After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 177: Just Torture Me to Death!
After their lovemaking ended, Shen Fanyun quickly dressed Lin Meiqing and took her to the hospital.
"I’m so sleepy," Lin Meiqing yawned incessantly, her expression lethargic.
Once the examination was over, the diagnosis came back as acute gastroenteritis. The doctor was surprised, noting that given a normal person’s pain tolerance, she shouldn’t have waited so long to come in. The doctor immediately had Lin Meiqing admitted and prepared the hospitalization forms. Shen Fanyun chose a private room for her, which was followed by an IV drip, painkillers, and constant observation.
Perhaps realizing she had taken things too far, Lin Meiqing had quietly pulled the blanket over her head by the time Shen Fanyun returned from completing all the procedures.
"You were in that much pain, and you still endured it? Weren’t you afraid something terrible would happen?" Shen Fanyun reflected with deep regret. I’m no better than a beast. How could I have the heart to lay my hands on a sick person?
"I’ll know for next time," Lin Meiqing giggled. Seeing that Shen Fanyun wasn’t angry, she peeked her head out from under the blanket and winked playfully at him.
"Are you feeling any better now?" Shen Fanyun asked.
Lin Meiqing nodded obediently. "Much better."
"By the way, how long do I have to stay? I still need to make dinner for Jiajia tonight," Lin Meiqing said, thinking she could probably go home after her IV drip was finished.
"You’re staying overnight," Shen Fanyun stated. "I’ve already notified Lin Jia, and she’ll be here soon. As for dinner, she’s a big girl. She can fend for herself or eat at the hospital cafeteria."
In the middle of their conversation, a frantic Lin Jia rushed into the hospital room.
"Mom, are you okay?" Lin Jia was on the verge of tears. In her memory, this was the first time her mother had ever been hospitalized. The sight of Lin Meiqing’s pale face, clad in the blue-and-white-striped hospital gown, was an unbearably painful one.
"I’m fine," Lin Meiqing reassured her.
Lin Jia wasn’t convinced. Only after speaking with the doctor and confirming that it was just common gastroenteritis did she finally breathe a sigh of relief.
"Why didn’t you call me the moment you felt unwell?" she asked, sitting in a chair and panting as she tried to calm herself. "Do you have any idea how panicked I was when the Minister suddenly told me you were in the hospital?" Then, a realization seemed to dawn on her. If Mom was feeling unwell, why did she contact Shen Fanyun first? And since when did Shen Fanyun have her contact information?
A strange atmosphere descended upon the room. Shen Fanyun also sensed he had handled the situation poorly. If Lin Jia sees through my relationship with her mother, will she be able to accept it? Will she be traumatized? This is a tricky problem. How can I get Lin Jia to accept this in the future? Or... maybe I should just take them both?! Hmm? Wouldn’t that make me worse than a beast? Shen Fanyun, oh Shen Fanyun, you absolutely cannot do that!
"COUGH, COUGH. I’m going out for a smoke," Shen Fanyun said, using the excuse to slip away.
Lin Jia stared at Lin Meiqing with a baffled expression. Lin Meiqing simply raised an arm to shield her face, muttering, "The sunlight outside is so bright."
"Do you want some water?" Lin Jia asked her mother.
Lin Meiqing hummed in agreement and tried to sit up. But after lying flat for so long with the IV, coupled with her already weakened body, she almost couldn’t manage it.
"Don’t move! I’ll get it, I’ll get it," Lin Jia said, her heart aching. In all her life, she had never seen her mother look so frail. Moreover, she noticed faint crow’s feet starting to appear at the corners of her mother’s eyes, almost imperceptible. So, people really do get old. For a moment, Lin Jia felt an even deeper pang of sadness as pearl-sized tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Silly child, why are you crying? It’s not like I’ve been diagnosed with a terminal illness," Lin Meiqing said, bemused, as she reached out to wipe the tears from Lin Jia’s face. "I really wasn’t feeling well today. I thought about calling you, but I was worried I’d disturb you at work. Then, in a daze, I remembered how Xiao Shen told me to find him if I ever had any trouble, and I happened to have his number, so..."
Lin Jia nodded. "Oh, so that’s what happened."
"I wasn’t wrong about him. The Minister is so warm-hearted and always willing to help," Lin Jia said, her eyes shining whenever she mentioned Shen Fanyun.
Lin Meiqing was an old hand at life; she recognized that look instantly.
"Do you like him?" she asked directly.
"Ah?" Lin Jia faltered, a blush unconsciously creeping onto her cheeks as she chose to remain silent.
Lin Meiqing slapped her own forehead, feeling a wave of dizziness.
"Mom, what’s wrong?" Lin Jia asked with concern.
"It’s nothing. I just need to rest," Lin Meiqing said, taking the opportunity to lie back down. "Later, you can get us some dinner from the hospital cafeteria. You’ll have to stay and rest here tonight. I’m not comfortable with you going home alone." After all, it was a private room, and it came with a bed for a companion.
Luckily, Lin Meiqing had a good constitution. After a day of IV fluids and recuperation, she had mostly recovered.
「The next day」
Lin Jia went to work reluctantly. She had wanted to take the day off, but Lin Meiqing insisted it wasn’t necessary. Unable to win the argument, Lin Jia had no choice but to comply.
At nine o’clock, Shen Fanyun paid a visit.
The nurse had already removed the IV tube. Lin Meiqing flexed her arm, feeling much lighter, and her complexion had regained its rosy hue.
"Come sit here," Lin Meiqing gestured for Shen Fanyun to sit beside her on the bed.
Shen Fanyun touched her forehead, confirming that she was indeed fine.
Before he could say a word, Lin Meiqing suddenly grabbed his hand, tucked it under the blanket, and held it against her chest. "Nice and warm," she giggled.
Shen Fanyun was speechless. Large, round, and definitely warm. Besides, with Lin Meiqing in her blue-and-white-striped hospital gown, looking so gentle and sophisticated... why does this feel like some kind of roleplay scenario?
"Does Jiajia like you?" Lin Meiqing asked, bringing up the topic again.
Shen Fanyun was surprised. Why is she asking this all of a sudden? He shrugged, his expression relaxed. "Jiajia is still young. She doesn’t understand all that mushy stuff about love. It’s just a simple crush. When she meets someone she truly likes one day, she’ll understand."
"Do you want to get in? The discharge papers haven’t been processed yet, so we have plenty of time!" Lin Meiqing changed the subject with lightning speed. She winked at him, a deeply suggestive smile playing on her lips.
Seeing Shen Fanyun’s hesitation, she simply threw back the covers and pulled him into the bed. At once, a fragrant scent washed over him, and he discovered a new world. At some point, Lin Meiqing had unbuttoned her hospital top. With her quickened breaths, the exposed swells of her chest rose and fell like surging waves.
"You’re going to be the death of me," Shen Fanyun muttered. He slid one arm under her neck to prop her up, while his other hand began to thoroughly enjoy the beautiful scenery beneath the blanket.
Lin Meiqing turned her head and bit his earlobe, her soft tongue teasing him wantonly.
Aroused, Shen Fanyun suggested with a playful grin, "How about you go on the bottom?"
