After Bankruptcy, the Billionaire Asked Me to Marry Him!-Chapter 233: Can’t Even Find an Angle to Quibble
Ye Li’s afternoon nap was restless.
Her phone kept chiming intermittently.
At the studio, the overly dedicated designer and foreman sent pictures from time to time to confirm the desired effects with her.
Fu Yanci also added to the chaos.
[I’m so sleepy, Ah Li, the coffee they brewed here is terrible!]
[I didn’t sleep well last night, Ah Li.]
[Ah Li?]
[I’m working, and you’re taking a super long nap, Mrs. Fu. Do you think this is appropriate?]
Ye Li: ...
Half-asleep, she took a photo of her textbook and sent it to him to show she was focusing on her studies.
A second later, Ye Li heard her own face slap.
[Mrs. Fu indeed has extraordinary capabilities, able to understand even when looking at it upside down, respect!]
Opening the photo, she saw that the book was indeed upside down in the image.
If it had been just the book, one could argue that the photo was taken flipped.
However, she was literally holding the book in her hand.
There was no angle for an excuse.
Ye Li: !!!!
Seemingly afraid of annoying her further, Fu Yanci didn’t continue to tease her and directly called, "Ah Li, next Saturday is my sister’s birthday party. Can you come with me?"
Sister?
It dawned on Ye Li that Fu Yanci was referring to Fu Minghui. The sleepiness instantly vanished, leaving her brain momentarily blank.
She used to call someone ’Aunt,’ and now she has to call her ’sister’?
Really... how thrilling!
Thinking about that scene made Ye Li herself feel awkward, "Maybe... let’s not?"
Silence on the other end.
Ye Li quietly said, "How awkward, right?"
On the day Fu Yanci took her back to the Fu Mansion, all of the Fu Family rushed there except for Fu Minghui, Zhou Jinrui, and Zhou Hecchen.
That day she breathed a huge sigh of relief.
But Ye Li knew she couldn’t avoid it forever.
Even if she didn’t attend the birthday party, with the Spring Festival just around the corner, meeting the Fu Family, including Zhou Hecchen, at the Fu Mansion was inevitable.
"Alright..."
Better a short pain than a long one, Ye Li conceded, "I’ll go."
Hearing this, Fu Yanci’s voice relaxed, "Ah Li, when do you plan to come back? I’ll pick you up!"
She would need to oversee the renovations for the next few days.
She also needed to find time to accompany her mom. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
After identifying future work plans with Wan Mingyi at the studio on Monday, perhaps, maybe, she should be... ready by then?
"Monday?"
The moment the words left her mouth, she heard his breath hitch on the other end.
Ye Li murmured quietly, "Who was it that was mad and ignoring me, now suddenly in a hurry for me to come back? Fu Yanci, I’m going to stay a bit longer at my mom’s house, I’m not going to hurry back quickly."
She expected Fu Yanci to get angry, or perhaps as before, keep saying "Ah Li, I was wrong" until she gave in and agreed to come back.
But to her surprise, the man readily agreed, "Okay!"
"Ah Li, then go for it, strive to become my pride and glory soon... Don’t worry, I won’t hold you back! But Ah Li, whenever you’re tired or weary, remember to turn back, I will be right behind you!"
The man’s words were filled with emotion.
Ye Li paused, then smiled brightly, "Okay!"
After hanging up, a flicker of doubt passed through Ye Li’s eyes.
Could Fu Yanci know about her starting a studio?
On one hand, she felt Uncle Fu, being a Boss managing lots of things every day, probably wouldn’t know about her renting a small office space at Jingyue for her studio.
On the other hand, she felt there was more to his words.
Wondering for a while, the designer sent another reference image, and Ye Li brushed the thought aside.
When the door was knocked, Ye Li turned her head and called out, "Come in."
Aunt Lan entered with a beaming smile, "Xiao Li, you’ve got a courier, come down and sign for it!"
"Just sign it for me..."
Thinking it was a gift from Qin Chu from Ireland, Ye Li replied without turning back.
Catching Aunt Lan’s smile, she quickly realized the actual situation.
Downstairs, she saw the flowers sent by Fu Yanci along with some afternoon tea they had ordered.
The budding pink roses, nearly forming dewdrops on the petals.
Steamed by the villa’s heating system, they turned translucently dewy upon the petals.
There was also a greeting card from Fu Yanci amid the bouquet.
