After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World-Chapter 1855: What to do with Old Shrao

Some associate territories were spiking in their own right, while some were focused on rebuilding, not to be left behind, and figuring out a way to find their own ’money-making’ industries.

Shiro, unlike the Lords of Bright and Belluga Villages, was an aborigine. His views and his ideas were limited, at least for now, and he acknowledged this. The Terrans also innovated, changed, and applied things very often, so they had to keep up and be updated, especially since they were so closeby.

So, Shiro left Fos and a few trusted people in Shrao behind to stay in Alterra for a few weeks, to see what else they had done and if he could also apply them. This was after stabilizing, especially after the subsequent disasters.

Speaking of industries, Shrao village could not compare to others in the region, but in reality, it was not doing too badly compared to the vast majority of villages in the world.

Their innovations were naturally limited, but they were still far ahead of most. It was just that comparisons happened versus those nearby.

They also copied Bright’s business in gathering and handling monster bones to be made into weapons and equipment. Not everyone had access to black metal, after all, so for the commonfolk, bone weapons were still the go-to, especially when their designs had been popularized, and more and more people were using them.

There were also plenty of Class E weaponsmiths awakened the past year or so, and they all needed their raw materials, right?

He also wondered what they could do with Old Shrao Village. It was definitely up for recovery, now that Voumi Town was an ally and there were several caravans that could use it as a resting spot to and fro the Alterra Region.

Should he get more people to move there? He was certain many of his people missed their old home, but the conveniences and advantages of being near Alterra were also very good.

He ought to make an offer soon. He remembered how Alterra got people to move so far away to the Iron Mountains. Didn’t they offer a lot of advantages there? Perhaps he should do the same.

Thinking of this, he found some of the people he made acquaintances with in the administration, which weren’t a lot, considering his dark history.

One of his few acquaintances was actually Loki, who was generally an unbiased guy who always saw the logical side of things. He also did not have a close relationship to Melissa or the late Matthew to have a personal vendetta against him.

They met during one of the reconnaissance missions, and Loki stayed in Shrao village for more than a day. He personally greeted and handled him, and respected Loki’s need for space. Somehow, they became drinking buddies.

Loki was also often up and about and he did pass through his area when heading north of Alterra. From acquaintances, they eventually became friends.

Anyway, they met in one of the tea houses with al fresco dining opening to a park. It was quite relaxing there, and they could also watch people using the park while they enjoyed good beverages and snacks.

Loki was also one of the intelligence officers, so as long as he fed him some good information, his affinity with the guy remained decent.

He knew that among the information department, not only the giver of the information (which could be citizens, guests, or the like) was given contribution points, but the intelligence officer to receive and confirmed it would also receive a portion. Basically, Loki also earned quite a bit of points thanks to Shiro.

On the flip side, on Alterra’s side, if the information wasn’t a secret, then sharing some of Alterra’s info to allies or subsidiaries wasn’t against the rules either.

From Loki, Shiro found out that Iron Mountains folk moved there because they were given good discounts for citizenships, huge contribution points, priority to buy properties, and so on.

Of course, in Shiro’s case, a lot of this couldn’t be applied so literally. He tried to have his own version of contribution points (as did many others), but the effects were limited. If one could just use the copper people could get from killing monsters, few people bothered making the points their goal.

It worked for Alterra only because it had so many things unique to it. Whether it was the food-related items, the extremely customized buildings, specialized knowledge, magic tools, and so on.

"In your case, you can simply give them better payment terms for their homes, discounts for territory-owned shops like the Restaurant and Weapon store, and so on." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Shiro took note of this.

"You might also want to invest in some demolition for long-term changes."

Sadly, the slot for customized building had long passed for Old Shrao, so even buying the blueprint of the houses from Alterra would not have a use anymore.

However, he could still make parks, a few simple manual constructions, and even open space for their modular temporary structures, like the ones Alterra used for their temporary clinics and warehouses during wars.

One of the main markets here was not just the caravans, but also trainees. Mobs at village levels were not that strong and might be insufficient for those who wished to reach levels 13 to 15 (most at this level might not receive EXP at all against normal village mobs), but the ones in towns might be too much for them.

Villagers at the peak of the power cap would usually have to travel far away from the safety of their village walls, risking a lot of things.

However, in villages near towns, they would encounter a number of town-level monsters, but most would still be village-level. A lot of the ideal level monsters for them would also appear. Shiro could market the place as the ideal leveling ground for people of that level, livening the economy while also increasing its passive defenses.

He could start investing more in its defense, and maybe add a few loose sentries outside the walls as well, so the hunters could use it as backing.

While marketing oneself as a ’stepping stone’ wasn’t very fragrant, in the practical view, it was actually a good niche because they were surrounded by villages with people who aim to improve. Wasn’t it good to be a part of that?
