After my divorce, I started to have good luck-Chapter 859 - 461: Warmth in the Heart
The guy with a mouth full of blood tried to stand up, but Chen Feng went up and stomped him down again. This time the man finally calmed down, played dead, and pretended to be unconscious.
"Should we call the police?"
Chen Feng looked at Tian Xiaoman, who was already in shock, and asked with a calm expression.
Before Tian Xiaoman could speak, the two men on the ground, who had regained their senses, immediately shouted in fear, "No! Don't call the police! We were wrong! We're sorry!"
"We didn't mean it; we just got drunk earlier. Please have mercy, we got beaten up too, and we consider it our bad luck."
The two pleaded continuously.
Such actions as following a single woman late at night and attempting harassment, even if not carried out, would certainly lead to detention. It would be a disgraceful event for those with families and children.
"Let's... let's forget it."
Tian Xiaoman hesitated for a moment but ultimately gave up on calling the police, mainly to avoid trouble. Besides, although these two had verbally harassed her, it wasn't exactly vulgar. Even though they tried to catch up with her, it couldn't be said they would have committed a crime, and they couldn't be severely punished at the police station.
Seeing her reluctance to report to the police, Chen Feng would naturally not become overwhelmed with a sense of justice and drag the two to the police station.
However, since Chen Feng and Tian Xiaoman knew each other to some extent, and he had just played hero rescuing the damsel, he decided to be thorough in his heroism.
"Take out your ID cards."
Chen Feng, commanding from above, looked down icily at the two.
The two drunkards, probably around thirty-five or thirty-six years old, had small beer bellies, one with a shaved head and the other with a crew cut, and they were both about 1.7 meters tall.
The guy sitting on the ground wiping the blood from his mouth straightforwardly said, "I didn't bring it."
The other, wiping a bloody nose, quickly followed up, "I didn't bring it either."
Chen Feng was too lazy to waste words with them. He stepped forward and pressed down on one, reaching into their pockets.
The two initially tried to resist, but Chen Feng's strength was overwhelming; a little pressure made them cry out in pain, and they dared not move anymore, letting Chen Feng do as he pleased.
It was summer, and both wore T-shirts on top and one wore jeans, while the other wore casual pants — both with pockets. They both carried wallets with their ID cards inside.
Chen Feng took out their IDs, photographed them with his phone, and then tossed the wallets and IDs back to the two on the ground.
"I've stored your ID cards. If I catch you harassing my friends again, I'll find someone to deal with you immediately. This is your only chance. Now, scram!"
The two guys knew they were no match for Chen Feng. After hearing his harsh words, they didn't dare to say anything tough and quickly picked up their wallets and ID cards, lowering their heads and hurrying away.
"Alright. Let me escort you home. Don't refuse this time; fortunately, I was cautious earlier, otherwise you would have been in trouble tonight."
Chen Feng stepped forward and said to Tian Xiaoman.
"Alright. Thank you," Tian Xiaoman replied, looking at Chen Feng with mixed emotions. She had initially decided to give up on Chen Feng, at most considering him a friend who might always be out of her reach.
However, after what had just happened, where Chen Feng played the hero, a scene straight out of movies and novels unfolded. And she was confident that Chen Feng hadn't prearranged this incident.
After all, she had only met Chen Feng that afternoon, and he didn't even know where she lived.
When she was frightened, anxious, and helpless, Chen Feng appeared to save her. How could she not be moved or grateful, even considering giving herself to him? She had intentions and a good impression of Chen Feng from the start.
"Let's go."
Chen Feng urged. He was thinking of getting home to sleep as it was already midnight.
"Oh, okay." Tian Xiaoman finally snapped out of her trance and turned to head back home.
After walking another 50 or 60 meters, they arrived at an old residential area without a proper gate or a gatekeeper, just open as it was.
"My house is there, in this neighborhood. You don't have to walk me any further. Thank you so much for tonight."
Chen Feng looked into the neighborhood, which was pitch black. Though there were streetlights, they were too dim to light up the path properly.
"Well, since I've come this far, a few more steps won't hurt. I'll walk you to your door; otherwise, I wouldn't be at ease."
"Okay then, thank you."
Tian Xiaoman couldn't refuse Chen Feng's kindness any longer and continued leading the way, head bowed.
In her heart, she quite enjoyed the feeling of being escorted all the way home, but she couldn't help feeling a little self-conscious about living in such a rundown neighborhood.
That was one of the reasons she didn't want Chen Feng to walk her home earlier.
The neighborhood had six buildings, each with three units, not exactly small.
Tian Xiaoman's home was in one of the units, and when they reached the base, Tian Xiaoman stopped and said again, "My home is on the third floor of this unit, you don't have to go up. It's too late to invite you in for a visit. I'll treat you to a meal some other time."
"Okay, then go on up. I won't walk you any further."
"Then... then goodbye. Goodnight."
"Mm, goodnight."
Tian Xiaoman looked back one last time with some reluctance before turning to go upstairs.
Chen Feng didn't leave immediately but continued to stand at the unit's entrance, listening to the clacking sound of Tian Xiaoman's high-heeled sandals as she climbed the stairs.
