After Divorce: Remarried to a Tycoon with Twin Babies-Chapter 139: Vivian and Catherine Were Meant to Be Twins!
Vivian exclaimed, "Ah!"
Catherine quickly covered her mouth.
"Shh— don’t shout!"
She whispered, "Be careful not to let anyone outside hear us."
Vivian realized her hands and neck felt swollen and painful. She hurriedly raised her hands, finally seeing that her hands and wrists were densely punctured with fine needles.
Her neck must be the same?
She glanced at the fine needle still in Catherine’s hand and guessed she had just been performing acupuncture on her.
Vivian shook her head, gradually becoming alert.
"Am I back at the Sinclair Family home?"
Vivian glanced at the room.
It still looked familiar, like the bedroom she lived in for twenty-two years with the Sinclair Family.
Apart from the things she had already taken away with her, everything else remained almost unchanged.
Vivian was indeed surprised that the Sinclair Family had kept her room.
But what surprised her more was that Catherine actually knew acupuncture.
Facing Vivian’s curious gaze, Catherine proactively explained, "I’ve been learning from an elder who is a Chinese medicine practitioner since childhood; I suppose I have some talent."
"But now the family doesn’t let me touch Chinese medicine anymore." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"They want me to learn business."
As she spoke, Catherine forced a stiff smile.
Vivian: "I understand."
"I liked painting since I was little, but they didn’t allow it."
"However, they didn’t force me to learn business."
It seemed the family had learned from their failed educational experience with their daughter Vivian, and planned to cultivate Catherine in a more successful direction.
Catherine: "You like painting? I haven’t heard them mention it at home."
The two exchanged a look, sharing a sympathetic sigh for each other, and gaining a clearer understanding of the Sinclair Family.
The Sinclair Family only wanted obedient daughters.
Who they truly were might never have mattered.
Vivian: "Let’s not talk about this."
"Was it Elias who brought me back?"
"Do you know what he intends to do?"
Catherine glanced at the time, which seemed about right, so she first removed the silver needles from Vivian’s body, one by one.
Then, she brought her a cup of water and said, "He’s convincing Mom and Dad, trying to... terminate the child in your belly."
Vivian’s face changed in an instant, "What?"
"How dare he!?"
Saying this, Vivian shakily touched her abdomen, not sensing any anomaly, yet furiously slammed her fist on the bed, "He thinks he can just terminate my child?"
"Who does he think he is?"
"Does he still see me as the teenage girl, obediently letting him control my life?"
"I’m no longer the Vivian who puts the Sinclair Family first!"
Now, her children were the most important in her life.
Anyone who dared to touch her children was her mortal enemy!
Catherine watched Vivian’s furious expression and quickly soothed her, "Don’t worry."
"I will help you."
"But now my phone has been confiscated too."
"Perhaps brother fears that I will help notify you, so I’m not allowed out either."
"Let’s think of other ways besides notifying you."
Vivian had long known that Elias was a resourceful and calculating person; he would use any means necessary to achieve his goals.
Sometimes, he would meticulously plan for years to accomplish his goals.
So it wasn’t surprising that he anticipated Catherine might help her.
As the two were about to continue, footsteps came from outside the door.
Vivian quickly lay down and closed her eyes.
Catherine swiftly and instinctively gathered the silver needles, stuffing them into her arms.
When Wendy pushed the door open, Catherine had already resumed the demeanor of a cold and arrogant young lady, glaring viciously at Vivian lying on the bed.
Wendy was startled.
"Catherine, why are you here?"
"You didn’t do anything to Vivian, did you?"
Wendy hurriedly approached, first reaching out to feel Vivian’s forehead.
Then she gently lifted the blanket to check that Vivian had no apparent injuries, finally breathing a sigh of relief.
Catherine saw Wendy’s expressions, and coldly snorted, "Mom, what did you think I was going to do?"
Wendy barely managed a smile, "Catherine, you misunderstood mom."
"Mom just didn’t expect you to come see Vivian."
"By the way, Vivian hasn’t woken up, has she?"
Wendy’s probing glance made Catherine’s heart hurt.
Who did she truly love the most?
Or perhaps she didn’t love anyone?
Was she biased toward her in front of Vivian?
Yet very visibly favored Vivian in front of her?
Could her true feelings flip so easily?
They didn’t expect her to treat them perfectly equally, just hoped she could genuinely love them.
Forget it.
Thinking about it was pointless.
Catherine let out a cold laugh, "If she was awake, the Sinclair Family wouldn’t be so quiet now."
Wendy sighed helplessly, "Catherine, we have intentionally neglected Vivian for you."
"In these two years, Vivian has suffered outside, facing cold shoulders and ridicule."
"Now Vivian is divorced, homeless; we can’t be heartless and ignore her anymore, can we?"
"Don’t be resentful towards her, alright?"
"Your brother said last time you ran away from home, it was Vivian who helped you; I thought your relationship would improve, but instead, you still..."
Wendy was full of worry, even carrying a hint of disappointment as she looked at Catherine.
Catherine’s heart was breaking inch by inch.
Did she think she would really target Vivian?
