Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss-Chapter 196: Zane Sterling Is a Sly Fox
In the evening, Sophia Lowell stayed in the hospital room, talking to Faye Ellison.
Ansel Gallagher was naturally present as well.
He seemed to lack emotional intelligence; every time Faye looked at him, he had an expression of "What do you want to say?"
Faye was truly feeling helpless.
At nine-thirty, Faye had to ask her to go get some rest.
"Mr. Ellison, the doctor said you should apply the medication before sleeping. Do you want me to help you apply it?" Ansel asked.
"No need."
Faye turned his face away, not wanting to look at him.
"Not applying the medication isn’t good. With that waist injury, if you get a wife in the future, I’m afraid..."
He really knows how to hit the nail on the head, doesn’t he?
There’s a woman right here!
He talked about such matters so casually, and he still has some dignity!
Even though it’s just a back injury, it’s not like the kidneys are bad or there’s a lack of stamina!
"If you feel it’s inconvenient, you can have your assistant do it when they get here?" Sophia stood nearby.
She certainly wasn’t capable of doing such a thing; there were plenty of staff at the hospital, and no way was it her turn.
Faye could only nod awkwardly.
"Then get some rest; I’ll come to see you again tomorrow." Sophia pursed her lips, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Faye had saved her twice, and now his family wasn’t around, leaving him to sleep at the hospital tonight, which looked rather pitiful.
"Mm, you should rest early too."
Sophia walked out.
Ansel sat on the sofa without moving.
Faye frowned, "Why aren’t you leaving?"
Ansel said, "You were injured because of Madam, so naturally, I need to stay here and look after you personally."
Personally look after?
No need at all.
"Leave."
Faye pointed to the door with irritation, not bothering to hold back anymore.
"But there’s no sofa outside, and the chairs are too hard and cold." He mumbled.
"..." What does that have to do with me?
"If you won’t leave, am I supposed to?" Faye was a bit annoyed.
How is there someone in the world who can’t understand plain words?
It’s really a wonder.
Ansel thought for a moment, hesitated, and asked, "If you leave, can I sleep in your bed?"
"..." Would someone please take him away! Anyone else can come in, as long as it’s not him.
Where did Zane Sterling find this bodyguard?
Can someone like this really become a bodyguard?
Faye was practically fuming because of him!
It seems like Ansel Gallagher is determined to stay in the room, impossible to chase away.
Meanwhile, Sophia found a nearby place to stay, with luggage brought over by Faye’s female assistant.
She had just taken a shower and was lying in bed when Zane Sterling video-called her.
[Are you hurt? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?] Zane had just gotten up, his stubble looking like it hadn’t been trimmed for a while, and even his hair had grown quite a bit longer.
[No.] Actually, she had already explained everything clearly when messaging Zane.
But Zane checked his phone upon waking, seeing only that the shelf had collapsed, trapping her; the other details he hadn’t had time to look at.
He scrutinized the person in the video; fortunately, she was alright.
He breathed a sigh of relief, then minimized the video screen to read her messages.
Besides Sophia’s messages, there was also a video sent by Ansel.
[How’s the goods?] He blurted out, [I mean, how is Faye?]
Sophia paused,[He got a back injury, did some X-rays, didn’t hurt the bones, just swollen...]
She recounted the day’s events.
Zane’s hair stood on end as he listened.
Her texts were really too understated.
Zane walked into the bathroom.
Why wasn’t Faye hit on the head?
He should’ve been hit stupid, honestly!
But luckily, Sophia was fine.
How does it feel like whenever I’m not around her, she tends to get in trouble, and each time Faye ends up being around her?
What a jinx, bad luck.
This won’t do!
Over time, this woman is likely to get fooled by that man’s masculine charm.
He lowered his eyelids, listening to her talk, brushing his teeth while watching the freshly showered, pink and lovely beauty.
Early in the morning, witnessing this scene, set off again what had just settled down.
As they were talking, the woman somehow fell asleep.
Zane wiped his face with a towel, then exited the bathroom, sat at the dining table eating breakfast while watching her.
"Goodnight, my darling." He kissed her across the screen, then hung up the call.
Today, he had to go to Mr. Skeech’s studio.
He sent a message to Ansel, then headed out the door feeling at ease.
Ansel received the message: Make him fine, but not too fine.
When Faye’s assistant arrived, Ansel was spread out across the sofa, snoring louder than their conversation.
Faye’s assistant, entering, briefly thought they had entered a barn.
Unsure if he was really asleep or faking it, with such bodyguard quality, they wouldn’t even know if the master was dragged away in the middle of the night.
"Mr. Ellison, this is..." The assistant couldn’t stand it, how could the patient sleep?
Lacking rest could worsen the injuries.
To outsiders, it seemed as if someone had sent him to collect a debt he wouldn’t leave.
"Shall I get you another room next door?" the assistant asked.
Faye furrowed his eyebrows tightly, not saying a word, effectively agreeing.
Faye and the assistant kept their voices low, and as they were about to leave the room, Ansel rolled over, yawned, and changed his position to lie on his side.
"Where are you two going? Midnight snack? Can you take me along?"
Ansel sat up slowly.
Faye glanced at him while holding his sore waist.
He woke up so timely, didn’t he? Wanting a midnight snack, really knows how to enjoy life.
"I’ll sleep in the hallway; you take the bed." Faye said.
Ansel chuckled, saying, "My boss was right, Mr. Ellison is really a good person, definitely wouldn’t make things difficult for me; looks like I must properly protect Mr. Ellison!"
Zane Sterling, that old fox!
What has he been telling this bodyguard?
"No need..." Faye
Before Faye could finish his sentence, Ansel said, "Nobody sleeps in the hallway; keeping Mr. Ellison there isn’t an option."
Faye didn’t bother responding, heading out with the assistant.
Ansel quickly followed.
Faye halted in the corridor, turned to watch Ansel following.
Ansel grinned.
"I don’t need your protection." Faye’s good temper was almost worn out.
It was eleven at night; he was injured, his head was fuzzy, he just wanted a good sleep, yet Zane Sterling left this seemingly not so smart bodyguard by his side.
He couldn’t bring himself to tell Sophia.
What a headache.
"No way, I have to protect you; otherwise, I won’t get paid." Ansel Gallagher.
"I can pay you triple."
"Great!" Ansel laughed, pulling out his phone showing a long bank account number. "300,000."
Faye had just taken out his phone but put it back.
"300,000?" Why not rob?
"Indeed!"
"..." Faye suppressed his inner fury, his molars grinding tightly, painfully transferring the 300,000 to him.
"Can you leave now?" Faye looked at the payment info on his phone.
"Where to?" Ansel looked puzzled.
"You just agreed; pay you triple, and you’ll leave." Faye tried his patience one last time to tell him.
"You only said you didn’t need me to protect you. I won’t protect, but I must follow. If you run off, Madam would be angry and dock my pay." Ansel spoke confidently.
"..."
Zane Sterling really raised a fine bodyguard!
