After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 23: Who is the Real Frog in the Well?!
Chen Feng raised his head, glaring at Shen Fanyun with the same predatory intensity.
As the saying goes, adversaries often cross paths.
Chen Feng harbored a deep resentment toward Shen Fanyun for exposing him and was just looking for a chance for revenge. To his surprise, Shen Fanyun suddenly appeared right before his eyes. This was a heaven-sent opportunity, and Chen Feng certainly didn’t want to miss it.
"Kid, not many people in Hangcheng City dare to make me, Chen Feng, suffer a setback," Chen Feng sneered. "You’ve succeeded in making me remember you."
Unfortunately for him, such threats were utterly boring to Shen Fanyun.
This guy clearly isn’t well-read. He just repeats the same few phrases over and over, like ’you’ve messed with me,’ and ’you’re in big trouble.’ What a limited vocabulary.
Shen Fanyun couldn’t be bothered to respond. He walked over to the lobby’s sofa area and started boredly scrolling through his phone. He had nothing to do anyway. He would just have to wait for Su Xiyang to get off work and see if he could find some fun then.
About half an hour later, Old Master Su, Su Ziye, Su Xiyang, and the other Su family members finally ambled downstairs.
Su Ziye was brimming with self-importance. A gloating, triumphant expression was plastered on her face, and she strutted about with her chest puffed out like a victorious little chick.
Su Xiyang, on the other hand, looked gloomy and seemed to have a lot on her mind. Still, she did her best to put on a positive face and greet her grandfather. He was her elder, her own grandfather at that. She wouldn’t dare to show him any disrespect, not in a million years.
"Xiaofeng, sorry to keep you waiting!" Old Master Su smiled, his fondness for Chen Feng clearly bone-deep.
Chen Feng said, "No problem at all. It just so happens I’m not busy today. It’s my honor to be able to accompany you for a walk, Old Master."
Old Master Su’s smile grew even wider, his liking for Chen Feng increasing with every glance.
"It’s about time we get ready for dinner," Chen Feng announced. "I’ve booked a table at the Yunxiao Hotel. Shall we head out now?"
His shocking statement left everyone present dumbfounded.
Su Ziye thought she had misheard. "Chen Feng, you’re not pulling our leg, are you? The Yunxiao Hotel?"
"That’s right," Chen Feng replied with a smile, his hands tucked into his pockets.
Many company employees and other visitors who were coming and going looked over at Chen Feng curiously, their faces filled with envy and awe.
"Yunxiao is one of Hangcheng City’s most exclusive hotels, an undisputed landmark. Ordinary people can’t even get in the door."
"I wonder which young master is planning on splurging at Yunxiao?"
"I’ve heard the Yunxiao Hotel is decorated like a palace. It’s a pity that ordinary folks like us will probably never get to see the inside of it in our entire lives."
The crowd buzzed with discussion, their voices full of longing whenever Yunxiao was mentioned. Clearly, the Yunxiao Hotel’s prestige and fame were deeply ingrained in the minds of Hangcheng City’s residents.
"Xiaofeng, isn’t this too extravagant?" Old Master Su asked, looking uneasy. The Yunxiao was not just high-end; its prices were astronomical.
"It’s a tremendous honor to treat you, Old Master. How could I possibly worry about the cost?" Chen Feng replied. "You’re the one giving me face by accepting. I, Chen Feng, couldn’t be more grateful."
"Grandpa, see how thoughtful our Chen Feng is?" Su Ziye sidled up and clung to Chen Feng’s right arm, planting a coquettish kiss on his cheek.
"Indeed. You’re very lucky to have met such an outstanding young man," Old Master Su said with feeling.
Su Xiyang stood at the back, silent the entire time. In the past, the name "Yunxiao" might have surprised her. But now? Her heart remained completely placid. After all, she had already witnessed the hotel’s splendor firsthand and had even stayed in its most exclusive, hardest-to-book presidential suite.
"Since it’s decided, shall we get going?"
Since Chen Feng had invited the entire Su family, Su Xiyang was naturally included. Everyone was very excited, perhaps a little too eager to experience the grandeur and brilliance of the Yunxiao Hotel.
However, at that crucial moment, Chen Feng casually pointed a finger at Shen Fanyun, who was sitting not far away on a sofa with his legs crossed. "What about..."
Su Ziye immediately scowled. "That guy is disgusting. Don’t bring him!"
"But he is Xi Yan’s boyfriend, after all. We can’t treat him like a complete outsider; we still have to be polite."
By this point, almost everyone in the Su family had accepted that Shen Fanyun was Su Xiyang’s boyfriend. Their relationship was close, yet ambiguous.
Su Ziye immediately understood Chen Feng’s true intention. He wanted to bring Shen Fanyun along just so he could find an opportunity to thoroughly humiliate him.
He definitely doesn’t have good intentions, inviting Shen Fanyun to a place like that. As if a low-life like Shen Fanyun is worthy of setting foot in the exclusive world of the upper class!
"He doesn’t need to come. He has other things to do today," Su Xiyang said, decisively refusing on Shen Fanyun’s behalf. She didn’t want to complicate things. It wasn’t that she was worried Shen Fanyun would be treated unfairly. Rather, the man was so brutish she was afraid he might end up embarrassing the whole Su family.
Just then, Shen Fanyun walked over.
"What’s everyone chatting about?" he asked with a casual smile, unconcerned about whether his presence was welcome.
"We’re going to the Yunxiao for dinner. Ever heard of it? It’s a place that poor trash like you could never get into in your entire life!" Su Ziye said arrogantly.
"Are you coming?" Chen Feng asked Shen Fanyun with feigned kindness.
Before Shen Fanyun could answer, Chen Feng added, "Don’t worry, it’s my treat. You won’t have to spend a dime.
"But let me give you a heads-up. The Yunxiao is no ordinary hotel. Once you’re inside, no matter how shocked or excited you get, you’re not to touch a single thing.
"I’ve heard that the paintings in the hallways are priceless masterpieces. If you get twitchy fingers and decide to touch one, don’t expect me to bail you out!"
His words seemed like a kind reminder, but they were dripping with contempt for Shen Fanyun.
Su Xiyang had assumed Shen Fanyun wouldn’t deign to bicker with Chen Feng, nor would he have any interest in sitting at the same table with him.
To her surprise, Shen Fanyun nodded on the spot. "Alright!"
"Well, look at you, being so obedient," Su Ziye scoffed. Hearing Shen Fanyun agree filled Chen Feng with a sense of accomplishment and superiority.
"Fine. I’ll take you to see the real world, lest you remain an arrogant, ignorant frog in a well."
Chen Feng signaled for everyone to get a move on.
"Keep an eye on this so-called boyfriend of yours. If he makes a mess and causes trouble for Xiaofeng, I will hold you responsible," Old Master Su said sternly to Su Xiyang.
"Why are you going?" Su Xiyang whispered to Shen Fanyun when no one was paying attention.
Shen Fanyun replied, "Isn’t it on the way?"
Only then did it dawn on Su Xiyang that Shen Fanyun had a long-term reservation for the presidential suite at the Yunxiao Hotel. Then again, she had always thought he was just bluffing.
"That presidential suite... if I remember correctly, the room rate alone is over a hundred thousand a day, right?" Su Xiyang’s mind went blank, finding the whole thing completely surreal.
Spending over a hundred thousand a day on a hotel? Even with all the money in the world, who could afford to splurge like that? It’s insane!
