Chapter 117: Sacrifice.

**Tom**

"What the fuck are you doing right now?" Chris struggled on the bed, trying to break free. "Let us go right now."

"And why would I do that?" I rolled my eyes lazily. "I already told you, I need your wolf genes."

"Then take mine," Tara chipped in. "Take my genes then," she repeated slowly. Her voice was steady despite the fear in her eyes.

Chris looked at Tara, who was also chained to the bed beside him. "Stop saying nonsense, Tara. What has gotten into you?" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"I don’t have enough reason to carry on," she said sharply. "I’ll willingly sacrifice myself for him." She directed her last words to me.

"Don’t listen to her," Chris barked at me. "Take me instead."

"Enough, you morons," I snapped, tired of their display. "What do you fucking think you’re doing? A Romeo and Juliet play? Pathetic."

Tara’s eyes turned back to me. "You want alpha genes, right? I’m willing to give you mine. Just let Chris go."

"Stop it, Tara," Chris growled in frustration. "You don’t even have alpha genes."

"I don’t care," Tara insisted. "This is my choice."

I leaned against the wall, arms crossed, watching their exchange with a mix of amusement and irritation. "You both seem to misunderstand your situation. You’re not in a position to negotiate."

"Why us?" Chris strained against his chains, glaring at me. "Why do you need our genes so badly? We’re not even alphas."

I smirked, walking closer to him. "Because your genes are still strong. They have potential. And I need that potential to become the most powerful alpha."

"Please, just take mine. Let him go." Tara’s eyes pleaded with me.

I shook my head, chuckling darkly. "Oh, Tara. It’s not that simple. I need both of you. And the fact that you’re both willing to sacrifice yourselves for each other? That’s just a bonus."

"Fuck you!" Chris’s growl deepened, as his eyes flashed with anger. "You’re a fucking monster."

"Perhaps," I grinned, shrugging. "But I’m a monster with a plan. And you two are crucial to that plan."

"If you promise to let Chris go, I’ll do whatever you want. Just... please."

I leaned in close to Tara, my face inches from hers. "You really think I’d let one of you go? After all the trouble I’ve gone through to get you here?"

"Please." Tara’s eyes filled with tears, but she didn’t back down.

I straightened up, looking between the two of them. "You both amuse me. But unfortunately, your pleas fall on deaf ears."

Jason walked into the lab carrying some of his equipment.

"Where have you been?" I asked sharply. "I’ve been waiting for you."

"Well, Alpha, there’s a little situation at the other lab," he stated nervously.

"What again?" I snapped, rolling my eyes. "Do you want me to fucking end you?"

"He’s right," Carl said as he walked into the lab. "The failed enhanced wolves have totally gone crazy, and most have almost broken out of their chains."

"What?" My brow arched in surprise. "They’re that strong?"

"Very much strong," Jason breathed anxiously. "We need to get rid of them before they escape the lab and begin to attack us."

I nodded. "Alright, but wait." I raised my hand slightly. "I have a plan. Gather the alphas."

"What are you planning to do, Tom?" Carl looked at me skeptically.

"Did you tell the elders about the change of plans?"

"I did," he nodded solemnly. "And they agreed to sacrifice the alphas."

"Fucking bastards," I shook my head in amusement. "They’re so fucking hungry for power. Go get the alphas."

"But if we throw them into the lab, aren’t those things going to kill them?" Carl wanted to know. "How do we extract their genes if they’re dead?"

I smiled. "Don’t worry about that. Jason already developed a way of extracting the wolves’ genes from a dead wolf, but only that of an alpha. It doesn’t work with the others."

Jason nodded, confirming my statement. "It’s a recent development, but it’s reliable."

Carl sighed, clearly uneasy. "Alright, I’ll gather the alphas. But this had better work, Tom."

"It will," I assured him. "Now go. Time is of the essence."

As Carl left to gather the alphas, I turned to Jason. "Get everything ready. We’ll need to act fast."

