Addicted to My Cutie and Sweetie-Chapter 925: Humans Are Inferior to Cats Series
"I can go down with you to throw out the trash, then come back up with you," Lu Jing said, then nervously looked up at Zhang Lingying, afraid she might disagree.
Zhang Lingying was clearly surprised, as she hadn’t expected such a response. She hesitated for a moment while Lu Jing swiftly took the trash bag from her hand, waiting for her to close the door and go downstairs together.
Zhang Lingying couldn’t refuse. She turned back to check Little Mirror’s position, ensuring the door wouldn’t pinch it, and gently closed the door.
As they entered the elevator, Zhang Lingying still felt a bit dazed.
Lu Jing’s appearance startled her. Initially, she thought she would be angry with him for pestering her, but upon seeing him, she didn’t feel angry at all. On the contrary, she felt there were many questions she wanted to ask but didn’t know how to begin.
Thus, she could only remain silent for the time being.
Compared to her composure, Lu Jing’s heart was very uneasy.
He was originally provoked by Chen Chen’s words and went upstairs in anger, not expecting to encounter Zhang Lingying, who was about to go out and dispose of the trash, unexpectedly facing each other.
He couldn’t explain to her why he appeared here.
Because, if he were to answer, it would start with how he had superficially promised not to find her again but had secretly snuck out of the hospital every day, waiting downstairs at her place...
Lu Jing had a premonition that if Zhang Lingying found out the car parked downstairs every day was his, she might not agree to go down and throw away trash with him; she would most likely throw him into the trash bin along with the trash.
In Lu Jing’s mind, he already saw the image...
So, he didn’t dare to speak.
The elevator is a closed space, and if two people stand side by side without speaking, the atmosphere becomes very awkward.
Zhang Lingying sneaked a glance at Lu Jing from the corner of her eye, confirmed he wasn’t planning to speak, and was about to ask about his health. Just then, the elevator reached the first floor.
The "ding" interrupted Zhang Lingying’s attempt to speak.
Lu Jing gentlemanly reached out to hold the elevator door, signaling Zhang Lingying to go out first.
He carried the trash and followed closely behind.
While throwing out the trash, they happened to see a stray cat dart from the trash bin into the dim greenery nearby. Lu Jing immediately recalled the kitten he saw at Zhang Lingying’s place.
"The cat at your place, was it picked up from here?" Lu Jing asked.
Zhang Lingying nodded, answered, "Picked up yesterday. The kitten didn’t have its mother to take care of it, almost starving. When it saw me, it smartly came over to ask for help, so I adopted it."
Zhang Lingying didn’t know why she felt guilty; she had just adopted a kitten, and Lu Jing showed up unexpectedly. Now, she was especially afraid of Lu Jing knowing the name she gave the kitten, so she only referred to it as "kitten," pretending it didn’t have a name.
To prevent Lu Jing from asking further questions, Zhang Lingying immediately turned to head back after throwing out the trash.
As they re-entered the elevator, they returned to the earlier awkward atmosphere.
Fortunately, the elevator ride wasn’t long, and they quickly returned to the apartment door. Zhang Lingying took out the keys to open the door, while Lu Jing stood obediently beside her waiting.
This scene made Zhang Lingying’s heart slightly tremble.
When she pushed open the door, seeing Little Mirror waiting at the door for her return, she finally understood what that strange feeling was.
Lu Jing and Little Mirror... really looked alike!
"Meow—"
Little Mirror saw Zhang Lingying, gave a soft meow, and jumped into Zhang Lingying’s arms.
