After Having a Dream, I Became Pregnant with a Billionaire's Child-Chapter 71 - Hurting Others Ultimately Hurts Yourself
71: Chapter 71: Hurting Others Ultimately Hurts Yourself
71 -71: Hurting Others Ultimately Hurts Yourself
On the stage, Emily Parker walked to the forefront.
Her face was lightly made up, and her hair was styled up high with a few strands elegantly framing her smooth, full forehead.
She nodded towards the judges below and began a brief self-introduction.
As Emily stepped onto the stage, Sophie Parker and Rainny White were standing behind the stage.
Seeing Emily looking even more ethereal and detached after makeup, a tinge of jealousy flashed through Sophie’s eyes,
“Emily, let’s see how long you can remain complacent!”
Sophie thought to herself as she watched Emily, waiting for the drug powder on Emily’s clothes to take effect.
Sophie hadn’t originally intended to do so, but in her dream, she had put the drug powder on Rainny’s clothes.
Upon contact with the powder, within ten minutes, Rainny’s skin began to itch; she continually scratched her face, and then her entire face, hands, and legs turned painfully red and swollen, much like a monkey’s bottom.
In the dream, Rainny had to give up the semifinals and leave the stage in tears.
This time, Emily would be no exception.
One minute, two minutes… Sophie was silently counting down, waiting for Emily to react.
Rainny White stood by Sophie’s side, unable to see, but she could hear.
She was curious about what Emily’s talent was.
Previously, Rainny’s piano performance was very good, earning high scores from the judges.
Rainny secretly hoped for an unexpected turn in Emily’s talent performance.
In the judges’ seats, Evan Palmer looked at Emily with a critical eye.
It must be said that after dressing up, Emily was indeed a pleasure to view.
However, she was married to Carlos from the Carter Family, and just being pretty was not enough.
Other contestants came up, some with violins, some with piano performances, and others skilled in dancing and singing, but Emily brought no instrument.
She didn’t seem like she would sing or dance either.
Fortunately, she and Carlos were secretly married and hadn’t announced their marriage publicly yet; otherwise, a daughter-in-law who knew nothing but had a pretty face would surely be the laughing stock of Capital’s high society.
“Why hasn’t there been any reaction?”
Sophie had waited for quite a while; Emily had finished her self-introduction and started her talent performance.
Yet on the stage, Emily’s face, smoother than a peeled egg, remained snow-white without a hint of an allergic reaction.
At that moment, Emily pulled out a harmonica from her pocket.
Evan Palmer frowned.
Was Emily really going to play the harmonica at such a formal event?
The melodious sound of the harmonica reached every judge’s ears, and she played the same piece as Rainny.
“It turns out the ‘Moonlight Serenade’ can even be played on a harmonica.”
“It sounds strangely good, I’m hearing it for the first time too.”
Beside Evan Palmer, the other judges started whispering to each other.
Although it was the same piece, Emily selected a different instrument, which brought out a unique charm in its performance.
At the end of the piece, apart from Evan Palmer, all the other judges actually gave high scores.
Emily gracefully bowed to the judges, and just as she was about to leave the stage,
In the judges’ seats, Third Master Manor rushed in front of Emily, holding a large bouquet of roses.
“Miss Parker, your performance was wonderful, this is the first time I’ve heard someone play ‘Moonlight Serenade’ so beautifully.”
Third Master Manor looked at Emily with adoration.
Just now, he had taken several videos of Emily’s performance and shared them in a small group.
Carlos even said his goddess was ugly!
He wanted to show Carlos what a beauty is truly like.
Emily Parker saw Third Master Manor and couldn’t help but recall that night on the mountain when Carlos left her alone, blowing in the cold wind all night.
She chuckled softly and accepted the flowers from Third Master Manor.
That smile froze Third Master Manor in his tracks.
In the audience, Adam Willow’s gaze never left Emily.
It was the first time he saw Emily like this.
The first time heard her play the harmonica, the first time he saw her dressed up so meticulously, his heart was pounding fiercely.
Yet, when he saw Third Master Manor handing her flowers, a surge of anger rose in his heart, and at the same time, he felt a bit regretful.
He should have bought a bouquet of flowers too.
Backstage, Sophie Parker’s face was ashen with rage.
She hurried back to her spot, took out her bag, and retrieved a medicine bottle from inside.
“What’s going on?
Why isn’t this medicine working?
Did I buy fake medicine?
No way, this is the medicine I specifically asked Doctor Bennet to get for me.”
Sophie Parker opened the medicine bottle, about to carefully inspect the powder inside.
Just as Sophie was about to take a closer look at the medicine, suddenly someone patted her shoulder.
Caught like a thief, Sophie’s hand trembled, and the remaining powder in the bottle spilled all over her clothes and herself.
“Sophie Parker, what are you doing?
It’s your turn to go on stage.”
Standing behind her was Emily, who had just come off stage.
“Mind your own business.”
Sophie quickly tossed the medicine bottle into a nearby trash bin, patting off the powder on her body.
Emily didn’t have an allergic reaction, indicating the allergy medicine was fake, so Sophie didn’t take it too seriously.
She hurried onto the stage, carrying her violin for her performance.
Emily glanced at the trash bin containing the medicine bottle.
She walked over to the bin, picked up the medicine bottle, and examined the powder inside.
“Strong allergy medicine.”
A cold smile appeared on Emily’s lips.
She had felt something was off when she was called away.
She had heard all the conversation between Sophie Parker and Rainny White.
Emily didn’t intervene at that moment because her constitution was quite special; as a child, her mother had bathed her with a specially made medicinal solution.
Since then, her body had developed an anti-allergy reaction to various toxins and drugs.
This secret, apart from herself, was only known by her deceased mother.
The allergy medicine had no effect on Emily, but for Sophie…
Sophie, unaware of all this, took her violin onto the stage.
She immediately saw Adam Willow in the audience and her future father-in-law, Evan Palmer, sitting at the central seat of the jury panel.
Sophie sweetly smiled at both of them, then took out her violin.
Having just seen Emily daring to play the harmonica on stage, Sophie thought Emily was just a country bumpkin.
Full of confidence, Sophie picked up her violin, which she had been playing for over a decade and played quite well.
She positioned herself, ready to perform impressively in front of Evan Palmer and Adam Willow.
But suddenly, she felt an itch on the back of her hand.
Emily casually scratched it and then began playing the violin.
She had just started the opening when Sophie’s hand trembled, and the violin made a harsh, squeaky noise.
Sophie looked down and to her horror, a large patch of red bumps had suddenly appeared on her hand.
