After Divorce: Remarried to a Tycoon with Twin Babies-Chapter 30: Vivian and Mr. Thorne Hide from the Jerk Husband, Separated by a Wall!
Vivian Sinclair’s heart skipped a beat.
Why did he have to come looking for her at this exact moment?
Vivian didn’t want to cause too much trouble, so she didn’t respond.
Austin Grant seemed to have entered the labyrinth too.
Inside, he was winding around, looking for her.
"Vivian?"
"Vivian Sinclair—"
Vivian’s act of playing deaf and dumb made Julian Thorne narrow his eyes slightly.
Did she not want her husband to find her?
A trace of deep meaning flashed in his eyes, and suddenly, he started to walk toward Vivian.
When he spoke, his voice was lowered to the utmost depth: "Miss Sinclair, your husband is looking for you. Aren’t you going to respond?"
"Or do you not want him to see you with a stranger?"
As he closed in, Vivian took steps back accordingly.
"No need for Mr. Thorne to worry about this matter."
"I just don’t want to cause unnecessary trouble. Mr. Thorne wouldn’t want trouble on his hands either, right?"
Julian Thorne suddenly stopped in his tracks.
A faint and ambiguous smile played on his lips: "Trouble?"
"What counts as trouble?"
"Miss Sinclair, why don’t we see if your husband—"
As he spoke, they heard footsteps coming closer.
"Who’s there—?"
Austin Grant had already arrived nearby!
Moreover, he heard someone talking.
Vivian’s heart leaped to her throat.
She acted almost without thinking, taking a few steps forward and tiptoeing to cover Julian Thorne’s mouth.
Her eyes were filled with tension.
Meeting Julian Thorne’s deep, dark eyes, there was a hint of pleading in them.
Suddenly, the voice was right in her ear.
"Vivian Sinclair, is that you?"
Vivian was so scared that her whole body went stiff.
She turned her head rigidly to look around.
There was no sign of Austin Grant around, but the voice was coming from behind!
So, Austin was just behind that hedge wall behind them!
Because the hedge was more than two meters high and covered with thorns, even though Austin was only separated by a wall, he couldn’t see if it was Vivian over here.
But if he began to have suspicions, it wouldn’t be hard for him to come around this way.
Vivian was incredibly nervous.
Suddenly, Julian Thorne raised his hand, and with very little effort, he pulled down Vivian’s cold little hand that was covering his mouth.
He looked down at her.
And leaned in closer.
In his eyes, there was a hint of teasing, as he leaned close to Vivian’s ear and asked in a voice only she could hear, "Miss Sinclair, have you made up your mind?"
The warm breath on Vivian’s ear made her shiver involuntarily.
Seeing her reaction, Julian Thorne’s eyes turned a shade darker.
Vivian knew she only had two choices now.
Call Austin over and explain that she was just lost.
Deal with this man named Julian and avoid the hassle of entangling with Austin.
Without much hesitation in her heart, she chose the latter.
Vivian gritted her teeth and replied in a low voice, "Help me divert him!"
Julian Thorne chuckled.
Unfortunately, Vivian didn’t see it.
"Alright."
Julian Thorne quickly changed his demeanor, stood up straight, and kicked a stone at the hedge with force.
Then his voice turned sharp as a blade of ice and even full of pressure, echoing back: "There’s no one here that you’re looking for!"
"Intruding on someone else’s affairs, get lost now!"
Austin Grant heard indeed a man’s voice.
He couldn’t help but frown: "Apologies, I seemed to have heard my wife’s voice just now."
"May I ask if there’s a lady with you, and could she say a word?"
Vivian hadn’t expected Austin’s hearing to be so keen!
She shook her head, indicating absolutely not to speak.
Julian Thorne’s playful gaze lingered on Vivian’s face for a moment longer.
After all, another’s marriage didn’t interest him.
Right now, it was just a transaction with Vivian.
"Quite interesting. Does this gentleman suspect that his wife is having an affair with another man?"
Vivian’s eyes widened: ?
Austin Grant: "Absolutely not! That’s impossible!"
He denied the absurd suspicion without a second thought.
He knew Vivian’s character very well.
In over a year of marriage, she didn’t even have contact with any male friends. Her private life was so simple and clean it bored even Austin himself.
She would never have an extramarital affair nor have any unclear relations with any other man.
Austin had absolute confidence in this.
And he believed the woman behind the hedge couldn’t possibly be Vivian.
If it were her, she would have made a sound by now.
"Sorry for the disturbance."
Leaving behind those words, he turned and left.
Holding his phone in hand, his face appeared ominously dark.
That disobedient woman had blocked him, leaving him unable to call!
He swore he’d hold her accountable once he found her!
Hearing Austin’s footsteps gradually fade away, Vivian finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank you."
A clap of thunder sounded in the sky. Before Vivian and Julian Thorne could make it out of the labyrinth, raindrops began to fall abruptly.
In just a moment, Vivian was soaked through.
She scrambled to cover herself, cursing the capricious weather, hoping she wouldn’t catch a cold.
Suddenly, something heavy dropped on her head.
Julian Thorne had thrown his coat over her head.
"Cover your head!"
The two of them made it out of the maze and into a small grove nearby, finally able to take shelter from the rain.
This sanatorium was indeed very large.
So large that Vivian couldn’t run back to the building in the rain and had to stay here.
