Lance’s door, I motioned for the man to knock. After a moment, the door creaked open, revealing a young lady. Before she could react, we pushed our way inside, the urgency of our mission overriding any sense of politeness.

"Where is he?" I demanded, scanning the room for any sign of Nathan.

The young lady looked bewildered, fear flickering in her eyes. "Who... who are you looking for?"

"My baby," I snapped, my patience wearing thin. "Where is he?"

"I-I don’t know," she stuttered, shrinking back as my men spread out through the house, searching every nook and cranny.

"We know he’s involved in selling pups," I snapped at her. "Tell us where he is, and we might consider showing you mercy."

The young lady’s eyes widened in fear, and she pointed towards a door at the end of the hallway. "I swear I...don’t know."

"Start talking or I’ll fucking kill you! Where is my son?" I yelled desperately.

"He’s in the basement," she whimpered, stepping backwards, fear evident in her eyes.

"Take us there, come on, lead the way," Dan urged, pushing her forward.

She led us towards the basement, opening the door for us to enter. The room was dark, but I could sense Nathan’s presence, and it fueled my determination.

"Lead the way," I pushed her again, my impatience growing.

She began descending the stairs, and we followed suit. The basement was dark, but I could see a baby cot in the corner. My heart raced as I rushed to it and found Nathan sleeping inside.

I picked him up, cradling him in my arms. Tears of relief flooded my eyes, but my joy was short-lived. Nathan was limp, not waking up despite my efforts.

"Why isn’t he waking up?" I asked, my voice trembling with fear.

"It’s the drug, it makes them sleep," the woman replied fearfully .

"You gave some sleeping pills to my baby?" I glared at her, anger boiling inside me.

"It wasn’t me, I swear," she begged. "It was Lance..."

"Lance, is he your husband?"

"Yes," she nodded, fear evident in her eyes.

"What was his reason for buying my son?" I demanded, my anger boiling beneath the surface.

"I... don’t..." Before she could finish her sentence, Dan slapped her across the cheek. She fell to the ground, rubbing her bruised cheek, her eyes wide with fear.

"I’ll ask again, why did your husband buy my baby?" I demanded coldly.

"He sells them to someone... I swear I don’t know the name of the man," she stuttered, tears welling up in her eyes.

"A man?" I raised an eyebrow. "So this isn’t the first time he’s done that."

She shook her head. "No, he secretly buys the pups and gives them to this man, but he’s never told me the name of the person before. All I know is that whoever it is, must be quite powerful, probably one of the elders of Upperville."

"Is your alpha aware of this?" I questioned further.

"No, only a few people know, including Beta Ken," she replied, her voice trembling.

"This is fucking crazy," I muttered, disbelief coursing through me. Someone was out here trafficking pups. It was absurd.

Suddenly, one of my men rushed into the basement. "Luna, there’s a situation. Lance and some people are outside," he reported urgently.