Jason hurried to set up his equipment, his hands shaking slightly from the tension. I watched him for a moment before turning my attention to the monitors displaying the chaos in the other lab. The failed enhanced wolves were a terrifying sight, their strength evident in the way they struggled against their restraints.

"How many are there?" I asked.

"At least a dozen," Jason replied. "And they’re only getting stronger."

"Good," I muttered. "That will make the sacrifice all the more valuable."

"You’ve totally lost it, Beta Tom," Chris muttered with a dark chuckle, enraging me.

"Beta Tom?" I curved my brow, stepping closer. "I can see you don’t need your fucking tongue anymore, Chris."

Thankfully for Chris, I was distracted when Carl returned with the alphas, who were grinning from ear to ear. Oh, they had no idea what was about to hit them.

"Is everything ready, Alpha Tom?" one of them asked.

"Yes, sure," I nodded, forcing a smile. "We’re going there right now. Come on," I motioned for them to follow me out.

"But what about them?" another alpha pointed at Tara and Chris on the bed.

I half expected them to expose our plans, but they zipped their mouths shut.

"They’re just fucking weak omegas," I explained. "Now come on."

I led them down the hallway slowly. The closer we got to the lab, the louder and harder the growling became.

"What’s going on there?" one of the stupid alphas asked. I had to force myself not to snap at his silly questions.

"Oh, they’re not happy campers," I chuckled. "Pay them no heed. Now, open the door."

Carl opened the door and motioned for them to enter. My brows curved in amusement as they entered without questions. Just then, Carl locked the transparent door, securing it.

The alphas turned towards us, confused. "Why did you lock us in?"

"I’m sorry, but we have to sacrifice you for the greater good," I shrugged. "Now turn around and let those things kill you, motherfuckers."

"No, please," they began begging frantically.

"Please, Tom, don’t do this," one of them screamed. "You’re not going to get away with it."

"Oh, but I will," I smirked. "Because the elders are in on this."

Their eyes grew wide like saucers. So fucking amusing.

"Release them," I ordered Jason, who clicked on the remote button, releasing the failed enhanced wolves from their restraint.

I watched in satisfaction as they began to rip the alphas apart one by one. The room was filled with the sound of snarls and screams.

The transparent barrier held, allowing us to observe the spectacular site safely. I could see the terror in the alphas’ eyes, their realization that their power and status meant nothing in the face of raw, uncontrolled savagery.

"This is the price of power," I muttered, more to myself than anyone else. "Sacrifice and ruthlessness."

Carl stood beside me with a pale expression. "This had better work, Tom."

"It will," I assured him, my eyes never leaving the scene. "This is just the beginning. With their genes, we will create a force unmatched by any."

As the last of the alphas fell silent, the failed enhanced wolves turned their attention to the remains, tearing into them with pure hunger.

"Let’s get this over with," I said, turning to Carl. "We need to be ready for Razor."

"But how do we extract the genes now?" Carl scrunched his nose at the bloody mess inside the lab.

"It’s alright," I assured him. "We just need the brains of the dead alphas. The main problem is how to get their remains out of there." I sighed deeply.

"Don’t worry about that," Jason stepped in with his remote. "I’ll extract the oxygen and force them to collapse."

"Great," I nodded. "Now do it quickly. We’ve wasted enough time already."

Jason pressed the button, and within seconds, it was clear it had taken effect because the savages began to gasp for air frantically. I watched in satisfaction, glad that my plan was working.

But suddenly, it was as if they started resisting it and were becoming more violent. They quickly turned their attention to us and began hitting the door, trying to force it open.

"What’s going on?" Carl asked in panic, but I didn’t have any answer. "What the fuck is going on?"

"I don’t know!" I yelled before turning to Jason. "What... is wrong, you bastard?"

"I’m not sure," Jason shook his head, taking a weary step back. "They’re functioning without... oxygen."

"Yeah, I can see that," I snapped. "How’s that poss—" I trailed off when one part of the door fell off.

"Fuck!" I cursed. "We have to get out of here, right now!"
