After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 45, Do you know what shameless means?!
"Who are you?" Shen Junhuan looked down at Xu Bingqing, his tone indifferent.
Xu Bingqing was too frightened to make a sound, but she knew that silence was not the best choice when facing such a prominent figure. "I, I... my name is Xu Bingqing," she finally managed to say.
Shen Junhuan, of course, did not recognize her. When he looked up at Zhao Wenhai, who was still covering his pale face, the man quickly explained that she was a young woman from the Xu Family, a local of Hangcheng City. He also provided the name of Xu Bingqing’s father.
"Is he famous?" Shen Junhuan asked. The unspoken question was clear: Was the Xu Family prominent enough to warrant his precious time for a special inquiry?
Zhao Wenhai fell silent. Xu Bingqing took a sharp breath, Shen Junhuan’s words a profound humiliation. She felt her dignity, her very being, and the honor of the entire Xu Family being ground into dust. However, as a prominent figure from the capital, it was understandable that Shen Junhuan held the Xu Family in such low regard.
"Is anyone from the Xu Family on the guest list?" Shen Junhuan asked Xu Yang.
Xu Yang quickly pulled out the list and checked it carefully. Indeed, there was someone with the surname Xu, but the given name didn’t match that of Xu Bingqing’s father. Furthermore, Xu Bingqing’s own name was nowhere to be found.
"Hm?" Shen Junhuan raised an eyebrow, staring silently at Xu Bingqing.
A chill ran down Xu Bingqing’s spine as she belatedly realized her mistake. Previously, her attention was so focused on Shen Fanyun using the back door that she completely forgot she had gotten in the exact same way. If Zhao Wenhai hadn’t pulled some strings, she wouldn’t have been qualified to enter the main hall at all.
"Where is your invitation?" Shen Junhuan demanded.
Xu Bingqing said nothing.
"How interesting," Shen Junhuan sneered. "Someone who actually snuck in is putting on airs and trying to drive away one of my most important guests."
"I... I’m sorry... I don’t have an invitation." When Xu Bingqing finally confessed, she felt as if she were about to collapse. Her dignity was completely trampled, leaving her overcome with shame.
The other guests began to murmur. "What? She doesn’t have an invitation? I thought she was an invited guest." "The girl is clueless. She snuck in herself, but instead of keeping a low profile, she acts all high and mighty?" "Exactly! Who does she think she is?" They all agreed that Xu Bingqing had gone too far. She didn’t know her place, and making such a scene had only brought shame upon herself.
"Slap yourself," Shen Junhuan commanded, his tone carrying an undeniable authority.
Xu Bingqing lowered her head, gritting her teeth. She could feel her cheeks burning and her eyes growing hot as tears threatened to spill. She had always been proud, someone who enjoyed being the center of attention and had immense self-respect. She couldn’t bear the thought of appearing so flustered and timid in front of everyone.
"Before you look down on others and give them a hard time, you should first take a look at your own character and consider whether you’re even qualified to do so." Shen Junhuan scoffed and shook his head. He instructed Xu Yang, "Watch her. Once she’s slapped herself, throw her out."
"Understood," Xu Yang nodded.
Xu Bingqing stood frozen in place, teardrops as large as peas finally rolling uncontrollably down her cheeks.
"Let’s go," Shen Fanyun reminded Su Xiyang.
Su Xiyang hummed softly in agreement.
As they left, Shen Fanyun and Shen Junhuan had no direct interaction. They simply brushed past each other without a word of greeting, neither pausing for the other. This wasn’t because Shen Junhuan was unwilling, but simply because Shen Fanyun disliked it. If Shen Junhuan were to publicly acknowledge their relationship, countless people in Hangcheng City would try to curry favor with Shen Fanyun from then on.
"Big shots are on a whole other level. Their aura is just different, so commanding. When he was standing near me, I felt like I could barely breathe," Su Xiyang muttered, turning to glance at Shen Junhuan, who was laughing and chatting with a few people not far away. "Is this that legendary sense of pressure everyone talks about?"
She really wanted to go over and make an appearance.
"By the way, why did he stand up for us? Are you good friends with him?" Su Xiyang asked Shen Fanyun.
"I’m just riding on someone else’s coattails," Shen Fanyun denied. "I only came to join in on the fun. How could a titan like him possibly know us?" He added, "He wasn’t standing up for us. Xu Bingqing’s behavior was just too shameless. No host would ever tolerate something like that."
Su Xiyang considered it and had to agree. If she were the host and some uninvited stranger started trying to kick out her actual guests, she’d be furious too.
"Oh, I forgot something important," Su Xiyang suddenly realized, unconsciously squeezing her legs together. She hesitated for a moment before deciding to ask for help at the front desk.
Shen Fanyun was puzzled. "What is it?"
"Um... my Aunt Flo is visiting," Su Xiyang said, her face growing warm. The feeling was getting stronger, and if she didn’t deal with it soon, her pants would be stained.
"Your aunt?" Shen Fanyun asked, astonished. "What, your aunt is attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony today too? Where is she?"
Su Xiyang was speechless. They were completely talking past each other. What on earth is he talking about? she thought, annoyed, and shot him a fierce glare.
"Just cover for me. We’re going to the front desk," Su Xiyang said, grabbing Shen Fanyun’s arm and pulling him close to shield her from view.
Shen Fanyun noticed Su Xiyang was walking strangely, like a clumsy scarecrow with uncoordinated limbs. Her movements were incredibly awkward.
"Oh, I get it now," he said, finally realizing what was wrong with her.
"What are you shouting about?" Su Xiyang snapped, glaring at him.
"Ah," Shen Fanyun sighed again. Does this mean for the next seven days, while facing the stunning Su Xiyang, I can only chant ’Amitabha,’ remain pure of heart, and dutifully keep my desires in check?
"Do you know what it means to run a red light?" he asked.
Su Xiyang knew he definitely wasn’t talking about traffic lights, but she still couldn’t understand. "What do you mean?"
A mischievous smile spread across Shen Fanyun’s face.
Su Xiyang was rendered speechless once more.
"Are you an animal? Even with this, you can’t let me rest for a few days? Run? Run?! Run, my ass!" she fumed. Her period really did change her temperament. She felt incredibly irritable, more so than ever, to the point that she was even cursing. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Upon reflection, Su Xiyang gritted her teeth. Why do I even bother satisfying Shen Fanyun’s whims? It’s not like we’re even a couple.
"If the answer’s no, it’s no. Why get so angry about it?" Shen Fanyun shrugged.
Su Xiyang couldn’t be bothered to respond. Just as she was about to head to the front desk to deal with her personal issue, her phone suddenly rang.
