After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World-Chapter 1865: The Half-orc Villa (Part 1)
Alterra
The large Half-Orc Villa, located deep into what was now known as the Phase 1 area, was finally completed!
It took a while because the orcs kept wanting to put add-ons, adjust things here and there, and the like. ๐ป๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ธโฏ๐ท๐๐ฐ๐โฏ๐ญ.๐ค๐ฐ๐ฎ
For creatures that claimed to be simple-minded, they sure did change their minds a lot.
For example, one day theyโd ask the ceiling height to be adjusted. Another day, theyโd ask to add a little pond. And another, to move that same pond to outside so-and-soโs window, apparently so they could jump straight there in the morning.
Not all requests were followed, of course, but that was the designerโs scope to explain.
It was either that a certain stage of construction was already done, which limited some changes, while some changes were likely ones they would not care for in the future, so the designer would explain them the functional pros and cons of such changes.
Fortunately, Brianna grew up with little cousins back in Terran and knew how to simplify her explanations, despite borderline using jargon.
To be fair, it also had to do with how the orcsโ worldviews expanded as time went on.
They wanted to build more rooms for more of their brethren, even those they had yet to meet, and maybe never would.
With the expansion of Alterraโs influence, more and more people from different places came to Alterra. Through them (and also because they were asking for news about their old friends), the orcs came to find out more about other half-orcs out there.
They found out that there were more orc varieties than they thought, much like how the battle pets terrans brought in were. The difference was that despite the differences in appearances, they were essentially the same species.
It was quite exciting, and the three made a conscious decision that they wanted to give fitting rooms to most types out there.
More and more people were coming to Alterra. Lately, some new goblins did too, though they were mostly brought in as slaves from caravans, and then bought by the local goblins through fair means (and sometimes with some mild threats, courtesy of a human Alterran passing by).
Who was to say that the next caravan wouldnโt be bringing a half-orc with them instead? It was their turn to buy them off! The half-orcs were pretty rich now. They were very strong and capable, after all, and other than food and their home, they lived frugally, allowing them to save up a bit.
They worked extra hard when they decided on this intent. They wouldโve taken loans if they couldโve, but they already consumed that to build their house.
Anyway, freeing more half-orcs was their hope. The fact that they kept adjusting to half-orcs who may not exist or even come to them showed how much they wished to meet them.
The lot was quite large, about three times the average lot size each mercenary team was allowed to have.
They were quite proud of it too, so when some of their human friends insisted they hold a housewarming party, they really did have one.
It was a potluck arrangement set in the large garden. They kept almost all the vegetation already in the lot, just cutting down the area for the actual structures and the training areas.
There was also a relatively large manicured place for sparring (private sparring areas could be built after getting a license, paid for in the town center), and they set up the party here.
There was a large table in the middle where people would put the food they prepared. The half-orcs werenโt particularly good at making food, definitely not as good as their eating skills, so they commissioned several stalls and bought a lot of orders.
They preferred snacks and finger food for the most part, and it could be that there was a waterfall of food in the orc villa that day.
Many people were invited, but not everyone could go. At least there were some representatives.
Their closest friends were there, of course, and they happily toured them around.
Their closest friends were, unsurprisingly, members of the guard team. The half-orc trio, being guards, spent their time the most with them.
As for others, the Elders er, ministers, were also invited, as well as several people from the Glorious Hospitality tour company.
"Wow! This is a huge house!" Fred couldnโt help but whistle. It was a very customized villa that was built specifically for half-orcs, after all, even the bigger ones like Baku.
What they did for balance was to do high ceilings on the first two floors or so. The floors had a clear height of 4 meters, which is nearly twice the usual height of human bedrooms.
The ground floor was a large communal area for them. A large living room, a large dining room, a large kitchen, and so on. After all, their body types were so varying that the breadth each one consumed in their movements varied too.
The upper two floors had less height, but were still taller than human rooms, at around three meters.
They adopted jalousie windows because they were afraid of glass windows, with their strengths. And it had mostly an open design, with just enough privacy and flexibility, but otherwise, the spaces were shared.
Each bedroom was also rather large. For example, Bakuโs bedroom was as big as a humanโs whole floor.
It couldnโt be helped. Even a single movement, especially when he was lying down and sleeping, needed too much space, so any smaller wouldโve been stifling.
They also had some amenities specific to each archetype, some inside the house, and the others outside of it. For example, there were perches, back scratcher poles, and the like.
There were even oil stones area which were made of smooth river stones warmed over coal, which would be used to polish tusks or horns. There were grooming posts (despite there being no half-orcs with tusks around), molting posts, and so on.
Another one of the things the females noticed though... was a nursery on the ground floor.
It was an open area but had easy to clean but soft floors. There were cribs there, albeit empty. This was one of the new items available at the department store, rubbery floors.
They were designed for children, and they all whipped their heads towards Maomao.
