Adored by Him: My Blissful Days as the Girl Next Door-Chapter 376 - 375: Feminine Charm
Two main courses in the morning, one elective in the afternoon, then self-study.
Zhao Meimei pinched a fake note procured from Zhang Jiahui, asked Peng Hui and Qian Simeng to hand it in, and at noon, took a taxi straight to the hospital.
The hospital was crowded at noon; as soon as you enter the lobby, you can see people bustling about, either buying food and delivering meals for patients or visiting family members of patients.
Zhao Meimei glanced at the long line for the elevator and turned toward the stairwell.
As she was climbing up, she heard someone call her, "Meimei!?"
Zhao Meimei looked up and smiled, "Sister Xin!"
Zhang Xin had her long wavy hair tied back, her complexion seemed a bit haggard, and she wore a lotus-colored trench coat with a glimpse of black stockings below, looking down at Zhao Meimei in surprise, "What brings you here?"
Zhao Meimei quickly said, "My dad had appendicitis surgery, he’s hospitalized here."
Zhang Xin was stunned for a moment, "Really? Your dad’s hospitalized? Brother Chao didn’t even tell me."
Zhao Meimei asked, "Sister Xin, why are you at the hospital?"
Zhang Xin replied, "My grandpa is hospitalized too, on the third floor."
Zhang Xin walked down two steps to stand on the same level as Zhao Meimei, "Meimei, have you eaten lunch yet?"
Zhao Meimei shook her head, "No, school just finished, and I came straight here."
Zhang Xin linked arms with her, "Perfect, I haven’t eaten either. How about I treat you to lunch? Then I’ll come back with you to see your dad."
Zhao Meimei thought for a moment, "How about we first go see my dad? I need to check in with them."
Zhang Xin said, "That’s fine, then accompany me to my grandpa’s ward first, and then I’ll go with you."
Zhao Meimei readily agreed, "Alright."
Zhang Xin’s grandfather looked like a kind old man, very amiable. As soon as Zhao Meimei entered the ward, she received a warm welcome.
Zhao Meimei, with her sweet talk, left the ward with Zhang Xin holding a bag of candies and cookies that the old man insisted on giving her.
Zhang Xin also carried a few boxes of nutritional supplements from her grandpa’s ward, intending to give them to Zhao Dazhuang.
As they walked toward Zhao Dazhuang’s hospital floor, Zhang Xin reminded Zhao Meimei, "Don’t let it slip later that these gifts are borrowed; it won’t be good if your dad finds out."
Zhao Meimei readily agreed, casually saying, "Sister Xin, you really don’t need to do this; what’s for my dad ends up for me to eat."
Zhang Xin laughed out loud, wishing she could poke Zhao Meimei on the head, "Silly girl, why speak such blunt truths!"
Zhao Meimei laughed along, "What’s wrong with speaking the truth? You’re not an outsider."
Zhang Xin teased her, "Why am I not an outsider?"
Zhao Meimei responded instantly, "Brother Chao to me is like my own brother; you’re my sister-in-law, how can you be an outsider?"
Zhang Xin was delighted by her words, "Oh my, your little mouth is sweeter than honey; just for that, tell me what you want to eat later, and sis will buy it for you."
Zhao Meimei beamed, "Thank you, sis, you’re so good to me."
Zhang Xin took Zhao Meimei out for French cuisine; a dish of baked snails captivated Zhao Meimei, who ordered two plates. Not knowing the table etiquette, Zhang Xin taught her hands-on, making the meal an enjoyable experience for Zhao Meimei.
After dining, Zhang Xin drove Zhao Meimei back to the hospital.
As Zhao Meimei got out of the car, she asked through the window, "Sister Xin, aren’t you coming back to the hospital?"
Zhang Xin replied, "I’m going to shower and change before coming back."
Zhao Meimei waved goodbye to her and walked alone back into the hospital. When she returned to the ward, her mom and dad were chatting while watching TV. Upon seeing her come back, her mom asked, "What did you eat?"
Zhao Meimei replied excitedly, "French cuisine! I ate snails, foie gras, and something else; I didn’t remember the names, but the snails were the best."
Liu Xiue and Zhao Dazhuang listened and laughed.
Zhao Dazhuang asked, "Zhang Xin’s family seems well-off, right? What do her parents do?"
Zhao Meimei thought for a while and said, "Not sure about her mom, but her dad seems to be a mall manager or something; I haven’t asked specifically, but she usually drives herself; the car that brought me back was an Audi."
Liu Xiue and Zhao Dazhuang weren’t car enthusiasts but knew that owning an Audi suggests a wealthy family. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Liu Xiue remarked, "Zhang Xin is pretty, and her family is well-off; Chaozi sure is lucky."
Zhao Meimei casually asked, "Mom, you also think Sister Xin is pretty?"
Liu Xiue said, "Yes, not only is she good-looking, but she also has a feminine charm."
Feminine charm?
Zhao Meimei asked, "Mom, how can you tell she has feminine charm?"
Liu Xiue replied, "From her dress, demeanor, and behavior, you can tell."
Zhao Meimei got interested and kept asking, "Really? Mom, tell me, how can one have feminine charm?"
Liu Xiue understood what she was getting at and laughed, "Certainly not you; you’ve been a wild girl since you were little."
Zhao Meimei was displeased, "I was young and clueless; how come I don’t have feminine charm now?"
Zhao Dazhuang chimed in, "Who says our Meimei doesn’t have feminine charm? Don’t listen to your mom."
Zhao Meimei knew her dad was just trying to humor her.
In the evening, Zhang Xin made a point to visit again, bringing durian puffs meant for her grandpa.
Zhao Meimei had always thought Zhang Xin was pretty but never paid attention to what feminine charm truly meant. Among her friends, none had conspicuous feminine allure.
Being mindful now, Zhao Meimei clearly understood what it means to portray profound feminine charm.
Zhang Xin had gone home to change clothes; since she was moving around the hospital, she didn’t wear outer garments, just a long-sleeved beige dress with black tights and high heels that revealed her feet. As she walked, her calves tensed into an arc, making her legs appear long and attractive.
Her skin was very fair, seemingly covered in a layer of moonlight, and when she smiled, her lips curved slightly with her eyes reflecting a hint of moisture.
Zhao Meimei looked down at her own attire, which was styled based on fashion magazines, with a ruffled top, jeans, and sneakers; it was cute and fashionable but lacked the captivating feminine grace she admired.