Did she ask them to ignore and neglect Vivian?
Clearly, their actions, so why use her name to harm Vivian?
They truly underestimated her!
Catherine was really burning with anger now.
"It’s because of you that Vivian and I are like fire and water!"
"She helped me, but wasn’t that her obligation?"
"I took her to the streets to try some street food, and she looked down on it."
"Ha."
"Who is she to look down on it?"
"She was the one who was supposed to grow up in an orphanage, the one who should consider a single meal of street food a luxury, not me!"
"The more I see her living like a queen, the more hatred I feel inside!"
"Didn’t brother say he wanted to get rid of the Sinclair bastard she’s carrying?"
"I think if we’re going to do it, let’s do it quickly!"
"Otherwise, when her belly gets bigger, it’ll be a problem of one body, three lives."
"Hmph!"
After finishing, Catherine turned her head up and left in anger.
Wendy Warren covered her chest and sat down by the bed.
With a face full of pain and resentment, she sighed and cried, "What kind of sin have I committed!"
"Dealing with these two little ancestors... none of them are easy!"
"Is it my fate, or my sin?"
After Wendy wiped her tears and left, Vivian finally turned over and opened her eyes.
She confirmed that no one was outside, quietly opened the door, and tiptoed out.
She didn’t expect to be passing by the room next door when the door suddenly opened a crack, and then Vivian was pulled inside.
"How was my portrayal of the vicious and envious true lady persona just now?"
"Do you think I acted well?"
"Did I scare mom?"
Catherine eagerly waited for Vivian’s compliments.
Vivian, however, reached out and tightly hugged her.
Their stature was similar.
Even their hair length was almost the same.
Except Vivian had curly hair.
Catherine had long straight hair.
Though they didn’t resemble each other at all, Vivian had a strange illusion.
As if they should have been a pair of twins.
Maybe she was just overly sensitive during pregnancy.
Or perhaps it’s empathy.
Vivian deeply understood the helplessness and bitterness Catherine felt when she said those words.
"It’s okay."
"Even if you dislike me a bit, it doesn’t matter."
Catherine scoffed, "Then who should you dislike?"
"We sympathize with each other, understanding each other’s difficulties; it’s the rarest thing fate can offer."
"See, I didn’t even explain that those words earlier were against my will."
"I don’t envy you at all."
"Just like you don’t resent me for coming back to take everything away from you."
"Ah."
"Really, there’s nothing to worry about."
"You understand I wasn’t sincere earlier, and that’s enough."
"It already makes me feel very happy."
Catherine reluctantly released Vivian from her embrace.
The two exchanged a smile and held each other’s hands: "Let’s go!"
"I just thought of a plan."
"You pretend to be me, and I’ll pretend to be you."
"Once you sneak out of the Sinclair Family, you’ll find someone to meet you, and then they won’t be able to harm you or your baby."
"Hurry, I need you to wear my clothes, and you need to curl my hair."
Vivian thought: This seems like a really good idea.
"Okay, let’s hurry up."
The two got to work immediately, quickly changing clothes and curling hair.
Vivian even altered their makeup slightly, making it hard to tell them apart from the side or back.
Catherine found it amusing, "Now, we’ve become the true and false lady indeed."
Vivian also chuckled, and they used the camera in Catherine’s room to capture the moment, then didn’t delay any longer and left the room together.
Catherine returned to Vivian’s room.
Vivian sneaked away, avoiding all lines of sight, heading to the Sinclair Family’s basement.
This process took some time, but fortunately, she had lived in this house for over twenty years, so she was familiar with every nook and cranny.
She naturally succeeded in sabotaging the electrical circuit.
The Sinclair Family was instantly plunged into darkness.
"Power outage?"
"What’s going on? Quickly check it out!"
The Sinclair Family started panicking a bit but soon calmed down quickly.
The backup power would take some time to start.
Weak candlelights were lit everywhere in the house.
Vivian calculated she had twenty minutes to escape.
She followed the wall out of the basement, just as she reached the stairs, she met the housekeeper Mrs. Chamberlain.
"Miss, Mr. and Mrs. are talking in the study."
"If you’re okay, don’t disturb them."
Mrs. Chamberlain said without looking at her and walked away lightly.
Vivian stood in place for several seconds before realizing that Mrs. Chamberlain probably didn’t recognize her.
So, by ’miss’, she indeed meant Catherine.
But her attitude still slightly stung Vivian.
The tone of disrespect and disdain was something even Vivian noticed, so how could Catherine not feel anything regularly?
Previously, Mrs. Chamberlain had always been respectful, never like this.
Vivian could keenly feel the difference.
Even if it’s inconvenient to overhear the adults talking, it would never have been with such a tone of estrangement and contempt!
Catherine came back... to live in such conditions?
At that moment, Vivian felt slightly suffocated.
She decided to eavesdrop on what secrets they might have that Catherine couldn’t know!
Vivian knew how to eavesdrop in this house.
She also knew how to perfectly hide herself and avoid prying eyes.
Once she found her secret spot, she happened to hear Elias’s voice through a crack: "Vivian’s unborn child must be aborted!"
