After Betrayal - I Married a Handsome Tycoon-Chapter 116: Asking for a Scolding
Should he kiss her?
Moira Sloan was like a siren, a vibrant and seductive vision under the night sky. ๐ป๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ธโฏ๐ท๐๐ฐ๐โฏ๐ญ.๐ค๐ฐ๐ฎ
The moment Moira finished speaking, Connor Quinn granted her wish. His large hand hooked around her waist, lifting her slightly as he lowered his head and pressed a kiss to the corner of her lips.
Honestly, this side of Connor Quinn was more than enough to satisfy a certain secret desire in a girl.
The kind of desire every girl harbors deep downโthe one to be a little dramatic, to act like a bit of a diva.
A man who was cold and hard, yet he doted on you, spoiled you.
Heโd let you do as you please, catering to your every whim.
The feeling was simply incredible.
When the kiss ended, a smile played on Moira Sloanโs red lips. Her slender fingertips traced Connor Quinnโs Adamโs apple before hooking his chin teasingly. "Boss Quinn, would you like to..."
Before Moira Sloan could finish her sentence, the harsh blare of a car horn sounded from behind them.
Moira furrowed her brow and turned around, her gaze locking with Shane Jenningsโ, who was sitting in his car with the window rolled down.
Their eyes met. The pain in Shaneโs was obvious.
Seeing his expression, Moira raised an eyebrow and gave a scornful little laugh.
โHeโs the one who did all the disgusting things, and now *heโs* the one whoโs hurting.โ
โTsk. Whereโs the justice in this world?โ
After a long moment, Shane spoke, his voice hoarse. "Moira, I want to talk to you."
Moira gave a mocking smile, neither moving nor stepping forward. "What is there to talk about?"
Shane gripped the steering wheel, his gaze shifting past Moira to Connor Quinn.
To be honest, he couldnโt accept it.
The girl he had loved for seven years, the girl who had been by his side for seven years, was now nestled alluringly in another manโs arms.
Just the thought of it sent a throbbing pain through his chest.
Seeing that Moira Sloan remained motionless, Shane pushed his door open and got out of the car.
At the sight, a sharp glint flashed in Connor Quinnโs eyes. He was about to pull Moira behind him when he heard her say first, "You wait here for me."
โShe was curious to hear what other shameless things he could possibly say.โ
"Mm," Connor replied in a cold voice.
After speaking to Connor, Moira Sloan clicked over in her high heels to stand before Shane Jennings. She crossed her arms, her once gentle, limpid eyes now filled with contempt and mockery.
Moiraโs gaze was so direct that Shaneโs impulsive energy from moments before immediately deflated.
After a long pause, he squeezed out the words, "I never slept with Rachel Yates."
Moira scoffed. "And?"
Shane said, "You have to believe me."
Moira sneered. "Whether you slept with Rachel Yates or not, what does that have to do with me? Shane Jennings, have you forgotten? We broke up. And youโre married. Your legal wifeโs name is Cassie Blanchett."
Shane was speechless.
Moira continued, "Shane, there are some things I didnโt want to say, but since you insisted on chasing me down tonight just to get an earful, Iโd feel like I was doing our seven-year relationship a disservice if I didnโt oblige. To be honest, I couldnโt care less if you slept with Rachel Yates. I just have one question for you: while we were dating, she repeatedly made advances on you. Did you or did you not know she was trying to seduce you?"
Shane tried to defend himself. "I didnโt know. I just felt sorry for her. I..."
Moiraโs voice dripped with sarcasm. "Even now, youโre still lying."
Shane choked on his words.
Moira said, "Shane, weโre both adults. When youโre in a relationship, do I really need to teach you what kind of boundaries to maintain with the opposite sex?"
Faced with Moiraโs accusation, Shane raised a hand and tugged at the tie around his neck.
He suddenly felt that his tie was too tight today, that he was suffocating.
Moira said, "To put it bluntly, you just enjoyed the feeling."
His innermost thoughts exposed, Shaneโs hand paused on his tie.
They had been together for seven years, after all. They could read each otherโs slightest tells. Seeing his reaction, Moira knew she was right.
Moira stared at Shane, the mockery on her face deepening. "Shane Jennings, letโs just part amicably. You donโt need to put on this act of undying love. Iโm not buying it. From now on, we go our separate ways. If we happen to see each other on the street, we donโt even need to say hello."
Shane said hoarsely, "You were never this aggressive with me before."
Moira replied, "You said it yourselfโthat was before. Before, you were my boyfriend. Who are you to me now?"
Shane froze, a chill sweeping through his entire body.
It was in that moment he suddenly realized that Moira truly had no feelings left for him. Not even a shred of lingering affection.
After she spoke, Moira looked at Shaneโs defeated face and said lightly, "I actually didnโt have to go to the Jennings Familyโs home today. The Jennings Family is in business, and Iโm not some unknown rookie in the world of lacquerware. No matter how capable your family is, their reach doesnโt extend to my field. The only reason I went was because I was worried Connor Quinn would be put in a difficult position."
Hearing Moiraโs words, Shaneโs pupils constricted.
Then, he blurted out, "Youโre protecting him? Do you even know who he is? The reason we broke up..."
