After Divorce: Why My Aloof Ex Starts Chasing Me?-Chapter 182: Painstaking Efforts
Chapter 182: Chapter 182: Painstaking Efforts
In the eyes of the people in the courtyard, Jiang Zhixun is a hero, worthy of everyone’s respect and care.
By lunchtime, Aunt Wang really brought some food to the hospital room.
"Your mom went out to buy some supplements and said you should eat in the cafeteria. I thought the cafeteria food wasn’t as tasty as home-cooked, so I brought you some meat buns."
Shen Qingqing thanked her for her kindness, "We’ve already eaten, Auntie. You can take these back home. There’s no place to heat food in the ward, and it’s inconvenient to keep them. I’ll visit your place for a meal next time."
Aunt Wang particularly liked Shen Qingqing.
She was good at studying and always came first in exams.
She was kind and had a good temperament, and she used to help the kids in the courtyard with their homework.
Now, she’s become a university teacher, knowledgeable and understanding, the perfect woman in Aunt Wang’s eyes.
She handed her a meat bun, "Have another bun. It’s still warm."
Shen Qingqing had already eaten in the cafeteria before returning to the ward and was quite full.
But Aunt Wang was so enthusiastic, she had no chance to refuse and could only accept it.
Aunt Wang looked at her with a loving expression, "Try it and see if it’s good. I made them with pork and vermicelli stuffing, without many spices, worrying that Zhixun shouldn’t have anything too strong."
Being watched by Aunt Wang, Shen Qingqing split the bun in half. It was filled with stuffing, the skin was thin and soft, and it looked delicious.
After taking a bite, it truly was.
"It’s very fragrant, much better than what’s sold in the cafeteria."
Shen Qingqing praised sincerely.
She had always liked pastries, and buns and dumplings were her favorites.
The buns that Aunt Wang brought not only had delicious skin but also had filling she loved.
If she hadn’t already had lunch, she could have eaten two by herself!
Shen Qingqing wanted to offer the other half to Jiang Zhixun but was stopped by Aunt Wang, "You eat it."
Then she took a complete one and handed it to Jiang Zhixun, "Whether you’re recovering or taking care of a patient, you need physical strength. Eat more to have the energy to face the coming challenges."
Jiang Zhixun responded with an "Mm," "I’m fine, you don’t need to worry."
Aunt Wang laughed, "You’re doing great; your mental strength is amazing. There’s nothing to say about that! As long as you maintain a good mindset, your body will recover fast too!"
If it were someone else, they might not be breaking down, but they would definitely be feeling down.
Stabilized emotions in a patient are a very good thing.
Aunt Wang sat by the hospital bed, watching the two of them eat buns.
She glanced at Shen Qingqing and then at Jiang Zhixun, thinking they were a perfect match.
Being reckless when young and ending up divorced was truly a pity.
Looking at them now, they seem much more mature.
She wanted to ask if they considered remarrying but feared the topic was too sensitive and would make everyone awkward.
Finally, Aunt Wang asked, "Did Yang Fen just visit? I saw her downstairs at the hospital."
Shen Qingqing nodded, "Yes, she came."
Aunt Wang clicked her tongue, "No wonder her eyes were red. If you didn’t know better, you’d think someone bullied her."
She thought to herself that this kid was led astray by her sister-in-law.
Before, although she was introverted and didn’t like to speak, she wouldn’t do annoying things.
Now, it’s like she’s digressing as she grows older.
Not exactly young anymore, yet her temper grows larger.
If she gets married, she definitely will face difficulties. After all, the husband’s family differs from her own, and no one will put up with her unconditionally.
Curiously asking, "She didn’t say anything, right?"
Since it involved Jiang Zhixun, Shen Qingqing didn’t know whether she should speak.
She laughed it off, "There was a little unpleasantness, but it’s okay now."
Aunt Wang’s expression became increasingly speechless, "Zhixun is a patient, yet she had the nerve to cause trouble. She really has no sense."
Besides, she’s about to get married and still comes around to entangle. If this reaches the ears of her husband’s family, she might get the marriage annulled!
Shen Qingqing didn’t want to bring up Yang Fen, nor did Jiang Zhixun.
That was just an outsider, no need to let her upset them.
Understanding their attitude, Aunt Wang tactfully refrained from mentioning Yang Fen again.
Just returning to the courtyard, she spread the word about Yang Fen’s movements.
"Qingqing is taking care of Zhixun, so why does she need her around? Not only does she gain nothing, but she also makes both Qingqing and Zhixun unhappy."
"It’s just because the Jiang Family is too easygoing that she pushes her luck. Four years ago, Yang Fen nearly ruined Jiang Zhixun’s future!"
"Being close to red becomes red, close to black becomes black. She’s led astray by Li Hongyan."
"No idea if her partner minds when this spreads?"
"..."
Yang’s mother went out and heard the rumors.
She rushed home in a huff and didn’t find anyone in the living room. By habit, she went to open Yang Fen’s room door, but it was locked from inside.
"Bang bang bang!"
The sound of knocking accompanied by Yang’s mother’s angry scolding: "What did I say? I told you not to mess with others, but you wouldn’t listen! Zhixun doesn’t fancy you; can’t you see that?"
These words turned into knives, piercing straight into Yang Fen’s heart.
"Whether he cares or not, I certainly don’t fancy him!"
Yang’s mother’s face darkened to the extreme, "Open the door!"
Yang Fen didn’t dare open it; if she did, it wouldn’t just be a few scoldings.
She grabbed the pillow and buried her head in it, blocking out the noise from outside.
Yang’s mother was so angry she could almost spill blood, and just then, Li Hongyan came back from outside and questioned her, "Did you egg Xiaofen on to do something stupid again?"
Li Hongyan’s face briefly revealed a guilty look.
She cursed her sister-in-law for being all talk and no action. Even with Jiang Zhixun in such a state, she couldn’t win him over!
"What are you saying? I don’t understand a word."
Yang’s mother wasn’t a fool; she could understand what Li Hongyan’s expression meant.
Her eyes were full of disappointment.
"Four years ago, you encouraged her to go to the Northwest. Now people have finally returned and seek a stable life, yet you stirred her up to bother Jiang Zhixun again. Are you really the kind of sister-in-law to do that? Anyone who didn’t know might think she’s your enemy, pushing her into the fire pit time and time again!"
"Mom, what are you saying? If I didn’t want her well-being, why would I encourage her to pursue Jiang Zhixun?"
Jiang Zhixun’s conditions are clear for all to see. It’s just Xiaofen lacks ambition; otherwise, she would have married into the Jiang Family and had a lifetime of good fortune.
Li Hongyan didn’t think she was harming her sister-in-law.
On the contrary, she thought she was painstakingly planning for her sister-in-law’s happiness!
She still didn’t see where she was wrong, which made Yang’s mother even more disappointed.
"When people get off work, we will split the family. From now on, we’ll each live our own lives!"
Li Hongyan panicked; if the family split, who would help her with the kids in the future?
Moreover, without in-laws to support them, they’d have to pay for everything themselves...
This family can’t be divided!
"Mom, Xiaofen is about to get married. Causing a family split now, how will others view us? If it affects Xiaofen’s marriage, we would be the sinners."
Yang’s mother stared at her daughter-in-law without speaking.
Li Hongyan was so unsettled by the stare that she felt a chill running down her back.
After a long while, Yang’s mother sneered, "If I don’t agree, it seems it’s my fault. Fine, let her marry first. After that, I won’t interfere in your matters anymore!"
