Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 281: Scoundrel
After realizing he had no chance, Jack sensibly shifted from being Zane’s fanboy boyfriend to a loyal fan, at least in front of Zane.
When Natalie followed Jack into the makeup room, Jack snorted villainously.
"If it weren’t for the fact that you’re good-looking and match with Zane, I wouldn’t even bother styling you."
Natalie: ...
Has the trend of talking tough turned into backhanded compliments now?
"Thank you for saying I’m pretty."
Jack: ...
"How did you get with Zane?"
Zane has a rugged look that’s appealing to both men and women, so it’s no surprise Jack has had a crush on him for five years.
Natalie noticed that Jack still seemed a bit unwilling, so she decided to hit him with another blow.
"It was Zane who came after me; he fell for me at first sight."
Jack: ...
"Impossible!"
"Why not? If you don’t believe me, then go ask him yourself."
Jack: ...
"Forget it then."
To avoid asking for trouble.
However, after this little back-and-forth, Jack let go of his dissatisfaction with Natalie, and because Natalie showed a bit of thorniness, Jack gave her a stunning makeover.
Natalie already had beautiful almond-shaped eyes, clear and bright like the brightest stars in the night sky. With just a slight smile, her eyes would overflow with charm. Just a subtle curl of the lips, and her noble aura naturally radiated.
Coincidentally, Jack chose a red strap dress for Natalie.
Right to Zane’s taste.
Looking at Natalie in the mirror, if Jack was initially a bit resistant, now seeing Natalie’s appearance crafted by his hands, he couldn’t help but exclaim.
"No wonder Zane likes you."
Natalie didn’t expect she could transform into what she looked like now.
Jack simply put her hair up, revealing her neck, simple yet elegant, and thanks to the detailed makeup, it was impossible to take one’s eyes off her face.
As expected of Kensingport’s number one stylist, with just a few strokes, he brought out her advantages.
"Come on, stand up so I can have a good look."
The strap dress was tailored to fit, perfectly outlining Natalie’s waistline, and with a touch of red lipstick, it brought out a cold and proud side of her. The sequin strap design added a mysterious, modern Eastern beauty, as if she stepped straight out of a movie.
Jack circled around Natalie, unable to stop clapping in admiration.
"This Bartery dress that was sitting here finally found its rightful owner."
Natalie was slightly surprised.
"This was designed by Bartery?"
"Yeah, he designed it two years ago, reportedly for someone, but it was never revealed to the media, so it’s normal you didn’t know."
Two years ago...
"For whom?"
"That I don’t know, but it’s said to be a Cinnabar woman."
Upon hearing this, Natalie’s eyes flashed, and she took out her phone to snap a picture of herself which she sent to Bartery, that old man who’s always on social media, responded almost instantly.
"You went to Jack’s place?"
"Teacher, I heard this dress was designed by you for a Cinnabar woman; could that fortunate woman be me?"
"...I was actually planning to have Jack throw that dress away this year." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
In other words, if Natalie hadn’t come to Kensingport for further studies, Bartery would have indeed been heartbroken.
Natalie quickly typed a flurry of praises, layered with every flowery phrase she could muster, finally helping the old man release two years of pent-up grievance.
Jack was a bit curious.
"Who are you chatting with? Shouldn’t you rush out and show Zane now?"
Natalie put down her phone.
"With my teacher."
"Who’s your teacher?"
"Bartery."
Jack: ????? What did he just hear?
Natalie, holding up her dress, was just about to walk out when she heard a commotion outside. Natalie raised an eyebrow and glanced at Jack, whose face had already fallen as he quickly went out.
The arrival had brazenly sat on the sofa, with his female companion shamelessly seated on his lap, hands wandering to unspeakable places.
Jack was so furious his face turned pale, pointing at the couple on the sofa.
"Get out of here."
The arrival was named Danny, Jack’s ex-boyfriend, notoriously chaotic in his private life.
"Jack, don’t be stingy. Do my babe a makeover."
"Get out."
Danny laughed at Jack’s breaking point.
"I’ll pay, I have money now."
"You’re disgusting, just looking at you makes me want to puke, get out, you’re not welcome here."
Hearing this, Natalie pushed the door open.
She hadn’t even had time to change her shoes, yet even in simple white sneakers paired with this sequined red dress, her aura was overwhelming.
"The owner doesn’t welcome you, it’s the first time I’ve seen someone so shamelessly persistent."
Natalie stood up for Jack for no other reason than to thank him for the styling he did for her.
Danny’s eyes lit up the moment he saw Natalie, he pushed the woman off his lap and stood up, rubbing his hands together, walking towards Natalie with a sleazy look.
"Hey beautiful, what’s your name?"
Annoyance flashed in Natalie’s eyes, she was about to kick the man in front of her when the door next door opened, and Zane emerged, having changed his clothes.
In just a few seconds, Zane quickly reached Natalie, directly grabbing the disgusting man’s wrist, applying pressure, and a cracking sound was heard.
The store echoed with wails.
Danny was about to curse, but seeing Zane, he forcibly swallowed it.
"Huh, why are you back?"
Hearing this, Natalie immediately looked at Zane.
They knew each other?
Jack’s face was not looking good, he pulled Natalie back a step.
Danny adjusted his clothes.
"Isn’t this the famous Zane? You quit the arena five years ago, why come back now? What, thinking of a comeback?"
With that, Danny chuckled.
"Do you really think you can get back to your peak?"
Zane narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at the person in front of him.
Danny was the one who colluded with Gideon Sheffield, who always saw Zane as a thorn in the eye back in the day. With Zane in the competition, Danny could never win the championship, always overshadowed by Zane.
Zane was never one to waste words on people who knew they were weaker yet still argued. He never gave Danny a second thought during his matches.
This time, it was merely because of Danny’s petty tricks five years ago.
"Even when I’m not in the competition, you haven’t won a championship."
Danny instantly lost his cool.
Zane continued leisurely,
"You went out of your way to stop me from competing, yet still got surpassed by a newcomer. Your skill, even if I return to the arena after ten years, I’ll still easily beat you."
Zane’s face showed no emotion, yet his words were especially harsh.
Danny’s face turned beet red with rage, stepping forward to throw a punch, but before he could swing, Zane caught him and dislocated his arm.
It was then that the murderous intent in Zane’s eyes surfaced.
"Scram. Just as I can stop you from winning the championship, I can make sure your club never gets one either."
