After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 60, You Dare Harbor Killing Intent Over Such a Trivial Matter?
Old Master Su leaped through the crowd and grabbed Su Xiyang by the arm, his face full of anger. With his arrival, the standoff between the two sides came to an unofficial pause.
"Why, if it isn’t Su Ke, The Elder Su?"
"I was wondering whose young lady this was. Turns out she’s your granddaughter."
Someone recognized Old Master Su and immediately called him out, then stared meaningfully at Su Ke.
Feigning enthusiasm, Su Ke greeted some acquaintances, but their responses were lukewarm, making Elder Su slightly embarrassed.
One man, with his arms crossed, asked curiously, "Su Ke, how did you get in here?"
"I heard the organizers of this business conference didn’t invite you. Shouldn’t you be at home enjoying your twilight years instead of being here?"
"How strange. How exactly did you get in?"
As the saying goes, the tea cools once a person leaves. Su Ke was well aware of this principle, having experienced it firsthand over the years. Back in the day, when the Su Family was at its peak, which of these so-called old friends didn’t nod and bow respectfully when they saw him? Now, they all wished they could jump on his head to shit and piss all over him.
It’s best for a person to never fall from grace. Once you do, you’re destined to lead a miserable life!
Su Ke smiled sheepishly, then quickly grabbed Su Xiyang’s wrist and demanded, "What in the world did you do to make President Cheng and Elder Hou Si so furious?"
"Apologize right now!"
Su Xiyang snatched her hand away, brimming with indignation. "Why should I apologize?"
"I’m not the one at fault here! I’m the victim, so why should I be the one to apologize?"
Su Ke couldn’t be bothered with the messy details. He didn’t care about what had actually happened. In his mind, neither Elder Hou Si nor President Cheng was someone the Su Family could afford to provoke.
"Apologize!" Su Ke’s voice rose an octave.
Shen Fanyun’s head throbbed. He felt sorry for Su Xiyang, having to put up with a grandfather like that.
"I will not," Su Xiyang shot back, her temper flaring as she staunchly refused Su Ke’s stern command.
Seeing Su Ke raise his right hand, Su Xiyang simply stretched her face forward. "Go on, hit me. Even if you beat me to death today, I will not apologize."
"I told you, it wasn’t my fault!"
"Sigh," Su Ke sighed, then turned to President Cheng and Elder Hou Si with an embarrassed expression. "I’m old, and the children don’t listen to me anymore."
"I’m truly sorry for the trouble we’ve caused you both."
The crowd watched Su Ke’s pathetic, timid demeanor and couldn’t help but sneer.
Not long ago, rumors had it that Wang Yanwen, Young Master of the Extraordinary Group, had taken an interest in Su Ke’s granddaughter—presumably this beautiful young woman right here. At the time, everyone lamented that this old coot had seized another opportunity to lead the Su Family back to prominence.
Who would have thought that Wang Yanwen would suddenly get engaged to someone else and move abroad? Through this turmoil, not only did the Su Family fail to rise, but they had also become a laughingstock.
Now, everyone was eager to take this chance to trample on Su Ke a little more.
"You think a simple ’sorry’ is enough to settle this? You should know, if your granddaughter hadn’t caused trouble for no reason, President Cheng would be giving his speech right now."
"Do you have any idea how much of President Cheng’s time your granddaughter has wasted?"
Someone stood up to defend President Cheng, and more and more people chimed in.
Surrounded by the supportive crowd, the smile on President Cheng’s lips grew wider.
This is the advantage of status. No one really cares who is right or wrong in this conflict; they only look for opportunities to curry favor with me.
"You’re not welcome here, so get lost!" someone shouted, trying to rile up the crowd and demanding that Su Xiyang leave immediately instead of shaming herself further.
"Such a young girl, full of lies, and even trying to slander our President Cheng."
"What kind of woman couldn’t our President Cheng get? Why would he take a fancy to someone like you? Heh, I advise you to get out right now before you pollute our eyes!"
The torrent of accusations hit her from all sides.
Su Xiyang clenched her fists.
Humiliation.
Indignation.
A profound sense of injustice.
I’m clearly the victim, so how did it all become my fault in the end? Where did I go wrong? Was it because I didn’t let President Cheng grope my ass? Was it because I didn’t abandon my dignity to cooperate with his lewd advances?
"Leave? It won’t be that easy," Elder Hou Si said, his cold gaze falling on Shen Fanyun.
Shen Fanyun shrugged. "I actually had no intention of leaving."
"You little beast! You’ve repeatedly offended me and shown disrespect to President Cheng. If I don’t teach you a lesson today, you’ll never know who I, Elder Hou Si, really am in Hangcheng City!"
BOOM!
Elder Hou Si suddenly struck. The wind from his fist boomed like a drum, letting out a sharp, trembling sound. His speed was blindingly fast, blurring the trajectory of his punch as it smashed precisely and heavily toward Shen Fanyun’s face.
Shen Fanyun stood his ground. As Elder Hou Si lunged forward, Shen Fanyun stretched out his hand and unbelievably caught the incoming fist, causing a loud crack to echo through the venue. The impact sounded like a massive wave crashing against a cliff.
With Elder Hou Si striking at full force, everyone had assumed that if Shen Fanyun failed to dodge, he was doomed to die by that fist. Yet, against all odds, Shen Fanyun stood completely unshaken.
This...
"How is this possible? Elder Hou Si is a Master of Fist Way! That punch could shatter walls of bronze and iron. How did he catch it? And with sheer physical force at that."
"There’s something strange about this kid."
"Something’s not right. This guy is a martial artist, too!"
The spectators were all aghast. The shockwave from Elder Hou Si’s punch had rippled through the air, buffeting everyone’s faces. How could an ordinary person possibly withstand such a blow?
"It was just a verbal dispute, yet you attacked with killing intent," Shen Fanyun said calmly. "You, the supposed Master of Fist Way—are you just that petty, or are you just used to treating human lives as worthless?"
Shen Fanyun stomped on the ground, completely dissipating the force of the blow. He still firmly gripped Elder Hou Si’s fist. The latter tried to break free but was utterly powerless. Shen Fanyun’s words also made Elder Hou Si’s expression darken.
He had indeed intended to kill, to strike Shen Fanyun dead on the spot. Who told this brat to run his mouth and dare to disrespect him?
However, plans rarely survive contact with reality.
This kid... he’s a hidden master?!
"So fond of killing?" Shen Fanyun tilted his head, watching Elder Hou Si, who was just inches away, with a calm, unreadable smile.
Elder Hou Si steadied himself and retorted, "Kid, do you think you’ve won?"
"I admit you’re strong, but you’ve picked a fight with the wrong person today."
WHOOSH!
Elder Hou Si took a deep breath. His arms suddenly swelled as he forcefully wrenched his fist from Shen Fanyun’s grasp.
"Oh?" Shen Fanyun raised his sword-sharp eyebrows. With his free hand, he nonchalantly took out a cigarette.
CLICK!
He lit it right in front of Elder Hou Si, then took a long, leisurely drag before puffing the smoke right in his opponent’s face.
