Chapter 371: Arrangements, The Land of Mortality

The Sect Leader of the Heaven Immortal Sect slowly turned his gaze toward a distant point in the void.

That direction corresponded precisely to the location of the Tower of Trials within the sect’s vast domain.

All Towers of Trial, no matter where they were erected across realms and heavens, were interconnected.

A disturbance in even the most remote tower would echo through the entire network, like ripples spreading across an endless sea.

What had just occurred was not subtle, it was loud enough for even the highest authorities to feel.

Moments later, several powerful presences arrived outside his palace.

They did not enter immediately.

They waited.

With a casual wave of his hand, the Sect Leader opened the palace gates.

Clouds parted, space folded, and the figures were transported directly inside, finding themselves standing upon layers of mist before a vast, indistinct silhouette.

The Sect Leader himself.

"We greet the Sect Leader!"

A chorus of voices rang out in unison.

These were Grand Elders of the Heaven Immortal Sect, figures who commanded respect across the Nine Heavens.

Some had even been "invited" from other great forces in the past, a polite term masking the sect’s shameless but highly effective talent acquisition methods.

"Sect Leader," one Grand Elder spoke first, clasping his hands deeply,

"I implore you to stop this madness again!"

"Yes! Sect Leader, how can you allow such an enormous amount of resources to be wasted like this?!"

"We implore you, Sect Leader!"

Voices overlapped, some indignant, some dramatic, some bordering on theatrical grief.

The Sect Leader’s brow twitched.

"How many times must I repeat this?" he said, irritation slipping into his voice.

"I cannot control that damned thing."

He knew better than anyone what it meant when that arrangement was activated.

"This is an arrangement set by them," he continued calmly, suppressing his frustration.

"Once triggered, even I cannot escape its consequences. And by now, the other major forces will already have sensed it. You all know this, yet you pretend otherwise are you getting young?!"

His gaze swept over the Grand Elders.

"The cost of maintaining the arrangement is shared among all forces involved. However as you know," his eyes narrowed slightly,

"Because it originated from our sect, we bear the greatest share."

At this, several Grand Elders dramatically wiped nonexistent tears from their eyes, sighing as if personally wounded.

The Sect Leader watched them in silence.

He knew every expression was fake.

But he did not expose them.

They were old, powerful, and prideful. Even if none of them could challenge him, reputations still mattered and he was not entirely without mercy.

’Is this because that old man has returned to the Heavens?’ the Sect Leader wondered.

In his long life, there were only a handful of beings he truly feared, not because of raw strength alone, but because their intentions were unfathomable.

That old man was one of them.

"Enough," the Sect Leader said coldly.

"Continue babbling, and I’ll send all of you to the Otherworldly Battlefield."

The hall fell instantly silent.

The Grand Elders exchanged glances. None of them wished to test whether he was joking.

"...Have they started moving again?" one Elder muttered cautiously.

"I didn’t receive any intelligence reports."

"I was speaking hypothetically," the Sect Leader replied flatly. Then he sighed.

"Regardless, I must prepare for the upcoming meeting. The arrangement has been activated and not just any arrangement, but the Land of Mortality."

His expression became slightly complicated.

"I assure you, the other forces will bleed as well. Every being who has attempted this before, no matter how legendary they later became has failed to clear it."

He paused briefly, then added with a trace of bitterness,

"At the very least, I’ll make sure to use the capitalization skills I’ve been honing. If resources must be burned, then everyone must burn them."

He had no expectation of success.

Only damage control.

’What an unlucky day this has become...’ the Sect Leader thought as messages began piling up on his communication medallion, each one undoubtedly worse than the last.

??? Sealed Realm — Land of Mortality.

A star tore through the sky and slammed into the earth, crashing straight into the heart of a desolate camp where several figures had been idly conversing.

Dust billowed. The ground trembled.

"...Another one?" a voice drawled lazily.

"After so long?" another replied.

"I’d almost forgotten how time even passes here."

"The last brat who arrived had his mentality shattered after only a few thousand deaths and seeing no hope." a hoarse voice sneered.

"Watch your words," someone else said calmly.

"There’s no need to curse the young ones."

"Kekeke, like I care," the hoarse voice laughed.

"It’s not as if this one has the potential to free us from this place."

"But what if he does?" a quieter voice asked.

"Then I’ll thank him," came the immediate reply, dripping with malice,

"and take over his body. Hahahaha!"

"You bastards never take anything seriously," another muttered in irritation.

"Enough chatter," someone finally said.

"Let’s go take a look at him."

The figures rose one by one and began moving toward the impact site, toward Yu Xuan.

At the same time, information flooded Yu Xuan’s mind.

Challenge 2: Defeat %#$@%#^@! and free the %#$@%^#.

When the One T@&! &@a!e* was invaded from beyond the boundary, the Heavens stood on the brink of a war unlike any seen before. In desperation, several supreme existences created sealed realms to contain the most terrifying beings from the Outside.

Thus, the Forbidden Places were born.

One of them is the Land of Mortality.

Here resides the S%ÏÏ¢#er of M%#$al@ª§.

This is a realm where immortals lose their immortality.

A cursed domain where all who enter, regardless of origin or cultivation are reduced to mortals.

In the ancient era, countless undying and eternal beings willingly entered this place, sacrificing their status and power, just to prevent the S%ÏÏ¢#er of M%#$al@ª§ from ever stepping into the Heavens.

They never left this place, because only a Mortal has the right to destroy the S%ÏÏ¢#er of M%#$al@ª§.

And till now, none succeeded in this Impossible Task.
