All My Superpowers Come from the Law of Causality-Chapter 136: New Applications of Ghostly Illusion
No one knows how much time has passed.
The one-hour resurrection effect of Unyielding Dead ended, and Su Xin was resurrected instantly after his death.
However, he did not open his eyes. Instead, he remained in a Self-Deception Stealth State, continuing to deeply ponder his various abilities and characteristics.
After much deliberation, he believed there were only two traits that might hold a slight potential to solve the weakness of being unable to escape from binding.
The first is Ghostly Illusion.
This trait has been used twice so far: once for testing when he initially acquired the trait, and the second time was not long ago in Sunshine Community.
In Su Xin's view, this trait actually isn't very effective. He chose it initially only because the other trait was even more useless.
Normally, the use of this trait should allow him in a Ghostly Illusion state to pass freely through any obstacles, exploring everything around him at will, and controlling the timing of his resurrection to a certain degree.
However, his Self-Deception ability and Super Sensing Sketching trait, when combined, are much more practical than Ghostly Illusion.
After all, Ghostly Illusion has a time limit, isn't very fast in movement, and cannot perform Instant Teleportation. If he sees the enemy, he cannot attack but must find them again after resurrection.
As for controlling the resurrection timing, it can only be delayed by half an hour at most, which isn't very useful.
Thus, this trait was nearly forgotten.
Until now.
In searching for techniques within his existing abilities and traits that could break free from restraints, Su Xin delved deeply into each trait, pondering, and discovered that Ghostly Illusion may still have potential to explore.
First, the Ghostly Illusion trait requires death to activate.
After activation, Ghostly Illusion exists in another void space, unable to interact with any materials of the real world, yet strangely able to see outside scenes and hear sounds.
Once the duration ends or Su Xin actively chooses to end it, Ghostly Illusion will instantly disappear, and he will resurrect.
In Su Xin's previous attempts, Ghostly Illusion always returned automatically after the effect ended; he hadn't actively controlled its return to the physical body.
So, if he actively controls it, and his physical body exists in more than one place, could he choose to resurrect using only a part of his flesh, thereby freeing another part from constraint?
Simply put.
When Su Xin is bound somewhere, if he has left a body part elsewhere in advance, like a hand...
Upon normal resurrection, the main trunk automatically serves as the body, instantly resurrecting.
But if he enters Ghostly Illusion and chooses to resurrect using that hand as the trunk, might that also succeed?
Here arises another issue.
That is the automatic return of flesh upon resurrection, or it vanishes automatically if it's too far away.
Su Xin previously noticed that separated blood, after a certain period, would not automatically return upon death and resurrection.
The same must apply to flesh.
Thus, what Su Xin needs to test are two points—
First point, how long after leaving the physical body can flesh remain outside?
Second point, how much flesh is needed to serve as an independent resurrection trunk, or can no matter how small a piece of flesh not be independently resurrected?
Thinking this.
Su Xin immediately manifested a fruit knife, unsheathed it unhesitatingly, and fiercely swung it towards his left hand, a blade gleam shooting forth, slicing into the finger base.
The blade gleam instantly slashed into the finger bone.
But the finger wasn't severed.
Su Xin merely grunted, frowning slightly, then pressed the fruit knife against the wound and sawed back and forth as if cutting through wood. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Blood flowed down his palm.
Su Xin remained expressionless.
Just today, he had died multiple times and been hit by various explosions and sniper shots, his tolerance for pain terrifyingly strong at this moment.
Soon, he sawed off the finger, then carefully took off his dark robe, carved out a palm-sized piece of flesh from his belly, and cut out a larger piece from his thigh.
These three were placed at different locations.
About twenty minutes later, Su Xin slit his throat with a knife.
After dying and resurrecting.
Su Xin found the flesh at the three places still existed and slashed his throat again to die.
This time, he chose to enter the Ghostly Illusion state, actively controlling the Ghostly Illusion to approach one of the pieces of flesh.
With a thought.
The Ghostly Illusion dispersed.
What he didn't see was the piece of flesh before him rapidly growing; dense flesh tendrils spread quickly, intertwined, and in the blink of an eye, formed into a complete human body.
And his body, just fallen due to throat slitting, vanished under the influence of some mysterious force, as if it had never existed.
Su Xin opened his eyes.
Sitting up from the ground, he looked around.
After realizing his location, he immediately understood—
"The experiment was successful!"
"It indeed works; as long as flesh is left outside, I can use the Ghostly Illusion trait to autonomously choose any piece of flesh as the body for resurrection."
Su Xin showed a pleased expression.
The next moment, his face slightly restrained the joy, his expression returning to seriousness.
He knew that though the experiment was successful, it only meant he could break free from restraint; whether it was practical enough still required further testing.
For instance, just now he moved through Ghostly Illusion to the front of this piece of flesh, then successfully resurrected autonomously. Now, would it be possible to resurrect using flesh secretly stored at ultra-long distances?
After all, the Ghostly Illusion moves slowly, has a time limit, and can't travel far distances. If he must move to the flesh's proximity for autonomous resurrection, it's not practical.
Also, he opted for the thigh flesh this time, weighing around two to three pounds; if every time it required such a large piece of flesh for autonomous resurrection, that'd be bothersome.
Could it be possible to use smaller flesh as the body?
To what extent can it be minimized?
Moreover, if flesh stored for too long decays, can it serve as a resurrection body?
Subsequently, Su Xin conducted multiple tests, gradually arriving at answers to these questions.
To his regret, the attempt at ultra-long-distance autonomous resurrection failed.
Meaning, Ghostly Illusion can only move to flesh's location for autonomous resurrection; otherwise, it will automatically resurrect using the main trunk.
Secondly, concerning flesh size, through several attempts, Su Xin estimated it requires over one percent of his total mass.
As for whether completely decayed flesh would obstruct autonomous resurrection, Su Xin couldn't test it for now, but known conditions lessen the practicality of such techniques.
Just to say, if Su Xin were captured someday, this technique would provide a chance to escape, albeit slim.
Of course, should someone capture him and decide to study his flesh, his chance of escape would greatly increase.
"With this in mind, the technique is quite useful after all, given they'll surely research after capturing me."
Su Xin laughed to himself.
After laughing, Su Xin set aside the Ghostly Illusion trait and opted to prepare for an in-depth test of another trait.
He believed the other trait potentially aiding in his escape from restraint was—Seamless Interaction.
Not long ago, he speculated that Seamless Interaction might grant him the ability to walk on water.
And upon further contemplation, he thinks this trait might serve more than just walking on water, potentially offering more untapped potentials.
