Almighty Father System-Chapter 146: Realizing What Matters.

Inside the warehouse, Dalton woke up and found himself tied to a wooden chair. He tried to struggle but it yielded him no results. He tried to speak but a cloth was gagging his mouth, so he could only grunt.

A calm and steady voice greeted him, "Hello, Mister Dalton Ray."

Dalton froze, he knew that his captor knew of him. The dark warehouse was slowly illuminated by dim yellow lights. It was enough for Dalton to see the outline of the figure sitting a few meters away from him. However, he could not recognize him.

He was still under the influence of the knockout drug from earlier. Leo asked, "Do you want some water?"

Dalton nodded, and Leo snapped his fingers. Jock and another guard came over from the side. The guard took out the cloth stuffed inside the captive's mouth and Jock tilted a water bottle for him to drink it.

After a few moments, Leo said, "Mister Dalton, I have a few questions for you, and I expect you to answer them honestly and tell me the core truth about those issues.However, to make sure that our time is not wasted, and how strong my resolve is, my associate will make you suffer a little."

Dalton opened his eyes wide in shock and he wanted to say something when the guard who had earlier taken out the cloth from his mouth grabbed the handful of hair and pulled his head back before Jock switched the bottle with a canister of beer. He looked at the young guard who was holding Dalton's head down, and said, "Cloth."

The guard spread the cloth over Dalton's face, and Jock began to pour out the beer in the canister over the face. This was an alternative of the water boarding torture technique. The pour continued for a good five-six seconds, but they were enough to make Dalton feel suffocated and the latter tried to break away, but he was tied very firmly.

Leo snapped his fingers, and Jock stopped, the cloth was removed and Dalton was panting hard. His face was flushed with blood, and Leo said, "Now you understand what would happen to you if you lied to me."

Dalton nodded, his high was gone, and he knew that these guys would really kill him. Leo asked, "What did you get to ram your truck in the vehicle of Mister and Missus Cardinal four years ago?"

Dalton shivered, he opened his eyes wide, this was something that nobody knew, but this guy was confronting him and the tone of his speech was steady as well.

Dalton hesitated and Leo said, "Five, four, three.."

Dalton crumbled and said, "No, no, please don't do it. I'll speak. Please, not that again."

Leo hummed and Dalton took a few breaths to calm down as he said, "I have no idea who I was hitting. My sister approached me and she told me that if we manage to pull this off, we would get a life without worrying to pay the rent and all. I got a small house on the eastern side of the city."

Leo sighed and asked, "How did you do it?"

Dalton took a few moments to recollect it all and said, "My sister came up to me, she was upset that Dylan, her husband, refused to go ahead. The person who asked him to do this was a rich man and he promised that none of the heat will catch up to them.

She thought he was a coward, and so she went behind Dylan's back and contacted this man. It was a simple thing but the person, umm, Prime, something, that guy said that since Dylan refused his generosity, he should pay the price and we must make it so that he has committed the crime.

After the accident, we framed Dylan, and to make sure that he doesn't bitch on us, we kinda threatened him with Mathew. Dylan kept silent the whole time, and that is how he went inside."

Leo asked, "What did your sister get out of this deal?"

Dalton replied, "I am not sure but she lives in the eastern luxury apartments, Jade Vine avenue, and Mathew is going to the Primus Elementary. She is currently working as a single mom streamer in Yulu."

Leo raised his brow and he mumbled, "Fate can be a really tricky thing."

He stood up from his chair, and said, "Get him drunk, as wasted as possible, and then stage a similar car accident as to what he did with my parents."

The people were not surprised, Jock had already told him that Leo would be going for the kill. They have spent enough time in training at the new Security company headed by Simon Silence.

After his instruction, Leo walked out and Jock followed him. Leo said, "Jock, stay here, and manage the entire thing for me. I promised my wife that I would not dirty myself this time. Make sure that he doesn't live through this."

Jock nodded and said, "I understand, Sir."

Leo got into his car, and then he drove back home. Snow was surprised to see him at the door, and asked, "Love, what happened?"

She checked him from head to toe and the young man sighed as he put his arm around her neck and they slowly walked inside the house, and he said, "Had it not been for you reminding me, I might have lost control, but it is fine now. I am home."

He realized that he doesn't have to kill the man himself, it would certainly not bring back his parents, but it would definitely cause him to grow colder.

Snow looked at him with a smile on her face and said, "I am proud of you." ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

Leo looked at her with a faint smile as well and embraced her in his arms. The young lady lingered in his arms for a bit when she sensed something and said faintly, "Lily is awake, she had a nightmare and is now sleeping in our room."

Leo took a deep breath and then said, "I will take a cold shower tonight."

Snow smiled and she kissed him causing Leo to sigh and leave while mumbling, "Such a tease."

After taking a quick shower, he returned to his bed and found that Lily was laying on the bed with her body arched inwards like a bundle. The young man lay down beside her and asked, "Baby, are you awake?"

His voice was calm and soft as a whisper. Lily slowly turned over, and she buried her head in his chest. Leo cradled her and gently patted her back as he asked, "What did you see?"

Lily whispered, "I saw that your eyes have turned cold and your hands were covered with blood. I couldn't help but scream in the nightmare and wake up."

Leo was stunned and then he consoled her, "Baby, how can that be? See, am I not here now, are my hands covered with blood?"

Lily peeked at him and shook her head before he continued, "Sometimes, dreams can represent our greatest fears. It could be one of your fears, don't worry, it would be alright. I will not let that happen."

Lily hummed but she didn't say anything else and burrowed closer to his chest and put her little arms around him. Leo smiled and placed his arm around her as well. The young man heard a system notification, 'Ping: Host, while you are making sure that your daughter is safe and healthy, please make sure that you monitor her mental stress levels as well. To aid you in this task, you are provided with the blueprints to a smart health monitoring system.'

Leo nodded a little and then he said, 'Thank you system.'

'Ping: The pleasure is all mine, host.'

The night passed quickly and then the next morning, after finishing their morning runs, the family assembled around the dining table. Lily was still a little shaken and the young man took special care to be soft next to her. He was smiling, making jokes, and at the same time, he was pampering her as well.

After a few minutes, Snow turned on the TV, it happened to be a sunday. The news flash was showing a few highlights of the things that took place in the city. Suddenly, the presenter said, "We are just getting this in from the Southern City Junction. A man crashed his car into the stone barricades planted on the sidewalk of the area. The collision caused the car to flip over three times, and the person inside is not showing any sign of movement."

After a few moments, a small window opened up on the right upper corner and the lady asked, "Justin, what is the update?"

Justin replied, "Well, Sedney, from what we know the emergency services have come over and they are trying to resuscitate the passenger, however, given the impact of the collision, it seemed to be bad news just delayed because of a missing confirmation."

At this moment, the door was knocked over, and Snow spotted Jock coming over. The guard nodded to her and said to Leo, who was feeding Lily, "Sir, it is done."

Leo nodded and his eyes didn't leave his daughter's face. Leo knew that revenge was important but it wouldn't make up for his past, it would only secure his future, however, his daughter deserved all the love, and time he could give her, she was his future.
