Chapter 201: Chapter 201: I’m Pregnant (Part 5)

Lucy is talking to a patient, her gaze turns cold as she sees Sarah, intuition tells her Sarah’s presence here is because of her.

Sure enough, watching Sarah walk towards her, Lucy writes a form for the patient, "Go pay first, then get a CT scan."

After the patient leaves, Lucy stands up, "Suddenly barging into my office, what do you intend?"

"Your husband is the one who fired me, right?"

"What? Not convinced?"

"I am not convinced."

"Even if you’re not convinced, there’s nothing you can do. He fired you because he overheard you insulting me. Serves you right for getting fired, doesn’t it?" Lucy walks around the table to face Sarah, with a half-smile, "You deserved to be fired, didn’t you?"

"Just a few insults, you could insult me back. What’s the point of taking someone’s job away?"

Sarah’s words make Lucy find it laughable, "Just a few insults? Sarah, do you think all the women in the world are your mom? I’ve long had enough of you, and didn’t have the Dean fire you just to let you have a bite to eat. Do you really think I’m easy to push around? You really overestimate yourself. My husband firing you was a very wise decision, and living without you messing around is quite comfortable."

Sarah, losing her mind in anger, lunges at Lucy like a rabid dog, baring her teeth and claws. Lucy presses her hand on the desk and kicks Sarah to the ground, dizzying her.

Michael Paxton, who has been silently eating breakfast, clears his throat twice, "Dr. Reed, shouldn’t you be ashamed for causing trouble after losing your job due to your careless mouth? Since knowing you, you’ve been known to me as someone who loves causing trouble. Previously, a young nurse left due to your bullying, and Dr. Eaton’s arrival made you even more harsh. In the beginning, you’ve been talking about her connections all the time. Frankly, having connections without competence is contemptible. Having both connections and competence, there’s nothing wrong with that. Isn’t it better to take a shortcut than to work unnecessarily hard?"

He takes a sip of water and continues, "Not to mention that Dr. Eaton’s husband is the financial backer of our hospital. I really don’t understand your dissatisfaction; is it because you feel unlucky compared to her? Ask yourself, if your father was the Prime Minister and your husband was the CEO of the Clan Green, and Dr. Eaton treated you as you do her, would you tolerate her for so long? You would’ve kicked her out right away, wouldn’t you? Don’t you even know yourself well enough? Now you have the audacity to cause a scene at the hospital. I think your firing was completely justified. As a doctor, if you can’t focus on your job and always pay attention to others, you might as well not work."

This long discourse leaves Sarah feeling utterly embarrassed. Her face turns white with humiliation. She picks herself up from the floor, brushes herself off, and silently leaves, tail between her legs.

The office grows quiet, Lucy picks up her coffee and drinks it slowly. She looks at Michael Paxton, "Thanks for speaking up for me just now."

"I said what I wanted to say; I know Sarah better than you do. Her emotional intelligence is low, and she talks without thinking, often saying things people don’t like."

Lucy smiles, returns to her seat, and starts calling patient numbers on the keyboard.

During consultations, her phone keeps ringing non-stop. She glances at the caller ID: it’s an international call, Mia Townsend’s number.

Lucy doesn’t answer but texts back: [Wait a moment, I’m busy]

After twenty minutes, she finally calls Mia back. Before she can speak, a crying voice comes from the other end.

"Why are you crying? What’s happened?"

"It’s nothing, I just miss you guys."

Lucy chuckles, "Silly girl, how’s life abroad?"

"Besides John, I don’t know anyone else. It’s a bit lonely." Mia’s voice sounds slightly dejected, "I wish you, James, and Robert were here too. I wouldn’t miss Country Y at all."

"Has my brother started working yet?"

"His job is settled; he starts next week, and we bought a house. The immigration paperwork is also in place."

Mentioning this, Mia’s mood improves, "We’ll be living here steadily from now on."

"It’s good to stay away from trouble, living abroad is nice. We may not see each other often, but it’s okay, we can visit each other in the future."

"Alright then, I won’t disturb your work anymore. Let’s chat when we’re free."

"Okay." Lucy hangs up the call.

She’s quite busy today, having lunch in the hospital canteen, and as a result, Jacob Green doesn’t return to Blossom Haven at noon either.

He arranges to meet Elijah Sheppard for lunch at a restaurant.

Elijah talks a lot, chattering non-stop since sitting down, while Jacob speaks less, mostly listening and occasionally replying, yet it doesn’t dampen Elijah’s enthusiasm to chat.

Just as Elijah’s chatty excitement peaks, Jacob suddenly asks, "What gift should I give my wife that she’ll like?"

Elijah looks puzzled, "Why ask me? I don’t have a wife."

"Help me think about what gifts women like."

"Why the sudden gift? Is there a special occasion?"

"No," he shakes his head, "I just want to give her a surprise."

"Oh wow, even Jacob Green knows how to be romantic now." Elijah grins, "Give her a child, your love’s creation."

"She doesn’t want a child for now."

"Are you silly? If there’s a child, would she really not want it?" Elijah eggs him on, "Quickly have a little Jacob, I want to be an uncle."

Jacob feels slightly tempted, "I’m afraid she’ll be mad."

"Accidents happen, understand?" Elijah says with feigned disappointment, "The dignified CEO of Clan Green being afraid of his wife, people would laugh their heads off."

"It’s not about being afraid, but avoiding family conflicts. You, eternal bachelor, wouldn’t get it."

"Yes, yes, having a wife is amazing, so amazing."

"I knew I couldn’t count on you for advice on these things." Jacob’s sight falls on the cute cartoon patterns on the restaurant wall, and he smirks, "I’ve got an idea."

"Tell me about it."

"It’s a secret." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"Fine, don’t tell me."

After lunch, Jacob returns to the company. Passing by the secretary’s desk, he specially instructs, "Go buy me a drawing tablet."

The secretary doesn’t know why he suddenly needs this but promptly responds, "Okay, Mr. Green, I’ll get it right away."

Jacob holds a smile as he returns to his office, pulls a pencil from the pen holder, and carefully sketches on paper, quickly drawing a cartoon version of Lucy. Putting the pencil down, he grips the paper, immensely satisfied.

When the secretary buys the drawing tablet, connects it to the computer, and installs the program, Jacob concentrates on his drawings.
