After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 116: Whichever hand hits, paralyze that one!
Shen Fanyun carefully lifted Lu Feiyan’s chin.
Lu Feiyan tried to look away.
Five vivid red marks... Had someone forcefully slapped her? What a heavy hand. How could someone be so violent toward a girl?
"Does it hurt?" Shen Fanyun took out a wet wipe and gently cleaned the injury.
Lu Feiyan’s voice was barely a whisper. "It doesn’t hurt anymore."
"So, what exactly happened?" Shen Fanyun pressed.
Lu Feiyan bit her lip. She remained silent for a long time before shaking her head again, unwilling to reveal a single word.
"Are you worried about something?" Shen Fanyun could easily see that her silence wasn’t because she didn’t trust him. Quite the opposite—she didn’t want to bring him any trouble.
"Silly girl."
He continued, "It’s been over ten years. If I were still the same as before, trampled and humiliated by others, able only to powerlessly endure the harm, then what would be the point of my return?"
Times had changed. These days, for him, turning Hangcheng City upside down was a simple matter of a single thought.
The trouble Lu Feiyan had encountered was trivial to him.
"But this is Jinhai Records." Lu Feiyan was dispirited, still feeling it was better to avoid conflict.
"Do you think if you remain silent, they won’t come after you for compensation?" Shen Fanyun asked.
His words jolted her awake. Lu Feiyan had a sudden realization and proceeded to tell Shen Fanyun the entire story. At the same time, she found herself thinking that since this whole incident was Zheng Nan’s doing, perhaps the higher-ups at Jinhai Records would be impartial and grant her justice.
"He was the one who hit you?" Shen Fanyun raised an eyebrow.
Lu Feiyan nodded silently. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Shen Fanyun stood up and pulled Lu Feiyan to her feet.
"What are you doing?" she asked, surprised.
"Going to slap him back for you." Shen Fanyun’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. He was genuinely angry, and flames of rage flickered in their depths.
Lu Feiyan let out a small laugh. "The concert is already over by now. What’s the use of going? Zheng Nan has already left."
In that case, the brazen Zheng Nan would just get to enjoy one more day of freedom.
「The next day.」
Shen Fanyun personally made a trip to the Jinhai Records office in Hangcheng City. Zhan Feng, who hadn’t been seen for days, also made a rare appearance.
"Sir, do you have an appointment?" A man who appeared to be the lobby manager stepped forward to ask.
"I, Mr. Shen, have never needed an appointment to see anyone," Shen Fanyun stated.
Meanwhile, on the twenty-eighth floor of the building, Zheng Nan was sitting on the lap of a woman in her early forties, calmly drinking coffee.
He was still stewing over last night’s incident. In his experience, no woman he, Zheng Nan, had ever set his sights on had managed to escape his grasp.
"Sister Yun, our Jinhai Records isn’t some common market," he complained. "Signing contracts when they’re in a good mood and refusing to perform when they’re not? What do they take this place for? Especially these rookies who haven’t even debuted—they’re so audacious."
This woman, Xiao Yun, was one of the primary figures in charge of Jinhai’s Hangcheng City operations—a true high-level executive. Zheng Nan was a star she had personally groomed. Because of this, the two had a close relationship. With Xiao Yun’s backing, Zheng Nan enjoyed an exceptionally high status within the company. No one dared to provoke him; he was their undisputed top dog.
"Initially, I thought that little girl, Lu Feiyan, had a good voice and looks. I figured she was promising. Who would have thought she’d turn out to be such an insolent little wretch, with no respect for her seniors? And she even dared to upset my little darling. She must pay the price."
Xiao Yun righteously promised Zheng Nan that since Lu Feiyan had disregarded company rules, she could just wait to be sued for breach of contract.
"Sister Yun is the only one who cares enough to stand up for me," Zheng Nan smiled.
A rookie who hasn’t even debuted dared to disrespect him, their number one star? If he didn’t teach this bitch a lesson, wouldn’t anyone in the company soon feel they could step up and humiliate him?
Bai Tao had been standing by the doorway all this time.
"You’re Lu Feiyan’s agent," Xiao Yun said. "You’ll handle the compensation process."
"Understood," Bai Tao nodded.
Xiao Yun pulled a standard contract from her desk drawer, quickly wrote Lu Feiyan’s name on it, and handed it to Bai Tao. The company had a specialized legal department whose entire purpose was to sue unruly, rebellious newcomers who disrespected the company’s arrangements. Xiao Yun was well-practiced in this routine. Moreover, their success rate in these lawsuits was a shocking 90%. Over the years, the income from liquidated damages alone had become an astronomical sum.
"Director Xiao, rest assured, I will handle it well," Bai Tao said with a smile, nodding and bowing as he took the contract.
Just as he was about to leave...
BANG!
The office door was kicked open.
The sudden intrusion startled Xiao Yun, Zheng Nan, and Bai Tao.
An explosion?
"What’s going on?" Xiao Yun roared, gesturing for Zheng Nan to get off her lap as she glared furiously toward the entrance.
Shen Fanyun, dressed in a white suit, walked in nonchalantly, his left hand gently stroking the little finger of his right.
"Which one of you is Zheng Nan?" he asked.
Zheng Nan’s expression darkened. Staring at the unfamiliar face, he asked coldly, "Who are you? How dare you barge into Jinhai Company?" He craned his neck to shout, "Security! Where is security? What do we pay you for? To just let any random person walk in?"
He peeked outside and gasped. The hallway was littered with security guards, all of them sprawled on the floor, completely taken down.
Who in the world was this guy? As far as Zheng Nan could remember, he hadn’t offended anyone powerful recently.
Zhan Feng leaned in close to Shen Fanyun. "He’s Zheng Nan."
Shen Fanyun’s gaze turned icy.
Zhan Feng closed the distance in an instant. He grabbed Zheng Nan by the neck and slammed his head onto the office desk with a loud bang. Dazed and disoriented, Zheng Nan’s head throbbed with pain.
"Did you hit a girl last night?" Shen Fanyun asked indifferently. "Which hand did you use?"
Zheng Nan’s head cleared. So this was about Lu Feiyan. He couldn’t believe it. Jinhai Records hadn’t even started demanding the massive penalty fee from that bitch, yet she had the audacity to come looking for trouble.
And they dared to hit him? He was the number one star of Jinhai Records’ Hangcheng City branch, a celebrity with millions of fans. He was being beaten up on his own turf?
"So it was that bitch Lu Feiyan!" Zheng Nan snarled, a sudden rage boiling up inside him. "I haven’t even gone after her, and she has the nerve to push her luck with me again! Damn it, just you wait! I’ll make her pay a painful price!"
Shen Fanyun lost his patience. He ordered Zhan Feng, "Just pick one."
Zhan Feng drew a dagger from his belt. In one swift motion, he aimed it at Zheng Nan’s right palm and slammed it down. With a sickening thud, the blade pierced through flesh and bone, mercilessly pinning his hand to the wooden desk.
The room fell into a dead silence.
Zheng Nan stared in disbelief, his mind blank.
A moment passed before the so-called top star could even process what had just happened. A sharp dagger had been driven straight through his palm.
