After Rebirth, I Accept The Arranged Marriage-Chapter 95: Hot and Swelling
Jessie Sterling heard Victor Morgan’s words, her head still tilted up to look at the man before her.
Perhaps not expecting such a response from him, Jessie felt a complex mix of emotions, but at the same time, a warmth spread through her heart.
In the fifty-something-degree winter of Southaven, she felt like she was on a scorching tropical island.
Her heart felt hot and swollen with emotion.
"Then give me a kiss," Jessie Sterling said suddenly, making a demand.
She maintained her upturned gaze, and with those words, it now looked as if she were asking for a kiss.
Victor Morgan hadn’t quite caught up with Jessie Sterling’s train of thought, but of course, he wasn’t going to refuse her request.
Bending down, Victor Morgan placed a kiss on Jessie Sterling’s rosy lips.
A sweet fragrance spread between his lips. Victor Morgan had to restrain himself, stopping just short of kissing her until she was breathless and moaning softly.
Just as Victor Morgan pulled away, Jessie Sterling took the initiative, wrapping her arms around his neck. With a slight lift of her hips, she pressed her lips to his once more.
"That’s your reward," Jessie Sterling said with a wide smile.
Victor Morgan suppressed the desire in his eyes and simply reached out to pinch Jessie’s ear.
"Hey!" Jessie immediately ducked into his embrace. "That tickles!"
Victor Morgan let out a low chuckle.
He took the chance to pull her fully into his arms, his large hand enveloping her shoulder. He lowered his head. "When do you want to go home?" Victor asked.
Jessie Sterling thought for a moment. "It was late when we got here the day before yesterday, and you didn’t get a decent home-cooked meal. Why don’t we have lunch here today before we go?"
"We?"
Jessie nodded, her fingers poking restlessly at Victor Morgan’s chest. "Hmph," she mumbled. "Didn’t you come all this way just to take me home? I suppose I can reluctantly grant you this honor."
Though she wasn’t looking at Victor Morgan as she spoke, her air of playful pride was impossible to miss.
Victor Morgan immediately broke into a low chuckle. The deep sound seemed to rumble from his chest, making Jessie’s ears, still pressed against him, tingle and vibrate.
Director Sterling didn’t show much sadness when he learned Jessie would be returning to Aethelburg with Victor Morgan after lunch.
"That’s right," Director Sterling said with a smile. "You two are newlyweds. Living apart just won’t do."
After lunch, however, Faye Fuller pulled Jessie aside for a thorough talk.
It was her daughter’s first time going to her in-laws’ home as a wife, so Faye Fuller advised Jessie on what gifts to prepare for her visit to ensure she didn’t seem ill-mannered.
Finally, Quincy Sterling yawned. "Just let me know if you run out of money." She didn’t share Jessie’s penchant for spending, but she got a great sense of accomplishment from earning money for her "Eldest Miss" to use. Now that her sister was headed to Aethelburg, Quincy wasn’t sure if she’d get that chance anymore.
Jessie chuckled, walking over to ruffle Quincy Sterling’s hair. "Who needs her little sister’s pocket money?"
Quincy’s freshly cut short hair was instantly ruined by Jessie’s "abuse." Quincy was speechless. "..."
She had to try so hard to hold back!
「Back in Aethelburg」
Jessie first went to the old Morgan estate.
Her in-laws had never pressured her to visit, either before or after the wedding, but Jessie couldn’t just play dumb and ignore all propriety.
She could blame being busy before the wedding, but a visit was certainly in order now that they were married.
Fortunately, while the Morgan family had many rules, they were all respectable people who followed them, which made them easy to get along with.
Besides, both Mr. and Mrs. Morgan were professionals with busy social schedules. They had never required Victor to return to the estate weekly, and they certainly didn’t institute a new rule for the young couple to "clock in on time" just because they now had a daughter-in-law.
After leaving the estate, Jessie felt like she was about to fall apart.
She sat in the back seat and let out a long sigh. Everyone was perfectly pleasant, but for someone who drew energy from within rather than from social interaction, that one meal had drained almost all the energy she’d stored up over the last few days.
"Tired?" Victor sat beside her, gently squeezing her hand.
Jessie hummed in agreement. "A little. I want to sleep."
Victor raised the armrest, motioning for Jessie to lean against his leg. He reached out and began rubbing her temples.
"Aren’t you tired? You didn’t get to Southaven until late last night, and then you got up so early today to rush back home." Jessie didn’t refuse Victor’s massage, lying down obediently as she murmured.
Victor’s cuff brushed against her cheek, and the faint scent of sandalwood from it was incredibly calming. It only made Jessie feel even drowsier.
Victor said, "I’m fine. If you’re sleepy, just rest. You can get up when we get home."
Jessie wanted to insist that she was fine, but perhaps it was the faint, pleasant scent from Victor’s cuff... Her lips moved, but she didn’t even realize no sound came out. With her head pillowed on Victor’s firm thigh, she drifted off to sleep.
Their driver, Uncle Carter, had been with Victor Morgan for many years. He had even been the one to pick Jessie up from the airport on her first trip to Aethelburg. Now, catching a glimpse of the young master and young madam in the rearview mirror, he couldn’t help but smile.
’He’d never seen his young master be so attentive to someone before. Marriage really has changed him,’ he thought with a smile.
When they arrived at the courtyard house, Victor didn’t wake Jessie. He simply lifted her from her seat, carried her into the elevator, and brought her all the way back to their home, Sixi Courtyard.
Jessie woke up in a daze when she felt a warm cloth on her face.
She opened her eyes to find herself sitting on a stool in the bathroom. Victor Morgan stood behind her, holding a bottle of makeup remover she’d left there, studying it to figure out how it worked.
Jessie stood up, took the bottle of makeup remover from him, and grumbled, "Why didn’t you wake me?"
Victor replied, "You were sleeping so soundly."
Now that Jessie was awake, Victor left the bathroom to her.
It was over an hour later when Jessie finally emerged.
Victor, who had been handling some work nearby, glanced at the time in surprise.
’How can someone who’s so tired she can barely keep her eyes open spend over an hour dawdling in the bathroom?’ He couldn’t quite wrap his head around it.
Jessie had thought something might happen during their first night sharing a bed in their new home. But less than two seconds after her head hit the soft pillow, she was completely dead to the world.
Naturally, nothing happened that night.
The next morning, Jessie was awakened by a strange sensation behind her.
