Accidenttal One Night Stand with My Aloof Uncle-Chapter 631 - 641: A Toast to the Past, A Toast to Tomorrow 1
"If you really care about your sister, go see her right now, get her to the ward, wait for her to wake up, and convince her to accept psychological treatment."
Matthew Morgan looked at Benjamin Grant, speaking coldly.
Benjamin was initially furious, but then surprised.
Matthew had already let him go.
He turned around, headed towards the emergency room, talked with the doctor, and arranged for Chloe Grant to be placed in a VIP ward.
Before arranging this, Matthew had gone to check the ward in advance, especially the bathroom, ensuring it was clean before having the doctor arrange for Chloe to go in.
Chloe Grant was particularly picky about bathrooms outside.
If a bathroom isn’t clean, she can’t stay there.
The same goes for the hospital.
When she was sent to the ward, Jodie Cooper and Benjamin Grant accompanied her.
Matthew Morgan stood quietly beside them, his gaze always on Chloe Grant.
Jodie Cooper and Benjamin Grant didn’t speak, just quietly watched him.
They couldn’t understand how this man could be so indifferent, cold-blooded, and calm.
However, when he looked at Chloe, his eyes were so gentle.
It was hard to read.
Chloe Grant didn’t stay unconscious for too long; she began to frown twenty minutes after being sent to the ward.
Matthew turned around and told the two, "Convince her to accept treatment from a psychologist."
He simply finished speaking, turned around, and walked out of the ward, closing the door behind him.
Three minutes after the door closed, Chloe Grant woke up.
She looked blankly at the ceiling, her eyes empty, her mind not yet returned.
Jodie Cooper and Benjamin Grant hurried over, standing by the bed, looking concerned, softly calling, "Chloe? Chloe?"
Chloe responded slowly; Jodie called out a few times before she turned her head, looking at Jodie and Benjamin.
At first, her eyes were still vacant, but gradually they filled with something as she came back to her senses.
"Oh, it’s you two..."
She remembered but was held down by Jodie, whose expression was very serious, "Are you treating me as your sister or not?"
"What’s wrong?" Chloe looked innocent.
Only feeling a throbbing pain in her forehead, she reached out to touch the wound on her forehead, but Benjamin quickly restrained her wrist, "There’s a wound on your forehead, don’t touch it."
"What’s wrong with me?" Chloe couldn’t help but ask, looking at Jodie, feeling innocent and puzzled.
Jodie looked at her, angered, her face extremely stern.
The nearby Benjamin couldn’t stand it, reached out to pat Jodie’s shoulder, signaling her to control her emotions.
"When we got home, we found you fainted at the bottom of the stairs and injured, obviously from a fall down the stairs," Benjamin explained briefly.
Chloe slightly opened her mouth, then smiled as if nothing had happened, "Oh, the power suddenly went out. I couldn’t see, so I fell. It’s fine."
Jodie stood beside, watching her talk about this as if nothing had happened.
And thinking of the doctor’s words...
Lately, she had this attitude towards everyone, smiling and relaxed.
Jodie once thought her relationship with Matthew was stable.
Now it seems like crap!
If the relationship were stable, could Chloe be like this?
Jodie was angry and distressed.
"Nothing, nothing, nothing! Just how long do you plan to keep up this act, Chloe Grant!" Jodie burst out, questioning, "Are you and Matthew Morgan no longer together? You’re obviously sad, so why pretend in front of us? Didn’t we agree that when we’re sad, heartbroken, or unhappy, we’d drink together, indulge together, vent together? Now you’re telling me it’s nothing, nothing, what’s that supposed to mean?"
Jodie’s words left Chloe dumbfounded, unable to maintain the laid-back smile on her face.
"I..."
She moved her lips but didn’t know what to say.
Benjamin pulled Jodie aside, "Don’t be too emotional."
Jodie shook off his hand, "And you expect me to stay calm now? My best friend pretends nothing is wrong in front of me every day, and ends up with mild depression, and you tell me to stay calm?"
Jodie pointed at her own nose, then looked back at Chloe, "If I could stay calm, that’d be strange!"
Benjamin frowned, "Regardless, she needs rest now. Shouting like this isn’t punishing her more?"
Upon hearing this, Jodie was immediately displeased, retorting, "Yes! I’m a sinner, I’m the one punishing her, it’s all my fault, alright?"
She angrily finished speaking, turned around, and walked out, opening the door.
When Jodie was about to leave, she realized Matthew was still at the door.
The door automatically closed with inertia.
Before Jodie could speak, footsteps could be heard from the end of the corridor.
Immediately, Jodie saw Ralph Koch running over, stopping in front of Matthew and her.
"What happened to Chloe?" he pressed.
Ralph seemed to have been chasing all along, causing him to stop and breathe heavily, sweat beads continuously forming on his forehead and cheeks.
Ralph took one look and, without waiting for an answer, directly pushed the door open and went inside, closing it behind him.
The atmosphere in the room was a bit awkward; Chloe Grant and Benjamin Grant remained silent.
Ralph approached Chloe. As Chloe looked up, Ralph saw the bandaged wound on her forehead and frowned immediately.
He poked it with his index finger, causing Chloe to cry out in pain.
"You know it hurts?" Ralph retorted.
Chloe raised her head in dissatisfaction, "What are you doing?"
"I should be the one asking you. How did you faint in your own home?"
"The power suddenly went out. I couldn’t see, so I fell," Chloe explained simply.
Ralph laughed outright, "You think I’m stupid? The place where you live, randomly experiencing a power outage? And even if it does, wouldn’t there be a prior notice?"
"Moreover, with your temperament and your night blindness, you’d definitely have a flashlight on you that day."
Ralph mercilessly exposed her, sitting down on Chloe’s bed, turning to her, "So, Chloe Grant, when you’re covering something up with a lie, can you at least think twice about the credibility of that lie?"
"You..."
Chloe was at a loss for words, directly confronted by him.
"So, how did you actually fall down the stairs?" Ralph pressed on.
"It was just an accident,"
Chloe answered irritably at his questioning, "I already said it was an accident. It’s over now, I’m fine, so what’s all the fuss about?"
Chloe said as she attempted to lift the covers and get out of bed, "I want to be discharged and go home. I have a ton of work to handle."
"No!" Benjamin shouted quickly, trying to stop Chloe, but Ralph already reached out, grabbing her arm to prevent her from getting out of bed.
Ralph wore a stern expression, "I’ve arranged for a psychologist to come and take a look at you."
Benjamin beside him was surprised upon hearing this, looking at Ralph in disbelief.
Wasn’t the psychologist arranged by Matthew Morgan?
