Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Cannot Hold Back

Judging by his behavior in the car, Jessie Sterling thought Victor Morgan was anything but well-behaved.

Victor Morgan: "..."

In the end, under Jessie Sterling’s steady gaze, he finally nodded.

A blast of warm air washed over them the moment they stepped into the room.

It was a stark contrast to the biting cold outside.

Jessie Sterling took off her down jacket as soon as she was inside and hung it in the entryway.

From the outside, the treehouse looked something like a shipping container, but inside, it had a living room, a dining room, and a bedroom.

But there was only one large bed.

Jessie Sterling paid Victor Morgan no mind. The first thing she wanted to do was take a shower.

When she came out, Jessie discovered Victor Morgan sitting in the living room with his laptop open, apparently still dealing with work.

She cleared her throat. "I’m done."

Victor Morgan looked up. He hadn’t needed Jessie to announce it; he already knew.

The moment the bathroom door had opened, a sweet fragrance had wafted out, instantly filling the entire room.

He had long since become intimately familiar with Jessie’s scent.

"Okay." Victor Morgan forced himself to look away.

Jessie had come out wearing only a bathrobe, revealing the pale, smooth skin of her neck and calves. He was afraid that if he stared for even a second longer, he would lose control.

All in all, Victor Morgan hadn’t touched Jessie since New Year’s Day.

He had been forced into abstinence for nearly half a month.

’It’s not like he was impotent. His fragrant, soft-skinned wife was standing right in front of him. He wouldn’t be a normal man if he didn’t have any reaction.’

Victor Morgan went into the bathroom to take a shower.

Hearing the sound of running water from behind the closed bathroom door, Jessie didn’t give it much thought and picked up her phone.

That traitor, Lynn Jennings, had sent her a flood of messages after abandoning her at the bar.

Jessie decided to deal with the traitor first. ’Time to clean house!’

Victor Morgan hadn’t expected to have such a strong reaction to Jessie’s scent. While sitting outside earlier, he had been able to maintain some semblance of control.

But once he stepped into the bathroom, the scent that was uniquely Jessie’s became even more potent.

The long-neglected part of him reacted immediately.

For the past half a month, when he hadn’t been seeing Jessie, his body hadn’t felt such an intense urge.

But whenever he was near Jessie, the desire in his body would awaken as if on its own. No matter how hard he tried to control and hide it, it was always a losing battle.

Victor Morgan was in the bathroom for a rather long time, but Jessie didn’t find it strange. After all, she herself could easily spend a couple of hours in the bathroom, so she didn’t pay any mind to the time Victor was taking.

She was currently in a group chat with Quincy Sterling and Lynn Jennings, excitedly recounting how she had "handled" a guy like Victor Morgan tonight. Of course, she didn’t breathe a single word about their passionate kiss in the car.

Lynn Jennings was still in the group chat, so apparently, Jessie’s plan to "clean house" tonight had failed.

Victor was still in the bathroom. Smelling Jessie’s scent without being able to see her made it impossible to relieve his desire.

He almost never did this sort of thing. Even with his body’s most instinctual morning reaction, he could just ignore it and wait for it to subside on its own.

But tonight, everything felt like it was spiraling out of control.

Victor Morgan turned the water temperature down to thirty degrees. For a shower, it was practically cold water, especially with the sub-zero temperatures outside.

But to him, the temperature felt just right.

It could keep the scorching fire in his body penned in a corner, preventing it from erupting and burning everything around him to cinders.

When he saw the clothes Jessie had changed out of in the laundry hamper, Victor’s gaze tightened.

The bathroom had originally been filled with a sweet, fruity fragrance, but by the time Victor left, another, different scent seemed to have mingled with it.

When Jessie sensed Victor standing in front of her, she casually glanced up. "You’re done showering?" she remarked offhandedly. "You were pretty slow today."

Jessie had said it casually, but hearing her words, Victor felt a pang of guilt.

"I washed the clothes you left in there," Victor said.

It took Jessie a moment to react before she remembered what clothes she had left in there.

Jessie: "..."

This wasn’t the first time Victor had done something like this, but at the thought of her underwear being scrubbed by his large hands, Jessie couldn’t stop her face from slowly heating up.

"Wh-who asked you to wash them..." she mumbled, lowering her head.

Victor: "I just did it while I was at it."

Jessie didn’t want to discuss the laundry situation any further. She quickly pointed to the sofa nearby. "You’re sleeping over there tonight."

Victor pursed his lips, glancing at the king-sized bed just a few feet away, then at the narrow sofa Jessie was pointing to. He had a sinking feeling about the night ahead.

’His wife was right there, yet he couldn’t even hold her while he slept.’

But Jessie showed no intention of negotiating. Victor sighed internally. Ever obedient, he walked over to the sofa.

It was a two-seater sofa, but it was far from spacious. For a tall man like Victor, who stood over six feet, there was no way to fully stretch out his legs. He could only curl them up pitifully.

Jessie watched Victor lie down on the sofa. He looked like a big, sad dog caught in the rain. He looked so pitiful, but the way he kept his complaints to himself made Jessie stifle a laugh.

She didn’t dare laugh at Victor openly, of course, but she was an expert at causing trouble on the sly.

When it came to enjoying Victor’s predicament, Jessie couldn’t care less about not airing their dirty laundry in public. In fact, she wished she could send a photo of him curled up pathetically on the sofa to everyone she knew.

Jessie remembered to mute her phone’s shutter sound for the surreptitious photo, but she’d forgotten that she had turned the flash on earlier while taking pictures with Lynn at the bar.

So—

The moment the flash went off, it was clear this was no stealth photo op. It was a full-blown photoshoot!

Jessie: "..."

To make matters worse, the camera had taken a Live Photo, perfectly capturing the exact moment Victor felt the blinding flash and shot a look in Jessie’s direction.

Silence.

Jessie was silent.

And Victor, after a moment of silence, finally spoke up when he realized Jessie had no intention of offering an explanation.

"What are you doing?"

Jessie was about to offer a snappy comeback, but Victor didn’t give her the chance.

The man had already gotten up from the sofa. "Taking a secret picture of me?" he asked.

Jessie: "Who’s taking a secret picture of you!"

’I even had the flash on. This was an open and honest photoshoot, okay?!’

’Though the flash had admittedly been an accident.’

But now, Victor was already striding toward her.

It was obvious Victor didn’t believe her. He was coming to inspect the "evidence" for himself.
