After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 164: Nothing but Snobbish Relatives!
For the next two days, Shen Fanyun stayed at home. He hadn’t slept so soundly in years. Every morning when he opened his eyes, breakfast was ready and his toiletries were prepared. Of course, if he felt like sleeping in a little, he would be subjected to Qin Lian’s grumbling. For a moment, it felt as if he had returned to his student days.
"You were never this lazy in school, were you? When did you ever sleep past seven?" Qin Lian asked with a smile as they talked about his school days.
Naturally, there was a small regret. If not for the incident with the Han Family, Shen Fanyun’s grades would have gotten him into a very good university, and he would have landed a decent job. Looking at the wall full of awards and honor certificates Shen Fanyun had earned during his school years, Qin Lian sighed wistfully.
"Things are pretty good now," Shen Fanyun comforted her.
Qin Lian nodded slightly, her mood improving.
"How about I buy you two a house?" Shen Fanyun offered.
"Why buy a house?" Qin Lian didn’t want him to spend money unnecessarily. On one hand, although their current place was a bit old, the environment and facilities were perfectly adequate. Moreover, they were at an age where it didn’t make sense to go through such a major upheaval. With that kind of money, it would be better for Shen Fanyun to keep it for himself. But then again, he casually spent six or seven million on a car for Shen Bufan... Buying a house seems almost effortless for him.
"How much money do you actually have?" Qin Lian asked, immensely curious, but she regretted the words as soon as they left her mouth. It was better not to pry into such personal matters.
Shen Fanyun didn’t overthink it. "It’s enough to last a lifetime."
"We’re free today anyway, so let me take you to see some new houses."
Ultimately, Qin Lian couldn’t refuse Shen Fanyun’s persistence and agreed. However, she herself had no real desire to buy a house. More than anything, she just wanted to take this opportunity to go out and spend time with her son.
In recent years, Hangcheng City had developed nicely. With strong government support, housing prices had skyrocketed. From an initial three to five thousand per square meter, the average price had soared to thirty thousand in less than a decade. For an ordinary person, a home costing upwards of three million was truly unaffordable.

Shen Fanyun, Qin Lian, and Shen Zheng had just stepped inside when a salesperson greeted them with a professional smile, ready to assist them.
Because this was the second phase of the development, the number of prospective buyers was only average. However, as the old saying goes, the more humble the temple, the fiercer the demons; the shallower the pond, the more scoundrels you find. Ironically, in this unassuming place, they ran into someone they knew. Even to Shen Fanyun, it felt like too much of a coincidence.
"Sis?" Shen Zheng was the first to notice.
Shen Fanyun looked up and saw a flamboyantly dressed woman. She turned, looking bewildered and annoyed as she sized up Shen Zheng and Qin Lian.
"You... you people?"
It was none other than Shen Zheng’s own older sister, Shen Su.
Shen Su waved a hand dismissively, her face a mask of disdain. She muttered something under her breath, and her gaze fell on Shen Fanyun. She hesitated, then unconsciously took a step back as if avoiding the plague, afraid that being too close to Shen Fanyun might jinx her.
Last night, Shen Zheng had called Shen Su. He thought it would be nice for the family to get together more often and suggested they should have a meal together if she was free. He had also mentioned that Shen Fanyun was back home. So, even if Shen Su didn’t recognize Shen Fanyun at first glance, she knew who he was.
"Heh, so you’re here to look at houses too," Shen Su said with a clear sense of detachment, her discomfort and resistance obvious in the face of Shen Zheng’s eagerness.
"The kid insisted. If it were up to me, why buy a house at our age?" Shen Zheng beamed. He might have been saying they didn’t need it, but he was quite happy inside. Whether we buy it or not, at least my son is this thoughtful!
"Oh? The houses here aren’t cheap, you know. At least five million for one. Can you... can you people afford it?" Shen Su suddenly blurted out, "You’re not biting off more than you can chew, are you?"
Shen Zheng, who had been all smiles, froze, unsure how to respond.
Shen Su seemed to have a sudden realization. No wonder Shen Zheng, who hasn’t called me in years, gave me a ring out of the blue last night. So this was his real goal—to borrow money? To borrow money to buy a house for this long-lost eldest son of his? What a brilliant scheme!
"Let me make one thing clear," she declared. "I’ve certainly earned a fair bit over the years, but it’s all been hard-earned money. I don’t have any spare cash to lend you!
"Besides, even if I did lend it to you, it’d just be throwing good money after bad, wouldn’t it? How would you ever pay it back? Ugh, what rotten luck today. I must not have checked the almanac before leaving the house."
Shen Su waved her hand in front of her face as if speaking another word to Shen Zheng would make her physically ill.
Just then, a young man in a suit strolled in and called out from a distance, "Mom."
Shen Zheng recognized him as Shen Su’s son, Yuan Hua. It had been over a decade since they last met, but his appearance hadn’t changed much. He was still tall and thin.
"Yuan Hua, long time no see! You’ve grown so much," Shen Zheng greeted him warmly. He then pulled Shen Fanyun forward to introduce him. "This is my eldest son, Fanyun. You remember him, right? When you were little, you two often went fishing for fish and catching crabs together."
Remembering this, Shen Zheng couldn’t help but sigh at how quickly time had flown. It had been more than twenty years. The two little rascals were now grown men.
"Fanyun?" Yuan Hua was momentarily confused, wondering where these relatives had suddenly popped up from.
Shen Zheng then naively added that since they were young men and cousins, they must have a lot to talk about. He urged them to keep in touch and support each other in the future.
Shen Su was immediately on guard. She quickly strode over to Yuan Hua, pulled him behind her, and warned Shen Zheng fiercely, "There’s no need for them to be in contact."
"My Huahua is smart, capable, and an outstanding young man. He doesn’t need to associate with all sorts of riffraff."
"Besides, some people act like your best friend, all brotherly and nice, but the moment the time is right, they open their mouths to borrow money. Heh, I’ve seen plenty of people like that."
Shen Su brought up borrowing money again, acting as if every word from her own brother was part of a premeditated plot with impure motives.
"Uh, Sis, I think you’re misunderstanding," Shen Zheng tried to explain.
But Shen Su cut him off with a wave of her hand. "Alright, alright."
"We have things to do this afternoon. I’m not going to waste any more time chatting with you."
Shen Su turned, took Yuan Hua’s hand, and started to leave.
Shen Zheng opened his mouth, but no words came out.
At that moment, Shen Fanyun finally spoke. "Let’s just look at the properties. I recall they have some large flats here, about ten million for a cash purchase. If it’s suitable, we can settle on it today."
Shen Su froze.
Having already reached the doorway, she stopped dead in her tracks upon hearing those words. The expression on her face became utterly priceless.
Since when had the Shen Family become so wealthy?
