After my divorce, I started to have good luck-Chapter 1063 - 562: Hyacinth (Part 2)
Not long after hanging up the phone, Yu Xiaohui sent the address to him, indicating it was best to come over before eleven o'clock.
It's almost ten o'clock now, there's still an hour to prepare, and the restaurant is not far, so there's no need to rush.
After browsing on his phone for a while, Chen Feng changed into relatively formal casual attire. Before driving out, he left a message for Sun and Wu, stating he wouldn't be home for lunch.
There was a flower shop not far from the Red Villa Bay District. With the recommendation of the shop owner, he bought a bouquet of hyacinths.
A few minutes before eleven o'clock, Chen Feng arrived at the appointed restaurant, a rather high-end western restaurant with reserved parking spaces for guests at the entrance.
Chen Feng parked the car, carried the flowers, and walked into the restaurant, asking the hostess at the entrance before heading towards the private room inside.
While passing through the lobby, he felt something, raised his eyes to look to one side, and saw Shen Lin sitting at a table by the window.
Clearly, Shen Lin had seen Chen Feng first and was staring at him, which he noticed.
Although Chen Feng felt surprised, he showed no sign of astonishment on his face, quickly withdrawing his gaze and continuing towards the private room without slowing his steps.
Shen Lin was not alone; opposite her sat a handsome and mature man in his thirties.
This man's name was Luo Qingchao, a vice president at a listed company with overseas experience, a highly educated individual.
He was introduced by a relative of Shen Lin's family. Under pressure from her parents three days ago, she met this man, had a meal, chatted for half an hour, and then Luo Qingchao began to pursue her round the clock.
For two days in a row, he sent her messages every morning, noon, and night, asked her out continuously, and under pressure and persuasion from her parents and relatives, she had to accept the second date with him, set at this western restaurant.
After she had just sat down, ordered, through the floor-to-ceiling window she saw her ex-husband Chen Feng getting out of a Cayenne in the parking lot outside, especially with that beautiful bouquet in his hand.
She didn't know what those flowers were, but they were blue and very pretty, making her instantly think that Chen Feng must be giving them to some beautiful woman.
This thought dampened her previously fairly good mood.
Her eyes couldn't help but keep staring at the bouquet in Chen Feng's hand; only when he pretended not to recognize her and quickly left did she withdraw her gaze.
"Do you like flowers?"
Luo Qingchao certainly noticed Shen Lin's gaze earlier, and also saw Chen Feng and the flowers in his hand. He thought Shen Lin liked flowers too and asked with a gentle, magnetic voice.
"They're okay." Shen Lin casually replied, then feigned curiosity, asking, "What were the flowers in that person's hand just now? They looked pretty."
Luo Qingchao laughed, promptly answering, "Those are hyacinths, indeed quite pretty. Its language of flowers means to ignite the fire of life and enjoy a plentiful life. The implication is quite good."
"If such flowers are given to the opposite sex, what does it mean?" Shen Lin asked further.
Luo Qingchao patiently explained, "Abroad, especially in Gentleman Country, this type of blue hyacinth is often the bride's bouquet or decoration at weddings, representing the purity of the newlyweds, hoping to bring happiness. So, if given to the opposite sex, it can be said to express admiration and appreciation, and might also represent affection.
But domestically, they are usually given to friends, such as for birthdays, to encourage friends to bravely pursue their dreams, making their lives richer, and full of passion and hope."
Listening to his explanation, Shen Lin inexplicably felt much more comfortable and smiled slightly, saying, "You sure know a lot."
Luo Qingchao smiled slightly and said, "Hyacinths are a very common type of flower in Europe and America, and among friends there, giving flowers is very popular, knowing some flower language is essential, otherwise, it can be awkward if given incorrectly. For example, I had a Dutch male classmate at Cornell, one birthday he received from an Asian female classmate tulips.
The female classmate thought he was Dutch, the national flower is tulips, so she gave tulips, but the tulip's flower language means a confession of love, especially if given as a birthday present, it's akin to confessing. As you can imagine, my Dutch male classmate already had some affection for this Asian female classmate, and upon receiving the tulip, he immediately expressed his affection back. Guess what happened then?"
It must be said, Luo Qingchao's chatting skills were quite high; even if Shen Lin didn't have much goodwill towards him, at this moment her curiosity was piqued, and she casually asked, "Did they end up together then?"
Luo Qingchao shook his head and shrugged, saying, "They didn't, the Asian female classmate was so frightened she ran away. After they understood the misunderstanding between them, they both felt very awkward and were teased by many classmates. Later, that Dutch male classmate found another Asian female student as a girlfriend."
Hearing this, Shen Lin suddenly got a bit angry and said, "Men are really all the same, no good."
Luo Qingchao wasn't embarrassed either, smiling as he said, "Young people in Europe and America date like drinking cola; it's a necessity. In this respect, young people in our country are somewhat conservative by comparison."
"What about you? I remember last time you said you had dated three times, in high school, university, and while studying abroad, but haven't dated since returning, is that true?" Shen Lin looked at him with a teasing and skeptical gaze.
The biggest reason Shen Lin didn't have goodwill towards him was that she felt he wasn't honest enough. He was already thirty-four, had four years of study abroad experience, spoke with such chatty skills, was very gregarious yet claimed only three relationships—how is that possible? Especially having worked five or six years since returning, how could he not have dated anyone?
Luo Qingchao also realized this doubt about him and could only smile bitterly and say, "Alright, I admit last time when we met I somewhat embellished and concealed my romantic history, but absolutely not intentionally. After all, whether I say I had three loves or five or six, there's not much difference, don't you agree? There's really no need to deliberately hide anything.
What I said, about three relationships, are those relatively formal and lasted longer. In high school, I dated for three years, fellow students in grades 11 and 12, and then separated by different colleges, we persisted with a long-distance relationship for a year. In university, it started from sophomore year until senior year, another three years. Later, I went abroad, she also went abroad but to a different country; she was the one who suggested breaking up first.
Afterwards, I dated a Chinese student until I returned home, but she didn't want to return with me, and I didn't want to continue staying in Beautiful Country. These three relationships, I truly didn't lie. After returning, for those first three years, I was buried in work, practically 24/7, where was the time or energy to date? Later on, when work finally got a bit less hectic, then I had the time and energy to consider my romantic life.
But unfortunately, intermittently dated three times, the longest lasting two to three months, followed by lengthy empty periods, and once getting together with another it didn't meet expectations. The main problem lay with me, as I couldn't truly fall for them. Until, I met you."
Facing Luo Qingchao's intently passionate gaze, Shen Lin was unmoved, with a slight sneer and said, "We've barely met once, and I've been divorced, how would you think you love me? Truthfully, you know hardly anything about me right now."
Luo Qingchao lifted his left hand lightly touching his chin, the Patek Philippe on his wrist swayed slightly, smiling as he looked at Shen Lin, saying, "Actually, I know more about you than you think. These past two days, I've been asking around about you, including your previous unfortunate marriage..."
"Stop." Shen Lin frowned, interrupting him, "You clearly don't understand me; my previous marriage wasn't unfortunate. My ex-husband and I fell in love freely, and we loved each other deeply at the start; even when we divorced, it wasn't due to any issues with feelings or infidelity, but because we had a misunderstanding."
