After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 73: No rush, we have a long way to go with our magical battles!
"What a ruthless man. With his power alone, he forced the Old Master of the Hong Family to compromise and let him leave."
"So domineering! I’ve never heard of anything like it!"
It wasn’t just the Hong Family’s Guests; everyone’s heart was in turmoil, as if they had just witnessed a miracle. The Martial Arts experts, who had invested countless hours of blood and sweat into this evaluation, felt a similar pang of sympathy.
Furthermore, after Shen Fanyun’s rampage, the Hong Family no longer seemed so appealing. They were now hesitant to dedicate their bright futures to serving them.
This was a world where the strong were revered.
When the authority of a prestigious family was challenged and began to crumble, people would naturally stop looking at it with the reverence one would a god.
"The Old Master understands," Shen Fanyun smiled, gesturing for Su Xiyang to follow him.
Filled with indignation, Hong Danggui pressed her right hand on Hong Tianzhao’s wheelchair so hard that veins bulged on her hand. She fantasized about it: at her command, countless supporters would swarm him, beat him into submission, and force him to kneel before her, begging for forgiveness!
Pausing near the doorway, Shen Fanyun suddenly turned back. "Oh, and I know you’re not convinced," he said to Hong Tianzhao. "You’re probably already plotting your revenge. But let me offer a piece of advice... before you make a move, first consider whether you—or even your entire Hong Family—can afford the consequences."
Then, he lifted his foot, brought it down gently, and slowly ground it against the floor twice. "Farewell."
Only after completing this series of actions did Shen Fanyun finally pull Su Xiyang away from this place of conflict.
"Grandfather, why did you let that bastard go?"
"Why should our Hong Family fear someone like him? I say we summon all our family’s retainers and kill him now! Otherwise, we’ll just be nursing a viper in our bosom."
Hong Danggui was still unwilling to let it go. On the one hand, Shen Fanyun had been too presumptuous, slapping a noble lady like her multiple times. On the other, she would never allow anyone to trample on her dignity. Shen Fanyun had crossed an unforgivable line. This man must not be allowed to live!
"Danggui, you still underestimate his strength."
"Heed my words. For the time being, you are to stay home. Don’t go anywhere, lest you run into him again."
"That man would truly dare to kill you!"
"Furthermore, nothing that happened tonight is to be leaked to anyone. Anyone who speaks of it will be killed without mercy!"
Hong Tianzhao sighed and looked up. Today’s turmoil was a classic case of shooting himself in the foot. Just as Shen Fanyun had said, a person needs to know their own limits and not be blindly arrogant.
"Hangcheng City is our Hong Family’s territory! I’m not afraid!" Hong Danggui said stubbornly, defying Hong Tianzhao’s orders.
Hong Tianzhao’s tone became icy. "You should be afraid. And you must be."
BOOM!
In an instant, a crack as thick as an infant’s arm appeared out of nowhere. It snaked its way from the entrance all the way to Hong Tianzhao’s feet, shattering countless floor tiles in its path.
A glance around revealed a scene of devastation. An area of a hundred square meters was now a web of fractures, littered with rubble and billowing dust, like the aftermath of an apocalypse.
This terrifying sight stunned everyone present.
Hong Danggui’s eyes widened as she gasped. She belatedly realized that this was a warning Shen Fanyun had deliberately left for the Hong Family.
To shatter the ground with a single stomp?
"If someone like that truly wanted to kill you, a single finger would be enough." Hong Tianzhao’s face was ashen, as if speaking those words had drained all the strength from his body.
Hong Danggui was speechless.
"But... are we just going to let it go like this?" Hong Danggui clutched her still-stinging cheek. The memory of Shen Fanyun slapping her with a blank expression filled her with hatred.
"Let it go?" Hong Tianzhao shook his head. "He may be strong, but the Hong Family is by no means a nobody!"
"We are merely biding our time, recuperating until the real storm arrives."
Hong Tianzhao looked back, thought for a moment, then waved his hand. "Go. Inform your Third Uncle. He must return to Hangcheng City within fifteen days."
"Third Uncle?" Hong Danggui’s eyes lit up, and she was overjoyed.
This was the supreme expert their family had produced, and he was currently in the Capital City!
Su Xiyang was still shaken by the events of the evening. At the same time, she was also seeing Shen Fanyun in a completely new light.
That bastard might be a lecher, but he’s also genuinely strong. No wonder his... performance... was so exceptional. He was a martial artist. Even a woman like her knew what that implied. When it came to stamina, power, and even the control required for difficult positions, people like him were far superior to ordinary men!
But on second thought, worry crept back in. "Did you just... completely and utterly offend the Hong Family?"
"Yes," Shen Fanyun replied without hesitation.
Su Xiyang broke out in a cold sweat. "You’re insane! Aren’t you afraid they’ll go crazy and do everything in their power to keep you here tonight?"
"Then we’ll go down together. I don’t care," Shen Fanyun shrugged with a cheeky grin. "A real man stands tall. Even if I die, I’ll die hard. You can lose the battle, but you can’t lose face!"
Su Xiyang was speechless. She didn’t know exactly what he meant, but she knew it was something crude.
"You already have a feud with the Han Family, and now you’ve antagonized the well-established Hong Family. What on earth did you come back to Hangcheng City for? To act as the Demon Lord of Mayhem and make an enemy of every major power?"
The same thought resurfaced in her mind: she had to cut ties with Shen Fanyun, and cleanly. The man was probably insane, picking fights with everyone. Who knew when his luck would run out? She was terrified that when he finally went down, she’d be dragged down with him to her grave!
Shen Fanyun put on an innocent expression. "They started it. I was just defending myself."
"But you..." Su Xiyang’s heart pounded in her chest. She saw it with her own eyes! He slapped Hong Tianzhao! My god, that’s Hong Tianzhao, one of the top ten power brokers in Hangcheng City!
"If anything, I didn’t slap him enough," Shen Fanyun muttered.
Su Xiyang was speechless.
The Shen Fanyun of this moment seemed like a completely different person from the domineering, god-like figure he had been just minutes before.
Su Xiyang felt powerless to persuade him any further and could only offer a warning. "I heard the Hong Family has a very powerful figure who has been based in the Capital City for many years."
"After the mess you made of the Hong Family tonight, there’s a good chance that person will return. You need to watch your back. You’re out in the open, while your enemy is in the shadows."
Shen Fanyun wrapped an arm around Su Xiyang and grinned. "Thanks for your concern, little lady."
"We didn’t make it to the reception today. I’ll have to find a way to make it up to you."
"How about we stay in Yunxiao’s presidential suite tonight?"
Su Xiyang was speechless.
Is he trying to compensate her, or himself? She’d seen through his ulterior motives long ago!
"I... I..." Su Xiyang’s face flushed red, and her voice became as faint as the buzzing of a fly. "S-staying is fine... but don’t you touch me."
Shen Fanyun ruffled Su Xiyang’s hair. "Got it. I’m not an animal, you can relax."
"You are!" Su Xiyang’s eyes twinkled.
Shen Fanyun was left speechless. Can’t we ever have a normal conversation?
