Accidenttal One Night Stand with My Aloof Uncle-Chapter 659 - 669: Even Wishing You Well, You Still Force Me to Give 9
After ending the call with Jacob Lee, Chloe Grant placed her phone aside, feeling a bit weak, leaning against the headboard and staring at the ceiling.
The weather outside seemed nice today, with the bright sunlight streaming in through the window, illuminating the room warmly.
As Chloe Grant stared at the ceiling, her eyes began to well up with tears.
"Chloe."
When Lucas walked in, Chloe quickly lowered her head and wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes.
"I made you some noodles, a light broth. The doctor said your throat is inflamed with phlegm, so you can’t have fruits or sweets or spicy things."
"I was just thinking of having some," Chloe remarked, reaching out for the noodles, but Lucas wouldn’t let her.
He placed the noodles aside, brought a small table to her bed, set it up, and only then did he place the noodles on the table, handing her chopsticks.
"Eat up, you were sick all day yesterday and didn’t eat anything," Lucas said, his worry clear.
Recently, this girl had gotten alarmingly thin.
Lucas began to miss the Chloe of her teenage years, chubby and adorable.
Soft and plump all over.
Now, all that was left was skin and bones.
"I’m starving," Chloe said with a smile, taking the chopsticks and beginning to eat.
The noodles were very hot, the broth was clear and bland, yet Chloe found it particularly delicious.
Lucas sat by her side, gently feeling her forehead, reassured now that her fever had subsided.
"A sudden fever out of nowhere, if it hadn’t been for my brother in the middle of the night..." Lucas’s words abruptly paused.
Chloe likewise stopped eating.
Lucas hurriedly continued, "Next time, if you feel unwell, call me first thing, okay?"
"Got it," Chloe replied softly, lowering her head to continue eating.
As if she hadn’t heard Lucas’s slip of the tongue.
But these noodles...no matter how she ate them, they didn’t taste right anymore.
In her mind, the events of the previous night began to replay uncontrollably, when he held her and spoke those words.
"I’m done eating!"
Finally, frustrated, Chloe threw down her chopsticks.
"Not tasty?" Lucas failed to understand her mood.
Chloe was frustrated with herself.
Indecisive and not brave!
Endlessly thinking about him.
Even having decided to start a new relationship with Jacob Lee, she still clung to the past, privately heartbroken.
What good would it do to hold onto the past?
Could he respond?
What good would heartbreak do?
Could he ever understand?
It was just self-torment.
"I’m tired, I want to sleep, take these away," Chloe said, gesturing to the noodles she left half-eaten.
Lucas couldn’t understand her sudden mood swing.
Moved his lips...in the end, said nothing.
"Alright, you rest. I’m just downstairs. If you need anything, just text me, let me know if you need anything."
Lucas spoke while removing the table and the noodles for Chloe. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Chloe said nothing, lying on the bed, pulling the quilt over her head.
Lucas glanced back at her, sighed softly, somewhat helpless.
He walked out, closing the door gently for Chloe.
He took a couple of steps towards the staircase and saw Matthew Morgan leaning against the staircase.
His head lowered, a cigarette between his fingers.
Lucas approached, "Probably realized you made the noodles, so she just threw the chopsticks."
