Academic gathering with a lich-Chapter 575 - 528 Fear Descends
As if directing his own arm, no, that feeling was even more precise than directing an arm. His own flesh felt like it had been dismantled into countless interconnected ball bearings, and Lyle could finely control each one. God’s Will granted Lyle an extraordinary way of control, and he understood his own body better than ever before.
Every body measurement could be expressed in numbers, every thread of strength was divided down to its basic unit. "Lyle" in God mode could calculate his Life Force with precision, but he did not weave a bright red health bar above his head to indicate his life value, which seemed like a very inauspicious action. Lyle’s intuition suppressed the impulse to create something amusing.
Because, those with visible health bars can be killed.
"Fema, I need the Black Abyssal Demons to destroy everything being shaped in the city of machines, these shiny transistors, those reinforced silvery buildings."
Upon receiving the command, Fema revealed a sadist’s smile and passed the order to the eager, newly born members of the Demon Race.
"Black Abyssal Demons, execute Lylethos’s command, destroy everything you see!"
This kind of command, hitting right at the Demon Race’s preferences, incited cheers. Lyle watched the group of excited muscle-warriors rush into the orderly buildings, where the booming of impacts and the metal fragments from the buildings’ collapse rose and fell in waves. Nearby, one could even hear cheers of "For Lylethos."
Lyle, with an amused shake of his head, walked alone into the growing metallic jungle.
The delaying role of the Black Abyssal Demons was limited. Lyle needed to hurry to the revival site of the Mechanical God, the center of the plan, the location of the pyramid.
The skinny Plague Doctor moved through the silvery forest, the black robe blooming with tendrils looked like it was fading, with ink spreading from the edges of the robe onto the metal slabs, like a brush painting a path. The growing clusters of crystals on both sides stood in stark contrast to this black trajectory. What seemed like a harmonious scene was a fierce battle at the microscopic level. The long streaks of ink were actually numerous tiny tendrils, clawing their way up the crystals, emitting a gnawing sound, while the crystals shimmered, transforming the black tendrils into conductive wires. They eroded each other, they assimilated into each other, the war between flesh and machine had already quietly begun.
Touching an obstructing metal slab, the corroded fragments turned into gravel and fell into the black mire, and suddenly Lyle’s view opened up.
The wildly growing machinery had not destroyed their temple. The solemn silver pyramid stood as if on the other bank of the river of time, shining with eternal light.
Only here could one discern Dorothy’s intent in accelerating the growth of the metal.
The seemingly chaotic metal pillars actually followed a certain pattern. In the middle of each metal pillar, a crescent-shaped sheet was interconnected. Those large and thin mercury sheets in the air came together to form a huge spherical mirror. They adjusted angles to converge light onto the pyramid.
Like overlapping petals, the thin sheets gathered all the city’s sunlight onto the pyramid. This made the pyramid shine even brighter, bright enough to blind the naked eye, fortunately, Lyle was not using his eyes to "see" at that moment.
It was an amplifier, the Genesis Ray, it was also a kind of light.
According to the original plan in his mind, once the amplifier was completed, Dorothy would have three minutes of charging time. Then the first Genesis Beam would fall, mechanizing everything in the silvery city.
Within three minutes, to corrupt the pyramid receiving light energy or to destroy the program running Dorothy, it was a bit of a challenge but should be possible.
Lyle was contemplating this when the pyramid’s ground floor gate opened, and light illuminated the path. Five tall mechanical giants walked out.
The twelve-meter mechanical giants, with their long arms almost touching the ground when standing, looked somewhat comical in their posture, hunching, with the weird horn-like crowns piercing the sky.
"Like my toys, Lyle?" Dorothy’s voice came from the loudspeaker. At the bare top of the pyramid, a square platform rose, and the petite Dorothy covered in mosaic was fixed to her throne by pipelines, it was hard to say if she looked more like a queen or a prisoner. Her evolution was not complete; she had expended all her computing power on these mechanical giants in front of her.
Dorothy’s toys, five Mechanical Bad Omen Giants.
It seems Dorothy had extracted his memories, especially the fear. Lyle did not understand how she did it, but the field of fear carried by the Bad Omen Giants indeed appeared on these metal replicas. That deep, sinister malice that made one’s veins freeze was like waves crashing against Lyle.
It excited "Lyle."
"You seem obsessed with copying the abilities of the other party; that is a mistaken decision,"
The voice behind the bird-beak mask was muffled, and the black eyes behind the lenses appeared slightly mad.
"Dependence on intelligence is an instinct of the mechanical. Even if you can make predictions and calculations based on existing information, you can’t foresee just how... extraordinary I am now,"
Facing the overwhelming advance of the mechanical giant, Lyle spread his arms wide.
[God Mode·Mega Transformation].
The intense light dimmed a little, and tentacles grew out of the black mud, the rolling appendages engulfed Lyle along with the sludge. The swirling tentacles formed a twisted vortex, and a withered demon claw reached out from the vortex, grabbed the Mechanical Bad Omen Giant’s head, and lifted it like a toy.
A twenty-meter-tall black giant emerged from the mire, a hideous smile on its silhouette-like face as black mud dripped from the mouth like saliva.
Lyle, like a delighted child, hugged its slightly smaller counterpart, emitting a disturbing laugh that mingled with the sound of the Mechanical Bad Omen Giant being dismembered.
"I love it so much, Dorothy; I like the toy you gave me,"
The black giant clutched the fragments in its arms and tossed them into the sludge. The metal turned black, and a new giant climbed out from the fragments, showing the same smile, its hollow sockets oozing pus as they watched Dorothy.
Lyle had become two.
The two Lyles watched each other and laughed.
"I’ve made a friend, hahaha..."
"And there are four more..."
One minute fifty seconds.
The black shadow completely engulfed the pyramid; those beams of light were blocked by the tall shadows.
Six black giants surrounded the top of the pyramid, surrounding Dorothy’s mechanical throne.
They hunched their bodies, and their eyes on Dorothy were like those on a small rabbit.
"Dorothy, my friend..."
"Come, become one of us..."
"Become Lyle..."
Long fingers entwined with tentacles, and the malevolent sludge gradually eroded the throne.
"Genesis, launch."
