Adventures of the last Wild Dragon-Chapter 227: To the Monolith
When Olivia collapsed to the floor the girls stood in silence for a moment, then slowly turned their gaze over towards Violet in her full dragon form towering over them in all of her glory.
Said dragon was looking distinctly away from the girls and gently shuffling her feet in embarrassed ammusement.
"Did you need to shock her into unconsciousness?" Luna asked her companion, a faint smile fighting to show up on her lips.
"Hey! It's not my fault that happened!" Violet tried to defend herself, only to be instantly shot down by Susan.
"Well given that she fainted as a direct result of you turning into your dragon form, I would say that it is, in fact your fault."
Violet huffed at that but didn't have a response to her words. Instead she just looked down at Olivia curiously. "Should someone try to wake her up?"
Luna replied then. "Meh let her rest up, I still need to finish up healing Rhyana anyway." Saying so she walked over the the petite dragon girl and placed her hand on her still pockmarked arm.
Rhyana let out a content sigh of relief as her icy healing spread over her, the burn marks rapidly healing and leaving pristine skin and scales behind.
Only when she was done with that did Luna wander over to Olivia, she crouched down and gently poked her cheek, getting no response she shook her shoulder slightly, finally getting a response as the warrior let out a groan and began to sit up.
"I had the strangest dream. I-I saw a dragon!" It was only then that she looked up and saw said dragon standing behind Luna and staring back at her curiously.
"Heya Olivia, try not to faint again alright?" Violet sweetly asked her.
Olivia for her part, managed not to faint once again. Instead she just stared at Violet in utter shock for several long seconds, long enough that Violet was beginning to get slightly uncomfortable at the intense stare she was receiving.
"Umm, Olivia? You there?" She awkwardly asked. That did seem to do the trick and snapped Olivia out of her stupor, the human scrambling to her feet only to bow down into a low bow of respect.
"I-I greet t-the Wild One!" She half shouted, refusing to raise her head. Violet let out a groan whilst Luna stifled a giggle.
"Urgh please no, just treat me like you always have done alright." Violet pleaded, whilst she did like receiving respect and adoration from others, it stoked her draconic pride quite a bit. She only felt uncomfortable when it happened from someone that she already knew and liked.
"B-but, but your a W-Wild Dragon! How c-can I not give respect?" She stuttered out, still refusing to exit her bow.
Violet squirmed at that and gave a pleading look at Luna, silently asking for her help. Letting out a soft chuckle her companion nodded and gently patted Olivia on her back.
"Hey it's alright Olivia, she doesn't want you to act like this. She much prefers a genuine friendship, and both she and I already view you as a friend. And between friends it's only awkward to bow and grovel."
Yet despite her words Olivia still seemed reluctant to exit her bow. Eventually Susan let out a sigh of her own and rose to her feet. "Alright il take it from here, you two go away for a minute, I'll have a chat with her and help sort things out." Saying so she shooed the giant lizard and leopard girl away as she approached Olivia.
Shrugging both girls acquiesced to Susan's request and moved over towards Rhyana. There Violet brought out an assortment of food and the 3 girls began to gorge themselves whilst Susan tried to talk some sense into the overly enthusiastic Olivia.
Eventually, almost an entire hour later, Susan walked back over to the girls with a still quite nervous Olivia following in her wake.
The human warrior shyly looked up at Violet, who currently was half curled into a ball with Luna relaxing against her whilst being wrapped up in her companions warmth. "S-sorry for earlier. I, umm I was not expecting you to be and-dragon. Or even a beast for that matter. Umm I hope that w-we can still be f-friends?"
As Olivia stumbled over her words Violet couldn't hold back her draconic grin, her long fangs showing. "Good! And yes we can still be friends, I would be sad if we couldn't be!"
Violet half expected a barrage of questions to then crop up from the girl, yet she instead remained silent, obviously still incredibly nervous after discovering that Violet was the legendary Wild Dragon. So Violet just huffed in amusement before changing the topic.
"Alright, well I think we have rested enough. Shall we continue on towards that monolith and see what we can find?" Saying so she nudged Luna up before a burst of purple light enveloped her as she shifted herself back into her humanoid form.
"Think I'll stay like this for now, might make it easier for you Olivia." She said with a grin as she watched Olivia's eyes go even wider.
Chuckling at that luma spoke up. "Yeah I think we should, don't want to still be outside when another one of those eclipses happened again. Probabally beat if we leave this floor before then."
Getting agreeing nosies from everyone at her words the girls gathered up and resumed their journey onwards.
They had around an hour of walking to go til they would reach the monolith, so they got right back to it. Moving at a steady pace in their usual formation. Olivia at the front being flanked by Rhyana and Luna, Susan was directly behind Olivia whilst Violet was then behind Susan.
They made good time in the vibrant but barren grassy hills. As they walked Rhyana posed a question to the girls. "Hey so do you think that green moon is the reason that these hills are so devoid of any kind of life? With creatures only able to survive when inside of one of the bosses 'arenas'?"
"Hmm that would make sense, it would be hard to imagine any regular beast being able to survive if they encountered such a hoard as what we just faced."
"That or the dungeon just didn't want any extra challenge on this floor past the bosses and eclipse." Violet replied, but she was inclined to believe that what Rhyana guessed was correct.
As the girls debated that theory, and proposed new and increasingly outlandish alternatives, they slowly closed in on the monolith.
It was a truly tall monument, easily surpassing 100 meters in height and probabally around 10-20 meters wide, it was a square construction, its flat black sides in a matte finish, seemingly absorbing all light that touched it.
They crested one final hill and could finally see the base of the monument.
Before it lay a structure, it was a large square building that had obviously seen better days. It's half collapsed roof attested to that fact, yet it was still a gran building.
A square construct with large stone columns supporting the 4 corners of the structure. The girls could easily see inside of the building and they saw a large sandy arena of sorts. Inside of which stood a singular figure.
It stood on two legs, had four arms and had a tail jutting out from its back. Its head was a blank mask of nothingness, better resembling a featureless obsidian mask than any normal face, except for the wide vertical mouth that was slightly opened revealing countless sharp teeth.
"Well, that looks like fun."
