After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 34, Beauty, Never Defeated by Time!
It was unclear how much time had passed. Su Xiyang finally escaped Shen Fanyun’s perverse sense of humor. She quickly got up, ran to the water dispenser, and gulped down several large mouthfuls of water, only to spit it all back out.
"Such a waste of a good tonic," Shen Fanyun said with a smile.
Su Xiyang whirled around, fixing Shen Fanyun with a murderous glare. Realizing he’d pushed his luck, Shen Fanyun decided not to taunt her any further.
"Shen Fanyun, don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’ve helped me a few times," Su Xiyang ground out through clenched teeth. "This is the last time. If there’s a next time... I’ll cut you off!"
"So vicious?" Shen Fanyun suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.
Su Xiyang sneered, "You’re welcome to try."
Try it and die!
Seeing that Shen Fanyun had finally quieted down, Su Xiyang huffily fastened her buttons and shooed him from the president’s chair back to the sofa. With nothing else to do, Shen Fanyun lay down for a while and actually fell asleep.
Su Xiyang seethed. This scoundrel really knows how to enjoy himself, in a way even she, the president, couldn’t hope to match.
A little while later, Su Xiyang received a call from her family asking her to come home early. She didn’t think much of it. Since things at the office were quiet, she simply packed her belongings, reluctantly said goodbye to Shen Fanyun, and left.
By now, Shen Fanyun was the Head of the Security Department and was held in high regard within the company. Everyone considered him a proper employee.
Shen Fanyun woke from his nap a little after five, just as the workday was ending. He grabbed his suit jacket and left.
The afternoon sun was pleasant. Shen Fanyun walked out of the building and stretched lazily toward the lingering sunset. The night is long... what to do tonight? Zhan Feng has been gone for a few days. I wonder if he’s busy with a new romance or if he’s just avoiding me.
"Mi-Minister," a cautious voice said from beside him.
It was Lin Jia. She was carrying a white cloth shoulder bag, her hands clasped tightly as she bit her lower lip.
Shen Fanyun smiled. "Is something wrong?"
"Um... I just wanted to thank you for today," Lin Jia said, her eyes welling with tears. "If it hadn’t been for you, I... I might have..."
This young woman has impressive mental fortitude. She’s recovering so quickly after such a major incident. A typical girl might have had a complete breakdown by now, or even thought about ending her own life.
"It’s nothing. A true man should always be chivalrous; it’s the right thing to do!" Shen Fanyun declared magnanimously.
Lin Jia couldn’t help but chuckle at Shen Fanyun’s posturing. He paused for a moment, then asked instinctively, "Are you really okay?"
Lin Jia shook her head and brandished her small, pink fists. "I was terrified at first," she said with conviction, "but in the end, nothing actually happened, right?"
Shen Fanyun could see that Lin Jia wasn’t just putting on a brave face but had truly recovered, and he finally relaxed.
"Minister, let me treat you to some candy," Lin Jia offered, pulling out a handful of White Rabbit Creamy Candies.
Shen Fanyun waved his hands in refusal. "Thank you, but I don’t really like sweets."
She’s in her twenties, but she carries around candy to hand out whenever she’s in a good mood... Isn’t that a bit childish?
"How can you not like something so delicious?" Lin Jia pouted, seeming dismayed at not having found a kindred spirit.
"If you were offering to treat me to a meal, however, I might reluctantly agree," Shen Fanyun said.
"Okay!" Lin Jia nodded, taking the initiative to invite him. "Would it be okay if I took you to the little restaurant my mom runs? I’m not bragging, but my mom’s cooking is incredible! I guarantee she’s no worse than the chefs at those big hotels!"
Shen Fanyun was amused. "Your family runs a restaurant?"
"It’s a tiny place, just enough to get by," Lin Jia said, a little embarrassed. She was worried Shen Fanyun wouldn’t be used to such a cramped environment, but her mother always kept it spotless.
"Alright, I’ll go experience your mother’s cooking firsthand," Shen Fanyun agreed. He had nothing better to do, and someone was offering him a free meal. Why not?
Lin Jia nodded firmly. "Okay."
When they arrived at Mama Lin’s restaurant, Shen Fanyun was still caught off guard. Lin Jia’s definition of "small" was vastly different from his own. The space was only a few square meters, furnished with just three old tables. There was no dedicated kitchen; the cooking station was set up right on the street. Despite the setup, a single glance was enough to see that the place was clean and sanitary.
"Mama!" Lin Jia called out happily.
The woman in the apron smiled warmly without even looking up. "Jiajia, you’re back. Was work tiring today?"
"Not at all." Lin Jia put down her canvas bag, rolled up her sleeves, and went to the washing sink. "I’ll help."
She was a woman in her early forties, and the years had left their share of wrinkles on her face. Even so, her features, bone structure, and the natural elegance in her movements were proof that she was a true beauty.
No wonder Lin Jia is so pretty and pure. She gets it from her mother!
Furthermore, Lin Jia’s mother was at least 1.7 meters tall with a voluptuous figure. Even her loose clothing couldn’t conceal her spectacular curves.
Some young men are always infatuated with the innocence and naivety of young girls. Few of them realize, however, that mature women are the true connoisseur’s choice. They are more knowledgeable, more experienced, and understand men even better than men understand themselves. Often, a single glance from a man is all it takes for her to know exactly how to carry herself to appeal to him.
"Mama, our company has a new minister who is incredibly righteous. He’s so kind and competent," Lin Jia chatted happily with her mother. Her face lit up with a smile, and for some reason, she grew excited just mentioning Shen Fanyun’s name.
A second later, Lin Jia froze and exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! I completely forgot about you!"
She slapped her forehead, muttering about her own foolishness. She couldn’t believe she’d brought someone all the way here only to forget about him completely once they arrived.
Lin Jia hurriedly introduced Shen Fanyun to her mother. "This is Minister Shen from our company. I invited him home for dinner today.
"Mama, you have to show him your best dishes! I told him your cooking is second to none, so don’t let me down!"
Mama Lin quickly put down her work, wiped her hands clean, and came out to greet Shen Fanyun with a smile. "Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you."
"Please, don’t worry about me, Auntie. Just carry on with your work," Shen Fanyun said.
Mama Lin shook her head, her voice soft and measured. "How could I do that? You’re Jiajia’s colleague, so I must be a good host. That’s just basic courtesy."
With that, she invited Shen Fanyun inside and poured him a cup of tea.
Shen Fanyun marveled internally. What a gentle and beautiful woman. Her voice is especially lovely—so soft and sweet. She isn’t from Hangcheng City, is she? 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"You can sit here for a bit. I’m going to help my mom; it’s getting busy with dinner customers," Lin Jia said to Shen Fanyun.
Shen Fanyun nodded and smiled to himself as he watched the mother-daughter pair—one youthfully innocent, the other gracefully mature.
