Bones, bones, bones... bones everywhere.

Seeing the bones inside the bunker, Yulia gradually came to a realization that a riot had broken out in this Doomsday Fortress.

But the cause of this riot was unclear, it definitely wasn't food.

The bunker was filled with bones, if the riot was due to food shortage, the bones would have been piled together instead of being scattered everywhere as they are now.

After decades, the bodies had completely decayed, leaving only rotting bones to tell those who entered the bunker of the horrific events that took place.

Yulia first went to the engine room, took a look, and connected the machines in the room to the power source she brought. As expected, the machines wouldn't start at all.

So, she could only look for storage devices in the machine room, connect them with a decoder, and try to read the information from the storage with a terminal.

Unfortunately, too much time had passed, and the storage devices were damaged beyond recovery.

Helplessly, Yulia resorted to picking up scattered papers on the ground, checking if any of them recorded relevant information.

After a while, Yulia gave up on picking up papers and instead squatted down, using her goggles to translate the words on the paper.

Decades had passed, and the papers had become incredibly fragile. When she tried to pick them up lightly, they crumbled at the slightest touch.

After searching for a few minutes, Yulia found a diary.

The diary was in a bedroom; perhaps because the bedroom was quite sealed, when Yulia picked up the diary, it was not damaged, though it remained fragile. She had to turn the pages very carefully.

The diary's owner was Miranda Waller, and the last entry was dated December 11, 2038, suggesting that the destruction of this Doomsday Fortress might have occurred in 2038, in the third year of the Lost Decade.

Yulia didn't read the earlier entries; she directly turned to the last few pages.

In the last few pages, Miranda continued her habit of making entries every three days, indicating she hadn't foreseen the destruction of her location.

Her handwriting didn't appear very neat but wasn't chaotic to the point showing the writer was on the brink of madness.

In the diary, Miranda complained about the food rationing system, feeling as if she were living in Eastern Europe from seventy years ago, something uncharacteristic of the 'free and democratic' United States.

From Miranda's complaints, it seemed that while she disliked the food rationing system, the food provided by the bunker administrator wasn't awful, including both meat and vegetables. Even her vegetarian colleagues in the bunker only complained about insufficient vegetable portions, all of which were dehydrated and tasted dry.

The food in the bunker didn't present any issues; according to Miranda's last diary entry, she hadn't noticed anything problematic there either.

So, the destruction of this bunker was sudden and unforeseen by anyone?

With this thought, Yulia became more interested in the cause of the bunker's destruction.

Putting down Miranda's diary, Yulia left the bedroom to take a look at other bedrooms, but found unlike Miranda, others didn't have the habit of writing diaries.

It made sense; by the time they arrived at the bunker, it was already 2035, when technology was quite advanced. From her childhood memory, people like Miranda who liked to document their daily activities in a diary were rare.

After a fruitless wander around the bunker, Yulia headed towards the bunker's archive.

Because electronic products are generally quite fragile, the Doomsday Fortress often stored data in both paper and electronic formats.

Paper records were stored in the archive and left unopened unless needed, allowing them to be preserved for a long time.

The bunker used the latest vacuum preservation technology for storing paper records, ensuring they wouldn't be damaged, even after centuries or millennia.

This greatly benefited Blue Star. When Yulia found those paper records, they were all well-preserved.

Yulia chose not to open them on the spot. After all, she wasn't a technician; instead, she glanced at the covers, confirmed their contents, and slipped them into her storage pouch.

Suddenly, Yulia paused her actions.

"Demonic Summoning?" Yulia read the book's title aloud.

Before the initial Abyss destruction, the United States had obtained technology for summoning demons from the Bota Star people, and they had even succeeded in summoning demons.

But apparently, for some reason, they didn't use the demons to fight the Abyss, and the entire nation collapsed.

Only a select few knew the existence of demon summoning technology. Had it not been for the Bota Star people, even the United Government wouldn't have known that descendants of some American politicians held demon summoning technology.

This bunker preserved interstellar communication technology, so preserving demon summoning technology wasn't surprising.

If this bunker held demon summoning technology, it meant the residents might have been researchers who studied demon summoning?

Was the bunker destroyed due to demons?

With this thought, Yulia turned to glance behind her.

Looking at the empty doorway behind her, Yulia inexplicably chuckled, then returned to stuffing more books on the shelves into her pouch.

After loading all the books from the archive, Yulia turned to leave. Just as she stepped out, she suddenly swung her fist to the left.

Bam!

Even though she punched into thin air, a shadow flew out, crashing into the hallway wall, denting it.

Yulia couldn't see what hit the wall, but she could sense a presence there.

Did the demon that destroyed the bunker decades ago remain hidden here all this time?

Yulia found that unlikely, more plausibly, the demon sensed her entrance and teleported from elsewhere to here.

Demons possessed the ability to mark and traverse dimensions, making such feats possible.

Fortunately, since becoming Sequence One, the Engraving ability resided permanently within her body, or else Yulia believed she could have been in real danger.

With a swift motion of her legs, the ground beneath Yulia suddenly sunk, cracks spreading, as her figure vanished from sight.

In the next moment, Yulia was right in front of the dented wall, launching a fierce punch.

Boom!!!

The wall shattered instantly, and whatever Yulia punched into it was thrust along with the wall debris into another wall.

Almost simultaneously as it hit the wall, the wall behind shattered again, and its body continued to fly backward.

Crash, wall break, crash, wall break...

The invisible, formless entity smashed through seven walls, even taking down a load-bearing wall, causing a collapse of the bunker.

It wasn't until it slammed into the bunker's outer wall, deeply embedding itself in the earth, that it came to a stop.

Yulia approached slowly, reached into the deep pit, and pulled out a severely deformed creature.

This creature finally revealed its form. It appeared entirely black, resembling a headless dog, or rather, its head was where a normal dog's chest would be.

It sported four eyes, two of which had burst; it had six legs, all shattered.

There were no obvious reproductive organs, but it did have a tail like a scorpion's.

After being dragged out by Yulia, the creature had already perished; of course, it might not have needed to breathe.

In any case, Yulia couldn't sense any signs of life from the creature.

Yulia carried the creature's body out of the bunker, reached the surface, and stomped hard.

Rumble—!

Under her stomp, the ground for several kilometers around suddenly collapsed, completely burying the underground Doomsday Fortress.

If the bunker housed an invisible entity likely to be a demon, more similar entities might emerge, so Yulia destroyed it.

As for the creature in her hand, she intended to take it to some friends for dissection and study to determine what exactly it was.
