After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic-Chapter 767: Revenge from the Ex-Boyfriend
The event hall was bustling with a lively and harmonious atmosphere. Isabella Weaver felt particularly relaxed, her gaze sweeping across the room until she suddenly noticed someone staring at her, causing her to pause.
Milo Field?
What is he doing here?
She vaguely remembered that he had signed with a talent agency and entered the entertainment industry as an actor. He shouldn’t be able to attend such auctions.
Milo Field held a wine glass, slowly walking over.
"Isabella, long time no see. You’re even more beautiful than before."
This kind of opening remark was inexplicably tinged with an ambiguous air, his tone tender and lingering, easily leading to misunderstandings.
Ben Hunter and Nick Ross both frowned and looked over.
In such a formal setting, everyone came to discuss collaboration and make money. No one dared to speak to Isabella Weaver with such a suggestive tone. Was this clueless person simply brainless, or just oblivious?
Isabella Weaver knew Milo Field better than anyone present. He wasn’t brainless, nor was he oblivious. He was a sophisticated person, and under normal circumstances, his public image was always poised and elegant.
For him to suddenly act inappropriately today, it had to be intentional.
She stared at Milo Field for a moment, lowering her voice and softly said, "What did she offer you to make you willing to make such a sacrifice in front of everyone?"
"What are you talking about? Who offered me anything? I just wanted to have a drink with you, that’s all."
Milo Field attempted to get closer to her, but was blocked by Grace Watt with a cold face: "Get lost!"
Milo Field looked down at Grace Watt, indifferent to being told off, gently saying, "You must be Isabella’s bodyguard, right? Thank you for always protecting her. You’re really a good girl. Let me drink to you first."
Grace Watt’s eyebrows nearly knitted together. Who needed his thanks? Who did he think he was!
Milo Field, having already helped himself to a drink, turned around with another glass in hand. Looking over Grace Watt at Isabella Weaver, he spoke softly and wistfully, "So heartless, forgotten me after marrying into a wealthy family, not even willing to have a drink? We used to be so in love, didn’t we, Isabella?"
His voice was quite loud, attracting many onlookers.
Grace Watt grabbed him by the collar, a knife in hand pressed against his abdomen: "Shut up, say another word and you’ll regret it!"
But Milo Field just laughed, brazenly saying, "There are so many people watching here. Try stabbing me. In broad daylight, you dare to take a life? You really are like bandits!"
Isabella Weaver knew that Grace Watt would never actually stab him—it was just a threat.
She pulled back Grace Watt, stepping in front of Milo Field, her face showing slight surprise: "Milo Field, I almost didn’t recognize you. Do you need something from me? If you want a job at my company, just say so. We were college classmates—I’ll definitely help with that. But talking about some romance is just too much. People who don’t know might think we actually dated!"
Her tone was light-hearted, the surprise on her face gradually turning into a smile, looking at him with indulgence, as if he were a child throwing a tantrum.
Milo Field was momentarily stunned. He didn’t expect Isabella Weaver to switch gears so swiftly! Her adaptability had become so strong, he couldn’t fathom her anymore!
His former girlfriend was so close, yet felt so unfamiliar.
"Isabella, do you want to erase everything from our past? Is there really nothing to hide about us having been in love?"
Isabella Weaver was almost amused by him!
Back in the day, when they were together, he went to great lengths to conceal it, even refusing to walk or eat with her for fear of being discovered!
It had been so long, and now he says there’s nothing to hide?
He was unkind, so he shouldn’t blame her for being ruthless!
