After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 141, You Make Me Feel So Good!
"He likes you," Shen Fanyun said succinctly.
Su Xiyang smiled. "Plenty of people like me."
This was true. Su Xiyang had never lacked admirers, especially after she started working. They ranged from greasy middle-aged men and talented young elites to old classmates and youths from ordinary backgrounds—she had seen them all. It was only recently, when the news about Wang Yanwen broke, that this crowd finally gave up. Now that Wang Yanwen was living and settled abroad, a group of die-hards had started trying to get close to her again.
"Unfortunately, I accidentally boarded a pirate ship," Su Xiyang muttered to herself.
Reflecting on her recent experiences felt like a dream. She was, in fact, a very conservative girl, one who was deeply averse to being touched by men. Even with male friends she knew well, she always maintained a respectable distance. And yet... somehow, she had inexplicably gone to a seedy bar to drink, gotten completely wasted, and ended up in a hotel room with a man. Just like that, she had carelessly given away the chastity she had treasured for over twenty years.
Afterward, Su Xiyang felt a deep and lingering fear. I was lucky; I ran into Shen Fanyun. As we’ve gotten to know each other, I’ve started to feel like I didn’t get such a bad deal... But what if it hadn’t been him? What if some homeless, disheveled beggar had picked me up? Or a thug, or a greasy old man with yellow teeth... Su Xiyang couldn’t bear to imagine such a scenario.
Thank heavens for giving me a second chance. I won’t be so reckless again, Su Xiyang promised herself, glancing at Shen Fanyun. This guy... lecherous as he is, he’s getting easier on the eyes. Besides, he’s not just handsome, he’s also incredibly powerful. Every time... he makes me feel so good! Pah! What on earth am I thinking? She snapped back to reality, her face flushing red.
Su Xiyang hastily changed the subject. "Gu Feng is a sinister and calculating man. You should try not to provoke him, just to avoid more trouble."
"What do you mean, *I* shouldn’t provoke *him*?" Shen Fanyun shrugged.
It belatedly dawned on Su Xiyang that Gu Feng had clearly been the one to start the provocation.
"Ah, my mistake, my mistake. In any case, we should stay away from people like him. Our time is too valuable to be wasted on them."
Shen Fanyun nodded. Now that sounded more reasonable.
"I’ll try my best."
Su Xiyang fell silent. With Shen Fanyun’s personality, I’m genuinely worried. If Gu Feng doesn’t know what’s good for him and keeps poking the bear, Shen Fanyun might actually punch him to death. Oh well, everyone has their own fate.
"Someone’s approaching," Shen Fanyun noted.
It was a portly, middle-aged man. He had dark circles under his eyes, a clear sign of a life of indulgence in alcohol and women. He walked unsteadily, as if he might collapse at any moment.
Shen Fanyun watched in alarm. So that’s the result of no self-control. I’d better learn to manage my desires. He took it as a cautionary tale, though his gaze involuntarily drifted to Su Xiyang’s stunning figure. But with a beauty like this around, controlling myself is truly difficult. It’s tough being a man!
"Boss Zhang, long time no see," Su Xiyang said, taking the initiative to greet him.
His name was Zhang Lifeng, a partner from her previous company. On paper, they were partners, but in reality, after leveraging Su Ke’s connections to become a shareholder, he had done nothing but wait for his annual dividends—and even then, he would occasionally complain about the amount.
Su Xiyang had long wanted to kick this freeloader out. If Zhang Lifeng had invested capital when the company was first founded, she might have grudgingly accepted it; after all, the contributions of an early supporter shouldn’t be dismissed. However, Zhang Lifeng had been forced into the shareholder level by her grandfather’s decree only after the company had become profitable. Strictly speaking, he was parachuted in to reap the fruits of a victory he hadn’t earned.
Su Xiyang had always suspected that Zhang Lifeng was just a puppet for Su Ke, using his name to siphon off company dividends and funneling the large sums back to Su Ke. In that arrangement, Zhang Lifeng and Su Ke got rich while Su Xiyang was made the sucker.
"Xiaoyan, long time no see," Zhang Lifeng said with a smile, his large belly preceding him. Behind him stood a young woman in her early twenties. She was dressed gaudily and carried a tawdry air about her. Her only redeeming feature was her legs, which were long and slender, only a step down from Su Xiyang’s.
"I heard your new company has already opened for business," Zhang Lifeng asked.
Su Xiyang nodded. "It has."
"Why didn’t you hold a grand opening? I would have loved to come liven things up and show my support." He quickly revealed his true purpose. "How about this? I’ll stop by your company tomorrow. It’s about time we renewed our letter of intent."
"The dividend ratio can stay the same as before," he continued magnanimously. "We’ve been partners for so many years, I’m not going to take advantage of you!"
A sharp glint flashed in Su Xiyang’s eyes. So he really does want to keep freeloading! Before, I had to obey Su Ke’s arrangements to give my grandfather face. Now that I’ve cut ties with Su Ke completely, this Zhang Lifeng thinks he can just waltz in and collect dividends from my new company?
"Renew? Renew what?" Su Xiyang feigned ignorance.
Zhang Lifeng’s brow furrowed. "Xiaoyan, are you joking with me? Everyone knows that my contribution accounts for eighty percent of your company’s success. Now that you’ve established a new company, I, Zhang Lifeng, will naturally continue to work with you to make it bigger and stronger."
Su Xiyang sneered inwardly. Truly shameless people can be shameless without batting an eye, acting completely and utterly self-righteous.
"Eighty percent of the credit is yours? Who says?" she asked aloud.
Zhang Lifeng was momentarily speechless. "Su Xiyang, you clearly don’t understand my status and influence in the cosmetics industry. Are you planning to cut ties with me?" When the soft approach failed, he resorted to threats. "Believe it or not, with a single word from me, your new company won’t be able to stay in business."
Su Xiyang raised her champagne glass and toasted him from afar. "Actually, I don’t believe you."
Zhang Lifeng was speechless again.
"If you want to freeload, find someone else. But don’t mess with me," Su Xiyang emphasized, a gentle smile still on her face.
"Su Xiyang, do you have any idea what you’re saying?" Zhang Lifeng’s face soured as he glared at her. He knew how capable she was. For years, he had made a fortune off a small initial investment, with her acting as his personal cash cow. How could he possibly let her go?
"President Zhang, who is this woman? Talking to you with that tone, she has no respect at all," the woman beside him, Hu Yue, chimed in snidely.
Her comment, however, only earned her a sharp retort from Su Xiyang. "Considering your age, it can’t be easy letting a two-hundred-pound man lie on top of you, especially when you have to deal with his foul breath, can it?"
Hu Yue was left speechless.
So was Zhang Lifeng.
