Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 100: Setting a trap - Part 2
Chapter 100: Setting a trap - Part 2
Amy observed the man calmly. There wasn’t any fluctuation in her eyes except for wariness. She didn’t hide her suspicion from him, showing him her thoughts blatantly.
"I mean you no harm," the man said, his smile intact.
"That’s what people who intend to harm say," Amy countered wryly.
"Perhaps. But that shouldn’t be the criterion for judging people, right? What if I’m a good man?"
"What if you aren’t?" Amy wasn’t an easy person. Her mind had cautioned her against him the moment he approached. His gentle smile made her antsy in a way she was all too familiar with. It was how she felt when she was dealing with an enemy.
"Well, I have nothing to say in my defense. Perhaps, your opinions of me will change as time passes," the man said, not offended by her remarks.
"Perhaps." Amy shrugged, not bothering to be courteous. She watched him as she sipped her lemonade and returned her phone, leaving the man awkwardly standing before her.
The man didn’t mind her impertinence and occupied the table opposite her, taking a chair directly in front of her. They were now seated facing each other.
While Amy continued to look at her phone, the man looked at her once in a while as he drank his coffee.
Nothing much transpired between them.
However, to the others in the canteen, it became a source of gossip and they sneaked glances at the two, wondering what was happening between them.
Xavier: What are you doing, Amy?
Amy: Being a showpiece to everyone.
Isaac: Are you being watched?
Amy: (nods) Kinda feels weird, being watched like this. I feel like a celebrity.
Xavier: What exactly happened?
Amy: A man approached. Wanted to sit with me. I rejected.
Isaac: What did you feel about him?
Amy: Bad vibes. He is danger.
Kyle: Does he suspect you?
Amy: No. Didn’t allow him to.
Amy knew that the man would have surely suspected her if she had agreed for him to sit with her. People like him would instantly know the other person was setting a trap for them. So, she was cautious and prepared as she lured him into her trap slowly.
Amy ignored him completely. Except for the few times when their eyes met as she looked around the canteen, she didn’t look at him directly. She even rolled her eyes at him, expressing her disgust.
Xavier: How does he look?
Amy: Like a refined scum.
Xavier: ...
Isaac: ...
There was no response from Kyle.
It wasn’t just the four of them in the group chat. But the others were too busy to check the chat and reply to her. While Kyrell was with Sienna, attending a meeting, the other four were involved in looking for evidence in their captives’ phones.
They all knew the matter wasn’t that important, considering how there was a constant influx of messages. So, they didn’t bother about it.
Xavier: Whoever planted him knew what they were doing.
Amy: His face is quite deceptive. Easy to misunderstand him to be a gentleman.
Isaac: How long are you going to stay in the canteen?
Amy: Another ten minutes, perhaps. Not sure. Why?
Kyle: He’ll start doubting you if you are alone for a long time.
Amy hadn’t considered that far. Most employees in the Lawrence Group knew that Sienna had four other bodyguards, excluding Kyrell.
Since Kyrell was with Sienna in the meeting room, the others were practically free. So, Amy sitting alone in the canteen while the other three were nowhere to be seen would definitely raise suspicions.
Within a few minutes, the three men entered the canteen and approached Amy. They didn’t even look at the man who had been observing Amy, allowing him to have his coffee without any worries.
"Why didn’t you wait for us?" Xavier complained, taking the chair beside Amy while Isaac and Kyle sat opposite her, showing the man their backs.
"I was thirsty. I thought it’d take you guys some time," Amy pouted, giving them a look.
"What are you drinking?" Isaac asked, staring at her almost empty cup.
"Lemonade," Amy said, and emptied the cup.
"Anyone up for a coffee?" Kyle stood up and lightly pushed his coat behind him.
"I’ll have one." Isaac raised a finger.
"I’ll go with you. I’m a little hungry. Maybe I’ll grab a quick bite."
While Xavier and Kyle went to buy their coffee, Amy and Isaac remained seated as they stared at each other, silently passing messages through their eyes.
"Is he still sneaking glances at us?" Isaac asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Yeah. It’s cold today, isn’t it?"
"It sure is. The temperature dropped a little." Isaac nodded, encouraging her to keep up the good work.
"Are you alright?" Isaac asked, his expression morphing into one filled with concern.
"What are you referring to?" Amy knew he was up to something. So, she squinted her eyes, going along with his plan.
"You know, after what happened yesterday. Your argument with Kyrell."
"Ohh, that?" Amy’s brows jumped in realization, and her lips thinned into a straight line. She didn’t say anything, focusing on remaining silent. She looked towards the entrance of the canteen, preferring not to answer his question.
"Amy, can’t you two talk it out? Why..."
"Isaac, you and I both know what happened. Kyrell and I are both Miss Lawrence’s bodyguards. Why is he getting preferential treatment? What did I do?" Amy exploded, her eyes blazing with anger. Her forehead was marred with crease lines as she expressed her displeasure.
"Now, he is being paid more, even though we joined on the same day. Don’t you think Miss Lawrence is prejudiced?"
Amy’s acting was so brilliant that Isaac was really drawn into it for a moment, and he believed she was truly disappointed and irked.
’Wow,’ he thought, admiring the woman’s ability to deceive people. ’She’d make an amazing spy.’
"Amy..." he sighed, returning to his senses and held her palm.
"What are you guys talking about?" Xavier returned with a cup of coffee and a plate of spring rolls while Kyle held two cups of coffee.
"Nothing significant." Amy gave Isaac a look, and they started talking about random topics.
A few minutes later, the man who was watching them silently finished his coffee and left the canteen. But he didn’t forget to look at Amy. When their eye met, he nodded at her lightly before leaving the place.
