Academic gathering with a lich-Chapter 617 - 570: Creation of the Evil God (Date Cake’s Mission 4/6)
"The coccyx, in the shape of a trident, enhances the destructive force while reinforcing the ability to fly, with a hardness of level five, and an additional two caudal vertebrae ensure flexibility..."
Mr. Giant Dragon’s body had already been largely modified, with his spine and coccyx reaching a length of more than thirty meters, and had perfectly merged with his soul. From this point, Mr. Giant Dragon had transformed into a monstrous skeleton with a human-headed dragon body. However, his soul had undergone extensive modifications and was now in a state of confused and murky slumber, far beyond simple communication. Ominous had constructed some soul conduits with the Power of the Evil God, holding the giant dragon’s soul at the dangerous brink of near nothingness. This half-formed state of the soul was ideal, even though it was precarious, as it ensured that Mr. Giant Dragon’s future dragon life wouldn’t suffer from a mental disorder of self-loss. Just as Mr. Giant Dragon himself had once thought, he had to discard some of his human essence to become a dragon, otherwise his own consciousness would tear apart, turning him into a deranged monster.
The most tightly woven wing bone structure was crafted from skeletal material, with a wingspan of twenty-six meters. At every joint, a fan bone was added to adjust the magical power, as the giant dragon still primarily relied on manipulating the magical power in the air for flight. After deciding to design the forelimbs into hefty weapons of war, Lyle put even more effort into perfecting the structure of the dragon wings. A pair of sturdy wings that matched the terrifying skeleton.
When Lyle saw the dragon’s soul perfectly integrate with these wings, he breathed a sigh of relief. These dragon wings were not entirely reliant on the body knowledge of the Firstborn of the Dragon; Lyle had also incorporated some of his own insights based on his memory. Whether to replicate entirely in the modifications or how to balance the risks of innovation—such conjectures repeatedly emerged in the brilliant, confident brain under the influence of the Lich Crown. With room for improvisation, Lyle made his choices and proved them right.
"We still lack the giant dragon’s head bone..."
The crucial head bone, which Lyle had deliberately saved for last, naturally was the most important part. The Liches’ head bones burned with the Soul Flame, and while not a fatal weakness, it was a cornerstone for the restless soul to synchronize with the skeleton. The new Dragon’s Head Bone was ready, and in this respect, Lyle had preserved everything from the giant dragon Koranac.
Lyle separated the final Soul Fragment of Mr. Giant Dragon from his head bone and fitted it onto the Dragon Bone. Abandoning human bone to assume a dragon’s form, the dragon creation project was thus perfectly concluded.
Looking at the huge head bone in Lyle’s hands, which was larger than a man, Mr. Zhiyan put down the last slate and walked over with a sense of relief.
"At last, all the knowledge I possessed has been applied without a hitch. Everything went rather smoothly."
The Giant Dragon’s Soul Flame flickered, threatening to go out, but due to his own formidable strength, he could still endure a soul transfer.
Just as Lyle was moving the giant dragon’s head bone to connect it to the dragon’s almost complete skeleton, Zhiyan made an intriguing remark.
"The Dragon Bones were crafted based on the body information of the Firstborn of the Dragon; his flesh will be very similar to Koranac, which means that in the future, we could call the giant dragon the Dragon’s Eldest Grandson..."
Lyle rolled his eyes in silence, showing contempt for Zhiyan’s behavior of speaking ill of the giant dragon while he slept.
"I am not sure if the bygone Firstborn of the Dragon would acknowledge this connection, but I am certain that Mr. Giant Dragon, having become a dragon, would not mind showing you the strength of his new body. And who decided that similarity to the Firstborn of the Dragon necessarily implies his lineage."
"But from the perspectives of logic and genetics, isn’t it so that offspring inherit the genetic material with a diluted or similar makeup?"
"I can’t accept your view. I don’t believe that the Dragon Corpse I painstakingly crafted is just a weaker version of the Firstborn of the Dragon. With the blessing of the Lich Crown, the Dragon Corpse we create should be considered an enhanced version of the Firstborn of the Dragon...at least an isomer."
The confidence displayed by Lyle surprised Zhiyan, who admired such belief, though it still felt somewhat unrealistic.
"To be called an enhanced individual of the Firstborn of the Dragon, Lyle, do you realize whom you are comparing with? There is only one existence that surpassed the Firstborn of the Dragon, the former God of Devouring, the Dragon Father Yemotar, the king of the clans from the last era. Are you sure your modification can match the Dragon Father?"