She wrung the water from her dress and glanced at Mr. Thorne beside her.
After a pause, she took the initiative to speak: "Mr. Thorne, you should stop looking for W."
"As far as I know, she lost thoroughly in a competition where her career was on the line."
"So, she has already withdrawn from the art world."
"She will never have any more paintings in her life."
"Even if you find her, she can’t do anything for you."
"This is all I know about W, the last bit of relevant information. I really know nothing else."
After speaking, Vivian Sinclair received a call from Old Madam Grant.
"Hello, Vivian, where are you?"
"This rain suddenly started pouring, are you alright?"
"Austin said he got separated from you. Where are you? I’ll have him come pick you up."
Vivian Sinclair: "Grandmother, I’m by a pond."
"No need to trouble Austin. Some staff may pass by later, I’ll have them bring an umbrella."
After hanging up the phone, Vivian Sinclair turned around, but Mr. Thorne was nowhere in sight.
She let out a sigh of relief.
Standing under the tree for a while, she suddenly remembered she was still holding Mr. Thorne’s coat!
"Vivian Sinclair——!"
Just then, Austin Grant came over with an umbrella.
He rushed over anxiously with long strides.
Vivian Sinclair turned to hang the coat on the tree before walking out.
Austin Grant scolded her outright: "Why’d you run off like that?"
"Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you?"
"You got yourself drenched in the rain. What if you get sick and it affects the baby?"
"Do you want to drive people crazy?"
Vivian Sinclair ignored him, buried her head and kept walking forward.
She walked quickly.
Austin Grant chased after her in anger, grabbing her.
Through gritted teeth, he was full of helplessness: "The roads are slippery in the rain, do you want to fall again?"
He finished speaking and stuffed the umbrella into Vivian Sinclair’s hand, then unceremoniously lifted her up in his arms.
Vivian Sinclair was completely stiff.
Since they got married, this was the first intimate action aside from kissing on the forehead.
Austin Grant... what possessed him?
Right.
He still thinks she carries the child of him and Zoe Monroe.
Therefore, it’s his flesh and blood he’s cherishing.
Vivian Sinclair felt no hint of gratitude, instead, she was disgusted by his motives from the depths of her heart.
She only refrained from struggling because she cared about the safety of the babies inside her.
As they walked further, they did not see two figures emerging from the grove behind.
It was Julian Thorne and Special Assistant Linden.
Julian Thorne was holding a new umbrella, though it was of no use now.
Special Assistant Linden took off the coat hanging on the tree and asked, "Master Julian, what should we do with this coat?"
Master Julian detested others touching his belongings.
This coat worn by another woman likely had to be thrown away.
Julian Thorne: "Send it back to the Thorne Family."
Special Assistant Linden: ?
Curious.
"Understood."
Julian Thorne withdrew his gaze, turning to stare at the swirling vortices on the lake, recalling what Vivian Sinclair had said.
"Investigate."
"Find out what competition W participated in a year ago and what actually happened!"
Elsewhere, Vivian Sinclair was carried back by Austin Grant, and when the waiting Old Madam Grant saw them, she immediately laughed.
"Mrs. Archer, you see, I told you, these two kids just don’t spend enough time together!"
"I must create more opportunities like this for them in the future."
"Look quickly, Austin’s whole back is drenched from protecting Vivian!"
Mrs. Archer dared not say she thought it seemed like the Young Madam deliberately didn’t shield the Young Master from the rain.
Old Madam Grant was still deeply moved: "Go, contact the dean..."
The rain showed no sign of stopping.
Vivian Sinclair was settled in a new, unused room.
She first took a hot bath and changed into new lounge wear.
Holding ginger tea in her hand, she finally began to recover.
Standing by the window enjoying the rain, Austin Grant’s knock interrupted the elegance of the moment.
Vivian Sinclair unwillingly opened the door.
"What is it?"
Her cold demeanor made Austin Grant feel quite angry.
"Must you be like this?"
"Let’s talk!"
Austin Grant stepped into the room on his own, leaving Vivian Sinclair no choice but to close the door.
"Talk about what, go ahead."
Her attitude of wanting him gone as soon as possible made Austin Grant’s anger flare up inside.
"Vivian, don’t you think you’ve changed a lot recently?"
Vivian Sinclair: "Really? I don’t feel that way."
Austin Grant sneered: "Ever since that Grant Family banquet where I brought Zoe Monore, you started changing."
"You’re minding Zoe’s appearance."
"Even after you showed me different moods and occasionally had some of your former tenderness, you turned around and blocked me, resorting to ridiculous and childish methods to get my attention, incite my concern for you."
"Vivian, do you not think this is a bit much?"
Vivian Sinclair felt like laughing.
In the past, she never thought Austin Grant was so full of himself?
She truly wanted to slap him across the face and ask him where he got the nerve to be so narcissistic.
Just as Vivian Sinclair was about to speak, there was a knock on the door again.
It was Mrs. Archer.
Seeing the two of them in the room, her face lit up with a smile: "Young Master, Young Madam."
"Today’s rain looks like it won’t stop anytime soon."
"The Old Madam says she doesn’t feel well and plans to stay here overnight and return together tomorrow."
"I’m afraid you’ll both be inconvenienced to stay and accompany her for the night."
Stay here overnight?
Vivian Sinclair immediately asked: "Then are there no other vacant rooms?"
