After Having a Dream, I Became Pregnant with a Billionaire's Child-Chapter 262 - 257: It’s So Bad That No One Can Stand It
Chapter 262: Chapter 257: It’s So Bad That No One Can Stand It
During the brief conversation between Emily Parker and Carlos, Rainny White, who had been waiting outside the door, suddenly walked in with unsteady steps.
Her face was unusually pale, and her lips were devoid of any color. Her body swayed, and suddenly her eyes rolled back as she collapsed straight to the ground.
Carlos, upon seeing this, instantly turned pale. He swiftly rushed forward and caught Rainny White’s limp body, calling her name loudly.
When the sound of the approaching ambulance could be heard, Carlos frowned, showing a troubled expression. He looked at Emily Parker and said,
"Emily, Rainny has no family in the Capital. I have to take her to the hospital."
Rainny White had been at the police station yesterday, having not eaten or rested all night to bail Carlos out. Her body, overstrained, finally gave in and she fainted.
Upon hearing Carlos’s words, Emily Parker’s heart sank again.
She suppressed the bitterness in her heart and said coldly,
"There’s no need to explain your matters to me. After she wakes up, come back to the villa. I have some things to discuss with you."
The divorce agreement was still lying in the bedroom drawer. Emily had already signed it, and was just waiting for Carlos to sign it.
The slight warmth she felt due to Carlos’s concern disappeared completely when she saw the obvious anxiety on his face.
She was never a generous person, especially when it came to love, she was unwilling to share her beloved with anyone else.
After speaking, Emily Parker slightly tilted her head, nodded politely towards Cedric Shaw, as a greeting, and then quickly turned around and walked out swiftly.
Oliver Ross, seeing all of this, couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
He couldn’t help but speak up,
"Boss, the boss’s wife has been busy with meetings today; she didn’t even have lunch. She’s pregnant, you know, and the board meeting today was very intense."
He looked at Carlos with a hint of reproach in his eyes. Today at the company, the board members were giving the boss’s wife a hard time while the boss was with Rainny White, which made him uncomfortable.
This time, even he didn’t want to speak up for the boss anymore.
Carlos wanted to ask about the board meeting, but since he was at the police station, it wasn’t a good time to inquire.
He asked Oliver Ross to go back first and said they would communicate later by phone.
"Attorney Shaw, thank you very much for this time."
Carlos sensed Oliver Ross’s dissatisfaction and felt a bit guilty. He steadied himself, intending to thank Cedric Shaw, and extended his hand in friendliness.
However, his hand awkwardly hung in the air. Cedric Shaw looked at him with meaningful eyes, his lips lifting slightly in a half-smile, saying,
"Young Master Carter, you don’t need to thank me just yet. Maybe in a few days, you’ll be complaining to me."
With that, he finished the bail procedures and left directly.
Carlos took Rainny White to the hospital, and with the help of a nurse, she was soon settled on a hospital bed and given an IV drip.
After a while, Rainny White slowly opened her eyes, her slightly pale little face lowered, her eyes full of guilt, and she weakly said,
"Brother Carter, it’s all my fault this time.
If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t have gotten into a fight with Young Master Chu."
Saying this, her fingers anxiously twisted a corner of the bedsheet.
Carlos frowned slightly, looking at Rainny White with complex emotions.
Rainny White’s incident at the bar completely messed up his meticulously planned schedule.
According to the original plan, he only needed to anonymously report Young Master Chu, then find those illegal drugs in the other party’s car, and follow the clues to catch the mastermind behind Young Master Chu.
But Rainny White’s sudden situation forced him to change his strategy and face off with Young Master Chu head-on.
"Rainny, maybe you misunderstood. What happened that night— even if it wasn’t you, I would have stepped in to help."
Carlos patiently explained, a hint of helplessness flashing in his eyes.
He looked at Rainny White and thought of her pitiful background, swallowed back the blame that was on the tip of his tongue.
Rainny White bit her lip and nodded gently, tears shining in her eyes.
"Forget it, what’s done is done. Fortunately, Young Master Chu and his group have been punished."
The doctor said you’re a bit sleep-deprived, so you should rest in the hospital. I’ve already paid for the hospital stay and have asked your roommates to come take care of you.
From now on, I don’t want you going to places like bars."
Carlos stood up. All the way, his mind kept replaying Emily Parker’s indifferent expression, and she had said she had something to discuss with him.
