After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World-Chapter 1415: Tree House
Chapter 1415: Tree House
While their parents were away, the children were also having the time of their lives.
Normally, they’d be looking for their parents, but they were too distracted this time.
The team created a treehouse for the babies. It was not a legitimate one that was all the way up a big tree, but a small one that was about a meter above the ground and arranged as if it were a treehouse. They even added a bonsai next to it for effect, creating an illusion for the children that they were indeed on a tree.
There were about three connected structures of varying heights, all connected by a sturdy bridge in between. It also had secure railings and the flooring remained all non-slip materials. There were also ‘leaf’ cushions underneath, just in case.
There were several play areas attached to it. There remained a mini slide from the tallest treehouse (just over 1.2 meters in height) landing on a grassy soft area.
On the lowest one, there remained a ‘treetop deck’ the kids could climb with small ladders. It also had secure fences to prevent accidents. They had a mini scope installed here, so they could pretend to be on the lookout, be pirates, or just spy at the gardens.
The lowest ‘house’ also had the largest floor area (well, for toddlers) with a nook with pillows where they could relax and hang out.
Not that kids could really stay in one place for long and just “chill”, of course.
There were also mini rock climbing areas that would get up to the mid-height treehouse, and an inclined net climbing area for the lowest.
Then, there were tactile walls underneath them, designed to engage the babies’ sense of touch. They could be textured panels (with descriptions), spinning gears, colorful beads and the like.
Finally, there was a connection with the cats’ catwalk that expanded from the neighbor’s house, so they’d see cats and kittens playing with them as well. In fact, some of the kittens had already found their way there, watching the babies play to their hearts’ content.
“Wowwwww!” Little Meatball squealed as he dropped down the slide, giggling adorably when he rolled past the bottom. The energetic little guy would then run back with his tiny feet, either climbing on the wall or climbing on the net, and then go on a ride again.
He’d get quite a bit of dirt on him, but they were already used to it at this point.
Little Pepper, on the other hand, was at the ‘roofdeck’ with the mini-scope. Theo was right there with her, teaching her how to use it.
After she got bored, she also took a smaller slide down from the roof deck, heading straight to the walls where she could rearrange the different color blocks.
“Well, that ought to calm them down,” Ansel said with a smile. He was among those who helped finish up this playground and seeing it used with such gusto was a point of pride.
Lately, the babies had started showing their powers again, which was incredibly worrying because as they grew older, their power seemed to have increased a bit.
They wondered if they would have to tether Meatball with a long leash. Before this, he had almost floated to the sky more times than was proper.
Pepper was no better. There were times they’d just see her in places like above the bookshelf or even on the beam.
The times they had mini heart attacks were concerning for their own health, too!
They had to stop their nursery for now, anyway they were just honorary members.
They knew that enough ‘challenge’ seemed to get the babies to calm down their usage. This treehouse, which was adjustable and improvable as needed, might just be what they needed.
“Well, we can just change things up whenever,” Ansel said with a shrug, though he was already thinking of what games to do so they would indeed get tired faster.
Should he make a climbing rope? Obstacle courses? Ah, that seemed good… Garan might actually agree with that one. More than once, he had mentioned sending the babies—especially Meatball—for some early training.
It was around this time that Meatball rolled another time from the slide to about a meter away. He sat there in a daze for a while before turning to Ansel.
The baby blinked those rounded eyes and immediately ran to his uncle. Ansel’s heart warmed as he kneeled down, meeting the baby boy’s hug. Did he come here to thank him for such a nice toy?!
The baby then innocently pointed at his treehouse. “Fwoat.”
Can you make it float?
“…”
Damn. Kids today can’t be satisfied.
…
No floating treehouses were done, of course, but fortunately the kid forgot about it as he was distracted by Maya and Horus, who had now gone back from school and were hanging out with friends. Like Theo, the two immediately headed to play with the baby, and another bout of giggles resounded in the gardens.
Soon, dusk descended, and Gwen had just gone off work. She went straight to this place to visit her mother when she heard the milky giggles of children.
She took a detour and entered the neighboring garden instead, joining Winona, who was now lounging on a park chair near the tree house.
“Nuuu mewbow! Thaz wong!” Pepper said with a pout when Meatball rearranged the textured panels. Pepper was trying to make the same textures roll on the same size for uniformity, Meatball was changing it up for ‘style’. Thus, conflict arose.
“Nuu! Ugwy!”
Pepper gasped. She disliked “Ugwy” things, how could Meatball say it for something she made?!
“Mewbow stoobid!”
The adults’ eyes twitched. How old were these babies again? Where do they get this vocabulary?!
Fortunately, the bigger kids were there and took the babies to other areas they liked more, dissipating another impending fight.
Theo held Pepper’s hand and led her back to the scope. “We wee go wook for pwetty things,” he said, that lisp of his due to his lack of a front tooth was still audible.
Horus, on the other hand, carried Meatball up to his shoulders. Although Horus was young, he was already a big kid who thought he was practically an adult. Fortunately, he was also strong so carrying a baby on his shoulders was no problem.
Maya, on the other hand, wiped imaginary beads of sweat on her forehead, relieved that they avoided a baby war today.
The adults couldn’t help but chuckle at the entire thing. Winona and Ansel laughed, while Gwen just went soft from hearing the conversations.
Aiya, what to do? She wanted to kidnap them.
She smiled and looked at Winona, who was holding her son. The blonde was currently feeding her son, also watching the kids play. She was still on maternity leave, so she had all the time to watch all the cuteness the entire day.
Gwen sighed in envy, touching her stomach. “I wonder when I’ll get my own little tykes.”
“It’ll come,” Winona said with a smile and she just let the other woman handle her boy. “Sheila was knocked up too, despite the level differences.”
“She’s a healer,” Gwen said. “Didn’t the labs say their physiques were different?” Although the chances still were not too high, it added a bit, which was enough to bless Sheila and Eagle.
Then, she sighed. “I should just work harder.”
It did inspire Winona though, and when she got back to work she’d raise a proposal: To create a safe fertility pill to make it easier for wishful parents to conceive faster~
