Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss-Chapter 219: I Can Protect You
That morning, Sophia woke up as usual and had a breakfast of Sichuan-style noodles.
The noodles were aromatic and spicy, matching her palate, and she ate a bit more than usual.
Aunt Sutton was not around; she was working in the backyard, tending to the plants.
Sophia noticed large footprints on the ground covered with some flour, which probably weren’t Aunt Sutton’s, as her shoes weren’t that big.
However, the only man ever seen at this villa besides Ansel Gallagher was no other. Ansel rarely came in, and Butler Langley even less.
Just then, Aunt Sutton returned.
She was wearing slippers, water vapor lingering on her feet from watering the plants.
"Aunt Sutton, did anyone else come over this morning?" she asked.
"No, just me, why?" Aunt Sutton’s lips twitched as she dodged the question but soon her expression returned to normal.
Zane Sterling had finished the Sichuan-style noodles that morning and left without lingering; surely Sophia was unaware.
Sophia glanced at her shoes and then at the footprints on the floor.
Aunt Sutton hurriedly explained, "I got up early this morning, went out to buy groceries, and accidentally wore the wrong shoes, the master’s shoes—my apologies."
Could this lie work?
Sophia paused slightly and nodded without any suspicion.
This was perhaps her being too sensitive, associating everything with him, letting that thought rush forward at the slightest inattention, it’s hard to say what kind of feeling it was.
Missing?
Sadness?
Or hatred?
It seemed to be all.
As if his absence left Sophia’s side missing a certain heartstring.
Ping—
Suddenly, a text message disrupted her thoughts.
Besides the monthly phone fee reminder, she hadn’t received any serious messages, making her pick up her phone in curiosity, instantly losing her composure.
[Come alone to this place to find me, don’t bring anyone else!]
It was an unknown number.
Sophia knew instantly who it was.
It surely was Tim Sawyer.
A few days ago, Ethan Sinclair met with her privately about this issue, saying he couldn’t find Tim Sawyer, couldn’t clarify things, and asked her to wait, not to rush into decisions.
Ethan didn’t mention anything else.
But Sophia always felt Ethan wasn’t telling her all the details; knowing him for so long, she could discern the truth from lies with a single glance when Ethan lied in front of her.
Sophia didn’t expose him, she could pretty much guess the situation from her deductions.
The room was entered, clothes were removed, whether or not something happened only the two involved would know.
If nothing happened, this meeting request would likely show off, or exaggerate and confirm the incident.
Right now, she must want to see Sophia angry, see her rage at Sophia, playing right into her hands.
If something did happen, Tim Sawyer wouldn’t appear so vaguely but would boldly go to The Sterling Family for status.
Sophia contemplated the issue slowly while drinking milk.
Aunt Sutton beside her frowned deeply, slapping her thigh.
It’s over! This is going to be discovered?
She hurriedly called Zane Sterling.
Sophia finished breakfast and went to the studio.
Teacher Hale had been wearing their custom clothes these days, bringing in quite a few customers for the store.
Also providing good suggestions during their design work.
Faye Ellison hadn’t sent any lunch or dinner lately, Aunt Sutton delivered meals daily, leaving him no chance.
He could only send some afternoon tea during their free time, occasionally visiting when Ansel wasn’t around.
"This spot needs some adjustments."
As Sophia was busy drafting design patterns, a fair and radiant hand appeared before her.
Although she didn’t consider herself a hand aficionado, her gaze paused upon seeing this hand.
This hand, untouched by rough work, was smooth, tender, with few calluses—a perfect hand mask.
Translucent skin beneath revealed veins distinct and clear, sensual yet lethal; if he were a girl, he’d definitely be a little devil!
But he was Faye Ellison.
"Thank you," Sophia murmured, shifting slightly to discreetly create space between them.
Faye Ellison noticed it, of course.
"I’ve brought some things you love to eat. Want to try?" he asked.
Sophia preferred not being alone with him upstairs, afraid of any gossip, "Okay."
She removed the apron from her waist and set it aside, following Faye Ellison out.
He pressed the elevator button, and Sophia stood quietly beside him, occasionally glancing at her phone.
Originally this entire backyard building had just stairs; Sophia had added an elevator during renovation as she detested stairs.
And during this pause, a memory surfaced of last year when Zane Sterling climbed 16 floors to save her dog life.
Hmm, she shouldn’t be thinking of him.
Sophia frowned, why even think of him?
Wondering what he was doing now.
With her mind cluttered, she entered the elevator.
Faye Ellison glanced sideways at her; the simple fitted dress she wore highlighted her stunning figure.
Seemed a bit larger.
"..." His Adam’s apple shifted, loosening his tie.
Sophia took a slight look at him; indeed the weather was hot, as soon as they left the room and the air conditioner, Faye Ellison had already started sweating.
"Teacher Hale’s mood has been quite good lately," Sophia broke the awkward silence.
"Yes, I’ve noticed," his voice suave, tinged with huskiness.
After two seconds of silence, Faye Ellison said, "Thank you all; the doctor says she’s been doing well, keep it up."
Keep allowing her to come over and chat with you all.
He smiled.
Once finished talking, the elevator lights flickered erratically.
She hurriedly placed one hand on her stomach and another against the wall, pressing back to the elevator wall with panic.
Faye Ellison placed his hand before her, bracing against the wall.
The elevator became shrouded in darkness.
"Faye Ellison!"
"I’m here!"
Sophia didn’t move, but panic swept through her entire body.
The depth for this elevator malfunction was nothing to her, but she had a baby in her belly!
This was her first child, and no slip-up could be allowed!
"It’s okay, it’s okay, don’t worry!"
Faye Ellison’s voice hovered near her, her senses enveloped in his faint cedar scent in the confined space.
The sharp cedar scent somehow emerged refreshingly amid his fiery presence.
He continued comforting the woman in front, aiming to alleviate her intense emotions.
"If you’re scared, you can hold onto me," he softly murmured.
"..."
Sophia didn’t move.
The cramped space seemed to amplify the sound of her heart pounding.
"I don’t mean anything by it, just if the elevator suddenly drops, I’m afraid you’ll hurt the baby."
He calmly analyzed, "I can protect you both."
No matter where we are.
Sophia’s mind suddenly went blank.
These words sounded ambiguous but also seemed reasonable.
Faye Ellison understood her reluctance, saying nothing more, continuing to shield her.
"Ah!"
Suddenly the elevator descended.
The rumbling sound echoed around her.
Her mind was occupied by thoughts of the unborn child.
She thought back to the dream a few days ago.
She held a soft little baby in her arms, the little one had a charming face, angelic appearance, gently wrapping his little hand around Sophia’s finger while babbling.
And behind her stood the man she longed for.
The man embraced her waist, rested his chin on her shoulder, kissing tenderly on her cheek, then softly gazed at the little baby in her arms.
"Little one, call for Daddy," the man’s face lit up with a smile.
"She’s so young, how could she call?" Sophia laughed, peering at the man behind her.
His passionate kiss landed, entangling near the little one.
