After Rebirth, I Accept The Arranged Marriage-Chapter 54: Kissing the Palm
When Victor Morgan volunteered to stay in a guest room, Seth Sterling and Faye Fuller were even more pleased with him.
The young man was so sensible, and Faye Fuller wasn’t the kind of parent to stand in the way of a happy couple. And so, the task of showing Victor Morgan to his room fell to Jessie Sterling.
The main building itself didn’t have guest rooms; the Sterling sisters each occupied a floor, and Mr. and Mrs. Sterling had another, so there were no spare rooms. However, the guest house, connected to the back of the main building, had plenty.
As they walked along the covered corridor, Jessie Sterling described the layout of her family’s home to Victor Morgan.
Even though it was nighttime, the entire Sterling estate was brightly lit. Even the garden below was so well-illuminated that there was nothing spooky about the darkness.
In truth, Victor Morgan wasn’t particularly interested in the Sterlings’ home layout, but he loved the way Jessie Sterling chattered away at his side. He pretended to be listening intently.
"Are there any security cameras here?" Victor Morgan asked.
Jessie Sterling didn’t know why he would ask such a question, but she answered seriously, pointing to the archway at the end of the corridor. "There are no cameras over here, but there’s one at the entrance."
The words had barely left her mouth when she suddenly felt an arm tighten around her waist, and Victor Morgan pulled her into his embrace.
"What are you doing!" Jessie Sterling asked, a little nervous.
Even if there weren’t any cameras here, it was practically out in the open.
If her parents or Quincy Sterling were to walk over to a window upstairs, they would be able to see exactly what she and Victor Morgan were doing in a single glance.
Besides, security guards were patrolling the garden below. If one of them happened to look up, where would she hide her face?
Victor Morgan let out a low chuckle, then pressed a firm kiss right on the red lips before him, making a SMOOCH sound. "Just a little kiss," Victor Morgan said with a smile.
Jessie Sterling was nowhere near as calm as Victor Morgan. Her eyes went wide. "You—you, you..."
Before she could finish, Jessie felt another hard kiss on her lips. This time, Victor Morgan didn’t seem content with just a simple peck. He couldn’t resist nibbling her lower lip, licking it gently, then holding, biting, and sucking, stopping just short of making a sound.
Jessie Sterling had no idea how she managed to get Victor Morgan to the guest room. Aside from Victor, there were no other guests in the house that night.
And in the entire guest house, there was no one else besides her and Victor Morgan.
Once inside the room, Victor Morgan seemed to become even bolder than he had been outside. He caressed her ears until they were red and hot, but compared to her ears, her lips clearly looked more pitiful.
They were pouty and red, and even a little swollen, as if they’d been bullied. They looked utterly pitiful.
"Aren’t you... afraid my parents will find out?" Jessie Sterling finally managed to catch her breath in Victor Morgan’s arms, her face flushed as she shot the man before her a reproachful look.
’She had no idea that a single glance from her could stir the desires of the man before her.’
Victor Morgan quietly took a deep breath, calming the turmoil stirring within him.
"Hm?" Victor Morgan looked down. "We’re legal."
Jessie Sterling: "..."
"It’s not like we’re high school sweethearts sneaking around. Mom and Dad won’t say anything," Victor Morgan said.
Jessie Sterling’s face flushed red again. "Who are you calling ’Mom and Dad’?!"
’They weren’t even married yet, and her parents hadn’t even accepted his tea in a formal ceremony. How could he just start calling them that?’
’Does he have no shame?’
Victor Morgan chuckled. "Well, aren’t they?"
His simple retort left Jessie Sterling speechless. ’Could she really say they weren’t?’
Unable to refute him but not wanting to see him look so smug, Jessie Sterling reached out and covered Victor Morgan’s mouth with her hand. "Anyway, you’re not allowed to call them that right now!"
Victor Morgan’s gaze fell to Jessie Sterling’s wrist. Then, he suddenly reached out and grabbed it.
Jessie Sterling instinctively tried to pull free from his grasp, but Victor Morgan was a step ahead of her.
Before Jessie could pull away, she felt something soft press against her palm.
A second later, Jessie Sterling abruptly realized that Victor Morgan was kissing her palm.
Jessie Sterling fled.
Victor Morgan remained seated, watching her retreating figure disappear from view. A smile played on his lips.
’If he hadn’t been willing to let her go, how could she have possibly escaped?’
Although she was annoyed with him, Jessie Sterling still planned to wake up bright and early the next day to see Victor Morgan off.
But while the plan was perfect, reality was... well, reality.
When she woke up and saw the time, Jessie Sterling froze in her bed.
Perhaps because she was back in a familiar environment, she had slept for a full fourteen hours.
By the time she opened her eyes, it was already noon.
"Didn’t you tell Young Morgan yesterday that you would wake up early to see him off?"
When Jessie Sterling came downstairs, only Mrs. Sterling was home.
On the rare occasion that she cooked, Mrs. Sterling saw Jessie approaching, ladled a bowl of sweet pear soup from a clay pot, and handed it to her.
Jessie was still kicking herself. "Yeah, but I didn’t hear my alarm when it went off..."
"I knew it." Mrs. Sterling gently poked Jessie Sterling’s forehead. "That Young Morgan was up at five to have breakfast with your father. Your dad offered to have someone wake you, but Young Morgan told him not to and to let you rest. Honestly, if you knew you couldn’t get up, why did you make him a promise yesterday?"
Jessie whimpered, resting her chin on the back of her hands on the dining table. Like a soaked puppy, she blinked her big, bright, dark eyes, looking utterly pitiful.
"I didn’t think I would oversleep either," Jessie said.
Mrs. Sterling: "Trying to act cute with me won’t work. Call Young Morgan later and explain, you hear?"
"Okay."
"Eat your sweet pear soup first. It’s good for the lungs during the autumn, so it’s good for you," Mrs. Sterling added.
"Okay."
It was just the two of them, mother and daughter, for lunch, so they simply had the housekeeper make some soup.
Mrs. Sterling had a mahjong party with her friends that afternoon, so she left not long after they finished eating.
Jessie Sterling returned to the third floor. She sent Victor Morgan a message first, asking if he was busy.
Victor Morgan didn’t reply immediately. He was probably still busy.
Although Victor Morgan had finished a lot of work ahead of time before their wedding photoshoot and had handled plenty of business online during their trip, as the man at the helm of the massive ship that was the Morgan Group, he was so busy upon his return that he barely had time to drink water.
By the time he saw Jessie Sterling’s message, it was nearly the end of the workday.
Victor Morgan called her directly.
Jessie Sterling had spent the afternoon at her desk with her graphics tablet, drawing. She hadn’t even realized when she’d fallen asleep on the desk. When her phone rang, Jessie barely glanced at the caller ID on the screen before answering.
"Hello?"
Still not fully awake, her voice was thick with grogginess.
