After my divorce, I started to have good luck-Chapter 952 - 507: Scheming to the Utmost (Part 2)
Chen Feng received the photos and voice messages she sent and felt a bit surprised. Because all the previous signs suggested that Zhang Jingwen was ninety-nine percent likely to try to welch.
However, he didn't bother guessing whether she really intended to fulfill the agreement; he decided to just wait. And so, Chen Feng sent her an 'ok' gesture.
He was still at No. 8 Villa and didn't hurry to East Lake Garden to wait for Zhang Jingwen.
The last time he rushed over there to wait for her, he ended up waiting in vain.
He wouldn't make the same mistake twice. So this time, he wouldn't go over until he was one hundred percent sure she had arrived at East Lake Garden.
Besides, last time he waited for her, this time letting her wait for him seemed reasonable. Furthermore, it only took about ten minutes to drive from Red Villa Bay to there.
He's not the kind of person who's extremely impatient, he could afford to delay these ten minutes.
Thus, the ten-minute or so period passed.
Zhang Jingwen drove her Mercedes CLA, one of her several cars, the cheapest and most low-profile. She generally drove it for private outings, just like last night when she drove it home alone, and today when she drove it to East Lake Garden alone.
It was just past eleven in the morning, coinciding with the lunchtime rush hour, with a few sections of the road severely congested.
If she had a choice, Zhang Jingwen really didn't want to worsen the city's traffic congestion, nor did she want to cause trouble to innocent people. She still had some conscience.
But she really had no choice; for now, her mind could only come up with this method to temporarily extricate herself.
Then, when the red light at another intersection ended and the green light came on, she drove her vehicle through the intersection, continued forward for a while, and just as a Toyota ahead suddenly decelerated and stopped, she slightly pressed the accelerator.
Unsurprisingly, the two cars collided suddenly; her Mercedes CLA rear-ended the Toyota in front.
Then, both cars stopped simultaneously, quite in sync.
"What the hell is your problem?"
The driver of the Toyota ahead was a middle-aged man with a shaved head and a fierce face, who poked his head out of the window to curse and shout angrily towards her.
Zhang Jingwen quickly put on the large sunglasses and baseball cap she had prepared earlier, locked the car doors, and dialed the police.
Sure enough, the bald driver soon came down from the car angrily, walked to the front of the car, and pointed at her, cursing loudly.
Upon discovering she was a female driver, he was even more enraged, slamming his hand hard on her car's hood.
Fortunately, the traffic police arrived quickly, and the bald driver finally calmed down and stopped behaving as though he might smash her car window.
Then, of course, following standard procedure, the police knocked on her door, she presented her documents, and both cars pulled over to the roadside without obstructing traffic. Needless to say, the rear-end collision was entirely her fault, so she contacted the insurance company for compensation.
With the police's mediation, and given that Zhang Jingwen was a big beautiful woman who graciously apologized to the foul-mouthed bald driver with a pleasant voice, sincere attitude, and even proactively offered to compensate him for his lost wages, the bald man finally calmed down.
Since she wore sunglasses and a cap throughout, she wasn't recognized.
Zhang Jingwen then took advantage of the time waiting for the insurance company representative to arrive, snapped a few photos of the car collision, and sent them to Chen Feng, along with a text: [So unlucky, got in a car crash, all my fault, and twisted my ankle.]
Chen Feng initially thought she was saying she had already reached East Lake Garden, but instead, it turned out to be this.
He wasn't stupid; it wasn't just about whether she truly got into a car accident. Even if she did, the timing, coinciding with her going to meet him, was just too suspicious.
So, Chen Feng coldly typed back: [I'll give you an extension of one hour, be there by 1 PM. Don't try to pull any tricks unless you've been severely injured and taken to the hospital for emergency care. Otherwise, you must be there by 1 PM, or else bear the consequences.]
Upon seeing Chen Feng's message, Zhang Jingwen was so mad she almost smashed her phone.
After getting into a car accident and getting injured, he still expected her to go over; was he even human?
After some time, she managed to calm down, took a selfie using the two collided cars as a background, and sent it over, pretending to be pitiful, along with a text: [Boss, I really got into an accident. I mistook the accelerator for the brake and rear-ended, twisted my right foot, and the other driver was so aggressive; he nearly hit me. I really have no intention today. Could you just wait for me to recover? Please?]
Accompanied by a crying emoji, the message indeed seemed tragic and reasonable.
However, Chen Feng didn't buy it. The more he felt that she was trying to play mind games with him, this rear-end incident seemed more like a deliberate setup by her.
So, Chen Feng simply stopped bothering with her. If she didn't intend to fulfill the agreement today, he planned to put her on ice.
No one likes those who don't keep their word, and they certainly deserve a penalty.
And as Zhang Jingwen saw that Chen Feng still hadn't responded, she was again infuriated.
After dealing with the insurance procedures and having her car towed away, half an hour passed. Chen Feng still didn't respond.
After much inner conflict, she eventually took a taxi to East Lake Garden.
When she entered her East Lake Garden house, she didn't contact Chen Feng, and it was already past twelve thirty.
As time ticked by, finally reaching 1 PM, she suddenly felt tense and somewhat anxious, anticipating Chen Feng would call or angrily send her a message.
But as one minute passed, then two, then five, Chen Feng had made no contact at all.
By one-thirty, Chen Feng still hadn't reached out—no call, no WeChat message.
Amid her confusion, Zhang Jingwen finally let out a big sigh of relief.
If Chen Feng had called or messaged after 1 PM, she probably would have resignedly gone next door to deliver herself for a scolding.
But since Chen Feng didn't, she clung to a faint hope and didn't contact him proactively.
At least she honestly got into a car accident today; regarding the twisted ankle being fake, given her fabrication, she could legitimately skip the appointment.
Maybe, she thought, Chen Feng had something come up and forgot about her. She sought comfort in her self-assurance.
Indeed, it was almost true. At that time, Chen Feng had already met Lin Yujiao, and over at Lakefront Villa, experiencing the long-lost thrill, he naturally had cast her out of his mind.
