Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 262: I Washed It by Hand and Put It Away
Zane looked at the obedient Natalie for a long time, unsure if she had really listened to what he just said, until he got up after noticing her wet hair on her shoulders.
"Dry your hair first."
Natalie got up and sat at the dressing table, waiting for Zane to fetch the hairdryer to dry her hair. Her hair was long, and within that short period, her bathrobe had gotten half wet down her back.
Zane plugged in the hairdryer.
"Go change your clothes first; it’s uncomfortable like this."
For once, Natalie didn’t heed his words. Instead, she insisted that Zane finish drying her hair before she changed. The man raised an eyebrow, puzzled by her persistence but went along with her.
Seeing Natalie make that gesture at the mountaintop, it was impossible not to be moved. The previous worries overshadowed the feeling of being touched, but now with her sitting quietly by his side, he could smell the milky scent mixed with her body wash, amplifying that feeling of being touched infinitely.
How could anyone not treat such a girl well?
Zane’s actions became more gentle, and when her hair was almost dry, with just a slight dampness left, Natalie raised her hand to gently stroke his wrist where he had once been injured.
"That’s enough, it’s fine like this."
"Dry it completely before you sleep, or you’ll get a headache."
Yet, Natalie still didn’t let go of Zane’s hand. The man gave in, setting the hairdryer aside, placing his hands on the back of the chair, positioning himself as if to embrace her.
"What’s wrong?"
Natalie looked at herself in the mirror. Her face was flushed after having her hair dried, perfectly fitting into the little white rabbit persona.
Thinking about it, Natalie smiled, wondering if Zane liked the little white rabbit-like her.
Natalie stood up, facing Zane, and slowly untied the bathrobe’s belt right in front of him.
Zane’s expression shifted from confusion to a deep intensity after seeing what she wore underneath. He straightened up, not taking his eyes off her for a second, his Adam’s apple moving up and down as he rasped out.
"What are you doing?"
Natalie only let her robe slip down to her shoulders, the silk fabric sliding smoothly off her skin. She remained silent, smiling at Zane as she stood there.
With the room well-lit, Zane could clearly see her shyness concealed yet present.
Like a little white rabbit startled by something.
Zane shut his eyes tightly, trying to steady himself after the visual shock, thinking with his remaining clarity. So, the whole night was her plan; coming back to Rivermark Apartments was part of it, asking him to wash up before talking was part of it, obediently following his words was part of it too.
So this was where she intended to wait for him.
Zane took a few steps back, reaching to turn off the main light in the room, leaving only a small one, with moonlight creeping in through the window, casting a glow at Natalie’s feet.
This version of her seemed like a newly transformed little fairy, innocent and curious about the world.
Zane took a deep breath.
"When did you buy it?"
Natalie tilted her head at Zane without saying anything.
Zane chose not to ask further, instead taking large strides forward, managing to exercise rare restraint just before touching Natalie, holding her cautiously.
He bent down to kiss her shoulder, and as Natalie shivered slightly from his searing touch, he finally pulled her into his embrace, gradually tightening his hold.
What’s the fate of a little white rabbit?
To be devoured by the big bad wolf step by step.
Even though she didn’t hear a single word of praise from Zane, from his unrelenting and uncontrollable demeanor, Natalie knew clearly that she must be stunning.
However, she couldn’t rely on this coy approach too often; it truly was a bit overwhelming.
...
The next morning, when she woke up, Zane was still seated by the bed, not having gone to the office yet. As Natalie sat up hesitantly in pain, the man set the laptop he was holding aside and handed a glass of water to her lips.
It was only after she drank half the glass that the dryness and pain in her throat slowly eased.
All from the midnight shouting last night.
Seeing Zane cater to her so tenderly early in the morning, she felt a mix of anger and amusement, unable to resist pinching his waist.
"Now you know to feel sorry for me? Last night, no matter how much I told you to stop, you wouldn’t listen?"
Zane chuckled, capturing the mischievous hand at his waist, lowering his head to plant a kiss beside her face.
"How could I stop when you looked so beautiful last night?"
Natalie’s eyes fluttered as she shifted her gaze, noticing that the clothes were nowhere to be found on the bed or the floor. Even in the midst of their intensity, Zane hadn’t torn her clothes apart.
It turned out he really liked that outfit.
Natalie blushed with slight embarrassment.
"Where are the clothes?"
"Washed and put away."
"..."
"I hand-washed them."
"..."
Natalie opened her mouth several times, wanting to say something but not knowing where to start, until finally, seeing the content smile at the corners of Zane’s mouth, she couldn’t help but let out a soft huff.
"That’s men for you."
Zane admitted to his inherently male nature, not planning on arguing, but instead asked.
"Wifey, when will you wear it for me again?"
Knowing that Natalie liked being called honey or baby, Zane most often called her that; it was rare for him to call her wife. Hearing it suddenly like that, Natalie felt a shiver of electricity running through her body.
Actually, when Zane called her wife... it sounded really nice too.
Natalie reached up and pinched her earlobe.
"I’m hungry."
Zane raised an eyebrow, getting up.
"I’ll go make you breakfast."
Before he left, Natalie asked again.
"Don’t you need to go to the office?"
He turned around, leaning against the doorway, tilting his head slightly with a gaze fixed on Natalie.
"Wouldn’t you be upset if you woke up and didn’t see me?"
Natalie thought about that scenario. After being worn out last night, waking up to find the man well-fed and already at the office... definitely a bit frustrating.
"So you’re not going at all today?"
"I’ll go after having breakfast with you."
After Zane went downstairs, Natalie lay back on the bed for a while, grabbed her phone, and discovered many messages from people.
Zoe, James, Jay, Theodore, and many others.
Natalie skimmed through them, noting that they mostly praised her coolness, before exiting WeChat and logging onto Weibo.
She hadn’t expected it, but her biker outfit was still trending. Natalie clicked in to look at the photos, feeling rather satisfied, and then quickly scanned through the comments, which were overwhelmingly positive. She casually scrolled until spotting a unique comment.
"Am I the only one who finds the way the lady bends and her hand gesture familiar? They remind me of a professional racer I used to follow."
Natalie’s gaze paused, clicking open that follower’s profile, discovering she wasn’t the idol-chaser type but rather focused on racing content. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Intrigued, Natalie scrolled through her Weibo all the way to the bottom, surprisingly finding information related to Zane.
Interesting.
So, this fan used to follow Zane and is now her fan?
Without thinking twice, Natalie liked the comment and followed the account.
With that done, she got out of bed, freshened up, and once downstairs, seeing him busy in the kitchen, an indescribable feeling surged within her.
A man who had once dominated the racetracks was now in the kitchen cooking for her.
