Chapter 393: Chapter 392 Graduation Intentions

Zhao Meimei clinked glasses with Peng Hui and drank a mouthful of alcohol, "Back when Liu Wenjing was giving me a hard time, I didn’t even get mad. Honestly, I felt like I was just an intern, and she was a regular teacher, obviously more experienced than me. I should have been humbled and learned from her. After all, people are made of flesh and blood, if I treat her well, she’ll definitely treat me well too."

"Ugh!" Zhao Meimei burped, "But later I realized, what a load of crap! I was too naïve, thinking interpersonal relationships were so wonderful. I helped her grade assignments, prepare lessons, even draft tests. She had the nerve to copy my questions and made six mistakes, then wanted to pin the blame on me! She’s just shameless!"

Peng Hui said, "Old Xu didn’t make me do any work, but the problem is, she wouldn’t let me step onto the stage to give lectures! My first time teaching a class was such a mess, let’s not even go there. Meanwhile, she’s in the office gossiping with other teachers, saying this batch of interns is incompetent, especially Peng Hui, who’s not only stubborn but also slow. Standing in the classroom like a motionless vase, only good at looking pretty and deceiving people."

Peng Hui complained, "I’ve noticed that whenever middle-aged women see pretty and vibrant young beauties like me, they’re always filled with envy and jealousy, afraid that the newer waves will overshadow them!"

Qian Simeng laughed uncontrollably and said, "You two are something else! After four years of college, if neither of you becomes a teacher, what will you do?"

Zhao Meimei said without hesitation, "I’ll work as a secretary for my brother!"

Peng Hui chimed in, "I’ll follow Meimei and pull some strings, I’ll have her brother arrange a job for me too. How could he refuse the boss’s wife’s bestie!"

Zhao Meimei laughed, putting her arm around Peng Hui’s shoulder, "No problem. When you really can’t make it, come find me for help!"

The group laughed heartily together for a while. Then Peng Hui’s phone suddenly rang; she reached out to push it towards Zhao Meimei, "Meimei, hand me my phone."

Zhao Meimei leaned over to pass the phone and asked, "Little Flower? Who is it?"

Peng Hui answered casually while picking up, "My sister."

Qian Simeng asked, "What’s your sister’s name? Does it have ’Flower’ in it?"

Peng Hui picked up and said, "Sis."

Qian Simeng, not getting an answer, turned to Zhao Meimei and asked, "Do you know?"

Zhao Meimei said, "She’s called Peng Rui."

Qian Simeng suddenly realized, "No wonder she’s nicknamed Little Flower..."

Before she could finish, they suddenly heard Peng Hui shout, "What did you say?! How could this happen!"

Peng Hui struggled to sit up from the ground abruptly, knocking over some beer in the process. Zhao Meimei and Qian Simeng exclaimed in surprise and quickly searched for tissues.

Peng Hui stepped right into the spilled beer, the cold liquid soaking into her socks, chilling her to the bone, yet she remained unresponsive, just shouted into her phone, "Are you crazy? When did this happen?! What are we going to do now? No, stay at home, I’ll get a cab and come over now, I’ll go with you to the hospital."

Peng Hui ended the call, rushed to her bed without even putting on her slippers.

Zhao Meimei quickly reached out to catch her, but was a step too slow. Peng Hui grabbed the coat hanging on her bed, slipped it on without fastening it, and bent down to look for her shoes.

Zhao Meimei asked, "What happened? Peng Hui, where are you going?"

Peng Hui, frantic, said, "I’m about to lose my mind! My sister just called to say she’s pregnant!"

Peng Hui was so angry her eyes reddened, "What should we do! She’s already divorced! And now she says she’s pregnant, really! It’s driving me crazy!"

Zhao Meimei asked from the side, "Peng Hui, do you need us to go back with you?"

Peng Hui said, "No need, if I don’t come back tonight, Mengmeng, can you help submit a leave note to the teacher for me?"

Qian Simeng agreed and, along with Zhao Meimei, helped Peng Hui gather her belongings.

Peng Hui hurriedly grabbed her bag and rushed out of the dorm room, leaving Zhao Meimei and Qian Simeng looking at each other.

Qian Simeng asked, "Meimei, wasn’t Peng Hui’s sister divorced? How come she’s pregnant?"

Zhao Meimei sat back on the floor with her, "I don’t know."

Qian Simeng speculated, "Could it be that she rekindled her relationship with her brother-in-law?"

Zhao Meimei was stunned, "Is that possible?"

Qian Simeng shrugged, "Hard to say, otherwise, how else would she be pregnant?"

With one person missing, drinking lost some of its atmosphere. Zhao Meimei and Qian Simeng hastily finished their meal, tidied up, and Zhao Meimei stayed for a chat before heading home.

When Shi Yang got home, Zhao Meimei was sprawled out on the bed asleep. She had had a few beers at the dorm, and while she didn’t feel much then, on the way back home the cool breeze had made her slightly tipsy and sleepy.

Shi Yang leaned in close to Zhao Meimei and smelled the strong scent of alcohol.

Zhao Meimei was sleeping, her face flushed, curled up with a blanket, still in the clothes she had worn when she went out, looking uncomfortable.

Shi Yang shook Zhao Meimei gently, "Meimei, wake up, change your clothes before you sleep."

Zhao Meimei murmured, barely opening her eyes before closing them again.

Shi Yang sighed helplessly, picked her up, changed her clothes, and tucked her back into the blanket before getting up to change himself.

With Zhao Meimei asleep, Shi Yang didn’t bother cooking, grabbed something from the fridge, quickly ate, and headed to the study to check and send emails.

Shi Yang had just opened his computer when his phone rang. He glanced at it; it was a call from Xu Hongbin.

Shi Yang answered, "Hello, Xiao Xu."

Xu Hongbin said, "Mr. Shi, where are you?"

Shi Yang: "Just got home, got something?"

Xu Hongbin said, "I’ve just finished my work, I’m planning to head back to the city the morning after tomorrow. Are you and the missus free tomorrow evening? Let’s have dinner?"

Shi Yang was surprised, "You’re heading back the day after tomorrow? Didn’t you say you’d leave on Wednesday?"

Xu Hongbin: "I’m done with everything here in the provincial capital; I’m in a hurry to go back and transfer the place outside the store. I have a buddy who contacted me saying he’s interested in franchising, I need to secure him."

Shi Yang asked, "How’s this friend of yours like?"

Xu Hongbin summarized straightforwardly, "Not too bright but has money. Though surprisingly responsible, if things start rolling, he might even be better than me."

Shi Yang laughed, "Then let’s have dinner tomorrow evening; you set the time and place, then let me know."

Xu Hongbin agreed, "Alright, I’ll give you a call then."