Actually, as soon as Lyle heard the name Yemotar, he regretted it. Dragon Father Yemotar, that was the Raymond of a previous era, how could I possibly create another Raymond. Although he had accepted the superiority in his heart, the Dragon Father was dead, so a little face-saving couldn’t hurt, right? Thus, Lyle persisted and replied.
"Exactly! I believe I have crafted a Dragon Corpse for the Dragon Priest that is worthy of comparison with the Dragon Father! How about that, do you sense my power now!"
Zhiyan smacked his lips and nodded, "I do sense it; your thick skin is genuinely powerful."
Lyle did not respond, as Ominous had already retrieved the Giant Dragon’s Soul Flame, and within the shadows, a pale flame was burning.
[A soul without a host can’t last long. If you wish to bear the title of a kin-slayer, you may stand there holding that dragon’s head for another thirty seconds.]
Lyle hurried to attach the head bone, and the golden glow of the Giant Dragon’s Soul successfully enveloped the Dragon Bone. The Dragon Corpse, shining with golden light, took on a hint of vitality, and a feeling close to perfection gradually burst forth.
"Just one more step to go, the fusion of the Giant Dragon’s soul."
Ominous’s shadow cradled the pale soul, delving into the Giant Dragon’s skeleton.
A pale flame lit up in the vast void, sparks gradually expanding, inflating to fit the size of a Giant Dragon’s body, becoming more and more intense.
Crack.
The subtle sound sent Lyle’s heart sinking to the abyss, as with the flames that grew stronger, so did the bone cracks forming around his eye sockets, spreading rapidly across the entire body, as if his carefully crafted aberrant Dragon Corpse was merely a glass vessel, susceptible to shattering.
Fear! Panic! Suppressed by the forces of the Ominous and the Lich Crown, the sense of loss beyond control was torn apart by resolve.
"What’s happening?!
The Dragon Corpse was disintegrating, pale lines tearing the Giant Dragon’s bones into several pieces.
[This Dragon Corpse cannot accommodate the Giant Dragon teacher’s Soul Fragment, it was cast aside, rejected by this skeleton made using the information of the Dragon’s Firstborn.]
Zhiyan rushed to the bone slab, his fingertips grazing across the runes, causing them to crack, never stopping for a moment.
"I can’t find the reason, Lyle! The Dragon Corpse is perfect! There’s no reason for it to collapse! I don’t understand!!! I don’t understand!!!!"
"Genetics... Mystical identification..." Lyle covered his face, the profound knowledge brought by the Lich Crown enabled him to find the key, but that reason was so simple and clear, simple to the point of desperation.
Giant Dragons are noble and powerful beings, inheriting lofty prohibitions from Dragon Father Yemotar, forbidding anyone from desecrating their bloodline, even if it’s just their bones. The offspring of a Giant Dragon cannot become another Giant Dragon; this ironclad rule was determined at their birth as humans. A powerful soul could become a Dragon Priest, but even the strongest soul could not transform into a Giant Dragon; this was a rule set by the Dragon Father.
Giant Dragons will always be an inviolable and proud existence, even in death. And Mr. Giant Dragon, he will be like the moth chasing its dreams, consumed by the flames. The pale Soul Fragment of the Giant Dragon teacher was held in the hands of the Ominous like a lost traveler with nowhere to go.
The rustling noise created by Zhiyan made Lyle even more irritable.
"Stop, Zhiyan."
"No, that’s not right. The Giant Dragon is perfect, I must have missed something... I can fix it... I can..."
"Don’t count on those big lizards! Depending on them, depending on that dead Dragon King, there is no way out for us!"
[There isn’t a Dragon Corpse that can accommodate the soul of a Giant Dragon; it belongs only to him, you understand what I mean.]
Malice dripped from the corner of Lyle’s eyes as he held the skull of Mr. Giant Dragon in his hands, looking at the pale Soul Fragment hovering in the air.
"Fear descends."
The quagmire of malevolence dragged Lyle down, tall shadowy figures like contorted growing trees, crawled out of the mire, an aura of fear enveloạping the land in madness as all spirits left their corpses, wailing in agony around the dark giant.
"Lyle?" Zhiyan looked up at the black storm suddenly appearing, and that gentle youth had morphed into a distorted, frenzied entity.
Branch-like arms crushed the delicate Lich skull, while twisted, rotting muck devoured the fragments, the pale Soul Fragment, and the broken Dragon Bones.
[If that dead Dragon King won’t accept my teacher, then let him continue to rot in his grave.]
[I will use everything at my command to create a Dragon of my own.]
[An ultimate evil dragon surpassing the Dragon Father Yemotar.]
