Academic gathering with a lich-Chapter 530 - 484 Serio the Fate Breaker
The earth shattered, Degonris endured the devastation as landmasses tore apart and collided, gaping chasms appearing in several regions, their unfathomable depths like evil eyes spying on the sky; in other places, massive rock spires pierced through the land, revealing the grandeur of the fractured Degonris.
The trembling was like an enraged dragon roaring in this expanse of heaven and earth.
Within the Castle of Lostar, a sudden change occurred.
"Ah!!!"
Joshua’s scream rang out during his ritual, Karen fell to the ground, her body smeared with fresh blood, but this blood was not hers.
Just as Joshua was about to embrace Karen and incidentally drink her blood, a ghastly wound suddenly split open across his chest, diagonally from the right to the left hip. It was like a fierce slash, nearly severing the new vampire king in two. Within the rend, blood cascaded like a waterfall, and Joshua howled, clutching his crumbling frame, his strength draining away with his blood.
The abnormal situation caused unrest at the scene, an unprecedented, intense blood scent stimulating every vampire’s taste buds, their eyes blood-red, breathing heavy, their claws and fangs exposing their bloodthirsty nature, the surging blood of the gods invoked all of the vampires’ desires. Delaries was the first to react, but the doting grand duke vampire did not focus on Joshua; instead, he transformed into a swarm of bat shadows and burst out of the castle.
"Fallen ones, protect your master."
An earthquake erupted within the Castle of Lostar, and Lyle watched with bulging eyes and tongue-tied, as a large swarm of bats formed a dark cloud that emerged from the castle, soaring upwards, obscuring the sky.
An unimaginably powerful vampire legion, never before revealed, guided by Delaries, flew toward Degonris.
"My Beatrice, what is that?"
Beatrice wiped the cold sweat from her face, answering with lingering fear.
"I don’t know, but I know we’re safe now."
A vampire castle, Lyle, Beatrice, Karen, and a throng of bloodthirsty vampires.
Here, it was like another Hamlet, but in easy mode.
...
"The time has come."
The instant the tremor started, Kevin rushed out, unable to wait any longer from his seclusion, with Mr. Nameless closely following behind, the simulated galaxy lifting him up, floating behind Kevin.
"That earthquake... it doesn’t look good."
"Hurry, Mr. Nameless, Lyle is waiting for our reinforcement, now is our time to act."
Kevin paid no mind to the crumbling Degonris and jogged toward the castle where Lyle was.
They crossed through the peripheral forest and appeared on the wilderness between the castle and Degonris.
The castle’s spire loomed ever larger in view, that damned distance unexpectedly long.
Kevin was about to ask Mr. Nameless to go ahead and rescue without him, but Nameless stopped, not only that, he used gravity to throw Kevin behind him.
"What’s happening, Mr. Nameless?"
"We have a visitor."
Nameless hovered midair, his vantage point slightly wider than Kevin’s, allowing him to be the first to spot the approaching figure.
Barefooted upon the grass, their blood-red akin to vegetation, spreading across the white robe. Long, golden hair trailed on the ground like a cape, their beauty encompassing both masculine handsomeness and feminine softness, their modest smile like the warm light of thawing snow, and within those eyes, the stars lived.
The newcomer spread their arms, as if in welcome.
"If we speak of who arrived on this land first, you two are the guests."
"It’s nice to meet you for the first time, Mr. Kevin."
Even though it was their first meeting, he accurately called out Kevin’s name.
Kevin, although not very familiar with the newcomer, found himself involuntarily calling out the name that rightfully belonged to him. It was most certainly that name, a name that belonged solely to him; the feeling was as natural as stars belonging in the sky.
"Serio Hamlet... sir."
Kevin’s respectfully intended address did not earn Serio’s favor. On the contrary, Serio frowned, as though he heard something offensive. Although the dissatisfaction in his brow was easily erased, Serio didn’t seem in a forgiving mood.
Dark blue tendrils stretched from beneath his robe, flaunting themselves on the lush green field, with blood-red eyeballs at the tips of the tendrils snapping open like pendants, their manic gazes focusing on Kevin. Behind Serio, shadowy bubbles drifted in the air, shaping into shadows with the sound of the tide, while the deep-sea omens in step with Serio transferred the pale white gaze of drowned corpses onto the two, casting death and despair onto them.
"Just call me Serio, Mr. Kevin." Serio’s tone was gentle, like the minor complaint of a friend after a harmless joke.
But the reality was anything but a simple joke.
Nameless turned around to find Kevin behind him with eyes turned white; Kevin’s gaze was nearly as empty as those of the drowned bodies, his mouth gaping open, his well-bred skin visibly swelling with fluid, the smell of seawater growing increasingly intense on him.
Serio was attempting to drown Kevin’s spirit.
"Kevin!" Without hesitation, Nameless extended his hand to touch Kevin’s forehead. "Share the wisdom of the Silver Sage with this man."
It stung like an icicle driven into his head. Clutching his head, Kevin experienced a fleeting torrent of strange and insane knowledge, leaving behind only a piercing cold. As he came back to his senses and saw Mr. Nameless standing before him, the chaotic feeling in his head made Kevin feel lightheaded; after a few seconds, his cerebellum started to function again. Kevin swayed but did not fall.
"What happened? Mr. Nameless."
"You’ve endured the psychic assault of the Evil God and gained resistance against its mind."
"Um, Mr. Nameless, it feels like there’s a lot more in my head now."
"Don’t worry about that for now, Kevin. Serio is our enemy. Focus on the present." The azure light, mimicking a starry domain, expanded to its limit, and Nameless radiated with the light of stars, fracturing the ground. The stone crust was pulled by gravity and peeled open like orange rinds, encasing them both.
"Is that really necessary, Serio, to demonstrate the Evil God’s power against an ordinary human and a bystander?"
"The power of Advanced Magic Research is truly beautiful." Serio smiled, his long eyelashes becoming especially prominent when he closed his eyes, "Every planner will not tolerate coincidences in their scheme, especially the unpredictable accident called destiny."
"We all know Mr. Kevin has such an ability, isn’t that why you’ve stayed by his side, Mr. Nameless?"
Nameless’s expression was cool, his gravitational magic conjuring stone spears that shot into the apparently fragile mass of tentacles, then dissolved in acid.
"Since you understand so well, then you should also realize that sowing discord is futile against Destiny’s Agent, our judgment is based on intuition, which can’t be swayed by your appearance or mental pollution."
"It could have, but not anymore. I didn’t expect Mr. Nameless to be so generous; I hoped I could keep it elegant, but now, I must stop you in a cruder way." Serio’s tentacles behind him twisted and entwined, morphing into sharp spears.
"Kevin’s abilities could potentially upset the entire game, such a troublesome opponent, I must face it myself. The power of the Evil God is the most fitting method to twist fate."
With nothing more to say, neither side wasted further words.
"Kevin, we’ve drawn a big prize." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"What’s the big prize?"
"An enhanced, darker version of a Lyle, an enemy."
